Really nice experience working with the Treeman team. We had a 75+ foot red maple snap from about 35 feet up during a recent high wind event. Imagine all the leaves and branches in the crown + trunk of a maple and think of it dangling upside down suspended over a little lawnmower shed. It was entangled in a smaller dogwood and it's own lower branches. The Tree Man(ny) himself was quick to respond to my request for an estimate. We received estimates from 3 well-rated companies and went with Treeman because they were a little better priced than the other company and had received two recent testimonials of clients who've worked with them directly. If I could dock half a star, I would because as a mom, I'd have liked to see everyone in protective gear (helmets, glasses) especially since my 6 and 8 year old watched them intently throughout the job. But they did 5-star work and it was clear they knew their stuff. I'm guessing you must if you're free-scaling trees to the heights they did. The team was incredibly thorough, cleared debris and left us with log length firewood for the rest of the season. We'd be confident in re-hiring the Treeman crew for future work. read more

I had an enormous tree branch (over a foot thick at the base over 20 feet long) in my back yard come down on my neighbor's garage last night during a storm. I spent the morning calling the city 311 and pepco seeing if they would do it given safety issue - which they wouldn't seeing as it was in my back yard and only landed on phone lines. By 1pm on a Friday I had to find a tree service that could give me an estimate and do the work before the weekend. By sheer dumb luck I had seen their truck in the neighborhood (Tenleytown/AU Park DC) and taken a photo of it as we needed some tree work anyway. I've had mixed results calling other trucks I've seen working on other peoples homes but I called the number anyway. Within an hour I had William of Treeman out at our house who told me "to be honest you may be able to get the city to do it" - I told him we tried unsuccessfully but I appreciated the honesty. He said his crew was working in the area and could swing by later in the afternoon and quoted a very reasonable price compared to several sight-unseen estimates I had (from other companies, most of which said I would have to wait until Monday for even an estimate). We gave him the go ahead and by 4:30 we had the crew with cherry picker, chainsaws, and wood chipper in our alley. Mind you by then the summer evening storms had made a return and they were working in the rain. Nevertheless they were extremely careful in extricating the branch piece by piece from my neighbor's garage and using ropes to carefully guide each foot-wide segment over our stone patio below. Overall they did the entire branch removal in maybe 45 minutes. A nice touch was that they used a leaf blower to clean the roof as well. REALLY top notch service and a cut above the rest!!!! I called seven tree removal services and Treeman Inc. is the only one that contacted me. I have to say that I liked Manny Polanco from the start. He was professional and friendly. He also turned out to be on top of things and very interested in getting the job done. Today, the crew came and worked from 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to get the job done. Everything was done professionally. The job was extremely complicated, involving 4 other neighbors and tight spaces. There was an unexpected glitch - a car parked in a spot it wasn't supposed to be in. Even so, Manny and the crew were patient and the situation was resolved. Manny, the owner of the company (Treeman, Inc.) came to my home and gave me an estimate to have 4 trees trimmed/pruned way back. Many of the branches were overshadowing my house and that of my neighbors. Manny was very thorough and professional and gave me a very good estimate for the work to be done. He had a very good understanding of what I wanted done. Manny was able to schedule the work within one week of giving me the estimate. Manny and hHis crew showed up at 8:30am and he explained to his crew what work needed to be done. They worked until 2:30pm taking only a short break for lunch. The crew was EXCELLENT. When they finished, they cleaned up the yard and the street from where they had a chipper. Before deciding to hire Treeman, Inc., I obtained three estimates. They were the best and most affordable of all the estimates I received. I would definitely recommend them again. In fact, one of my neighbors came over and is interested in getting some of his trees trimmed. I will definitely give them the phone number to Treeman, Inc. Good price, great service and excellent customer service. So many calls to so many tree services. Treeman (Manny) was the most responsive and flexible in terms of meeting with me in the evening. Others either never returned my calls or failed to keep appointments when set. Manny walked the grounds and gave a fair estimate on the spot. We had a number of trees that needed to be less dense. When the work was scheduled to be done, they showed up as planned and we could hardly tell they had even been there based upon the excellent clean up they did. I WILL use Treeman again!! read more

supplement to my previous post. manny , owner of treeman, inc. is the real deal. excellent work, person, super pleasant, humor, ethical, and runs a first class operation. no bs, eg false advertizing, "licensed and insured". i checked on that 15 years ago. many, print out business cards with "licensed and insured " or wear a t shirt with their company name, and that is supposed to make one believe that they are insured and have license. misrepresentation, dishonesty and goes without saying. a branch falls and goes through the roof. what are chances most of these guys will .... you get the pic. ask to see license and insruance!! they justify their high prices with "have to pay insurance, etc". stick with the big guys who have been around for a while and have license and insurance and sleep well. manny is based out of rockville, md, but works all around metro area. read more

I am a 19 year old student at a university in the area. While on my university's campus, two men in a treeman truck addressed me in a lewd manner. I called to report a complaint with the office. The receiver, who identified both as the owner and supervisor at different times in the conversation, answered my call. He began by asking me to repeat their comments which I refused to do to which he responded, "Well then how can I know they were rude?" Some other key moments of the conversation included him saying he would "ask them their side" and "that I only had one side of the story". He additionally informed me that he was much more intelligent than myself. I would suggest hiring a company that displays a little more professionalism and a little less misogyny. read more

I must respond to the single review, which sounded unfortunate..we have not yet used their services, but have selected them after 3 estimates, for a very large job. We live in a well wooded protected forest, and some very old (70-90) yr old (& large) trees, planted on properties at the time. After the fall of an enormous 80+ yr old cherry; part of the trunk still standing, we called Treeman for a first estimate..we got three. The gentleman who came to do the first estimate couldn't have been more pleasant or professional. One estimator said they'd need a crane..which could damage our neighbors driveway. 'Manny', from Treeman, thought they could handle the situation with ropes. The fallen portion in our yard, was huge-it poison-ivy covered trunk at least a meter (3 ft around). All 3 Tree experts/estimators, stressed the danger of the standing portion, some 30+ meters straight up, no limbs. One estimator, not so courteous, said we'd have to pay out of pocket..it was leaning towards our neighbors yard, anyway. That was unacceptable comment. Treeman was the Only service that had a Certified Arborists registration....the backyard had been landscaped to provide butterfly (& other pollinators) habitat. Only the Treeman Service could understand the ecological worth, beyond monetary number. Our neighbor came out simultaneously-due to the crash. As Treeman walked about, checking carefully, our neighbors came out, expressing another tree concern.He thoughtfully fielded her inquiries-giving an on the spot estimate...Ours was more complicated..but he was easy to work with, & expressed a REAL Concern about the danger posed by the standing tree. Nearly all estimates were comparable, but Treeman's cost was the least by a few hundred. They were by far the most professional, had experience we wanted (certified Arborist), & could not have shown any greater Integrity.
