If you've got extra poo bags and hand sanitizer, then I'm a fan. And the Tremont Dog Park has-a-plenty. In fact, they even have a special receptacle bin for the poos, which I only know because my boyfriend almost disposed of a baggie in the wrong one. This makes me think that they have a special way to dispose of the waste, which can cause toxic runoff in our water. I appreciate that! This was actually the first dog park I've ever been to, and now that I've experienced a few I decided that I really like this one. It's not the biggest, or the most glamorous, but it's got plenty of open space for running. There are toys, water bowls, hand sanitizer and a separate area for small dogs. Archie walked in and immediately made a friend with what seemed like a breed of sheep dog. What I loved about this park was that it wasn't packed with folks who were sitting on benches with their coffee and not watching their canines. Tremont seems to attract owners who want to interact with their dogs and play with them while they're here. Since this was my first doggie park experience, I was a little worried about Archie running off or misbehaving with other dogs. The owner of the sheep dog quickly informed me that he wouldn't get out and to relax and let 'em all play. Great advice. One thing I could do without is feeling like I'm playing next to a radioactive power plant. I kept thinking I was going to leave here and develop a third eye from the toxic waves. Not a great view. I also wouldn't come down here alone at dusk, but during the day I don't think that would be a problem. Lastly, we didn't bring my boyfriend's son with us this time around, but we plan on it next time. There is a huge playground right next door for kids and since I know he'd get bored in the dog park within 10 mins, it would be a perfect situation for an energetic 6yr old. read more

Let me start by saying, a dog park that has an open space for my dog to run around is a-ok by me. And this place definitely has it. It's got a fenced in area with gravel (I'm not a big fan of the gravel) that also holds a trash can for dog waste. Next to the fenced in area is a semi-fenced in area with grass. Surrounding both lots is a lot more open field, which doubles as field space for intramural football teams throughout the year. I also once saw larping done here and that was some great entertainment (if you don't know what larping is, you should google it). The park seems to be kept up well - I've never seen the trash overflowing or dog poo spattering the grounds. The worst part about this place is not the park itself but the road leading into the park. There are more potholes in this one road than the entire city of Cleveland, and that is saying something! I wish the city would fix this! The long and short - if you have a dog that needs to run around and be free, this is a great place. I just hope your car can make it through the pot-holey terrain! read more

The park has a lot of space for large dogs to run. I'm not sure what the peak time is for this park but I noticed that all the trash cans are always over filled with full doggy waste bags. The manager of the park should empty the trash more often. read more

I love Tremont. It's trendy, it's dog friendly, and lots of cool people are always around. However, I found this dog park lacking. There was broken glass and some other unsavory elements around when I went, in addition to this place just being hard to find. read more

Okay, first off I'm not a west-sider so finding the place put me at a distinct disadvantage. I was persistent and did find it, but for newbies the signage could definitely use an upgrade. The park itself has a large fenced in gravel space - great for big dogs who love to run in a pack like my husky- endless back and forth sprints to and fro with new found friends make a happy dog and a tired, mellow friend in the evening! For small dogs- the space set aside is a bit on the depressing / high functional end. I'd choose Canine Meadows in Kirtland which has more grassy romping room for the little ones. Here at Tremont, there are some benches that afford a bit of shade for the owners who prefer to observe sitting down. Power plant adjacent is a little too industrial if you're looking for a semblance of pastoral quiet. But what the hell, still a great park with friendly dogs. read more

Hearing about a dog park close to where I live I got excited. Coming here, I passed it up. Then found out it doesnt have grass in the fenced in area for the dogs to play on. Small pebbles can get hot during the summer for the dogs to walk on. If they're out of the fence, I'm not risking my dogs being off leash, even though there's dog agility equipment out of the fenced area. Also, outside of the fenced area, the grass is over grown. read more

I love this park. It's huge, has seating, has hand-sanitizer, and is well located (I live in Tremont). Thing is, no one else seems to go there! I've never been there where there are big packs of dogs, it's always just a dog or two and when they leave, it's not just my dog that's sad...I am. It's no fun to be at an empty dog park! Beware of reviews that are based on a single bad experience with another dog. It's a dog park. Dogs can be bad, owners can be bad...when you go to a park, you take you chances with that. It's not the parks fault, and it could have happened at any park. read more

Im not sure what other people have found, but as with anything a single owner can ruin a good thing. This park has a lot of short haired, agressive looking, but for the most part well behaved dogs and owners. My first time there, I brought my 6month old golden doodle female (which is the opposite of aggressive looking), which was constantly having to fend off a large adult dog from mounting her. Unable to escape him, or fend him off, we had to separate the two, and finally leave. His owner was too busy yelling at her own children to notice, and only once or twice yelled something at her dog - which much like her children, didn't take her seriously. It was up to me to control her dog, which I don't think is the way a park like this should work. It is really too bad, because it's a nice facility - but I'm not sure I want to subject my dog to a place where bullies are not dealt with. read more

I so wanted this park to work out for my pooch, but there is no separate small dog area, and my 10 lb. mutt got mobbed immediately by bigger dogs. That would have been OK, except they were repeatedly aggressive with him. A few times one snapped and tried to bite him. I think this is a great park for bigger dogs, but not littles. read more

The park is all gravel/rocks, which my dog was not a fan of. She walked really slow. Instead of exploring/running away, she just sat on the bench with me. The park I thought was fine otherwise. There are eight benches, two benches at the four corners of the park. A water foundation in the back. read more

By far the best dog park in Cleveland. I've only run into one dog related issue here-- and I've been coming here for over two years so far. It's well maintained, and from my experience the other dogs, and owners are friendly too! read more

Best dog park option for west siders. The open fields are amazing. My dogs love it here and so do I.

All gravel area, no grass. Not up kept very well. Basically a fenced in gravel lot. Only positive was it was fenced in.

This is a great dog park! I hope it stays this way. I have been going to this dog park monthly for 2 years. That whole time, people are engaged owners, dogs can be dogs, and I prefer this park over several others I am been to in the area. I agree with everything Cara L posted. I especially agree that they should bring their child to the playground just outside the fence (this makes sense and is a nice amenity that other dogs parks may not enjoy). Today, in the park, Welker (my dog) and I had been there for about an hour. Everything was fine, when a mom, dad, with an 8(ish) year old and 2-3 year old entered the park. I was immediately on guard, despite the rules for the park posted pertaining to children. There were some good size dogs (boxers, labs, huskies, etc...) having a playful time. Within about 5 minutes of them entering I left. I have never seen children(especially the 2 year old, just recently knowing how to walk) that young and small walking by themselves in any dog park. The problem escalated when another dog, who had been there just as long as us, without agression or malice knocked down the 2-3 year old from behind. The mother of the child said she would call the cops, then threatened to sue. I got my dog, who had not done anything at that point, on the leash and left. Soon the whole park of about 10 dogs were gone. This isn't fair and cooler heads prevailed, but DOGS IN A DOG PARK SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO BE DOGS IN A DOG PARK. I have looked extensively who to contact to get clarifiaction on the rules or what to do if this situation should arise again. There is no obvious contact, so I hope some good dog people read this and respond. I will be there again, but in case this family, who has a light brown and white husky should be there, be aware-it will be your fault. These days anyone can sue(and probably win). John G. read more
