Still a sub par barber experience... I went about 2 weeks ago for a line up and got charged SIXTY! That's 6-0 dollars for a LINE UP! Not to mention he didn't even finish it off with the straight edge razor! I've paid $25 for line ups and got better service than this place offers. It upsets me that they are still open and also still the main option for a black person to get a haircut in the Hollywood area without a week's advance appointment. read more

The $60 cut by Rude-Ass William. Today's walk-in with William wasn't anything nice. I swear I don't know why I keep giving this place a chance, but our backs were against the wall, . My son's regular Barber was out of town and he was up for an audition. William, the barber, was rude when I actually tried to compliment the job he was doing on my son's head. Before I could compliment the lining, "I really like.." William said, "I'm not done!" Full attitude. I asked him if he's having a bad day and he said no. I guess it was just me. At the end of the cut, which was pretty good, but not better than my sons regular barber, William said, "that's $60." WTF!! I asked him 3x, "how much?" He repeated $60. First of all, my son has locs at the top of his head, which means William did the lining and the side of his head.... NOT EVEN THE WHOLE HEAD! I was to depleted by my weekend to argue with him, my son and my husband was completely surprised. Me too! But I had a horrible weekend, I just didn't have it in me. I will NOT try this place again. $70 to get your face cut up. I did a walk-in with Mike, and let me tell you his cuts are f'ing TRASH! 5 minutes into sitting in his chair I knew I made a mistake of letting him touch my hair. He rushed my cut. I've never had a barber cut my hair so aggressively. Cutting up my face while doing my line up. Him and his clippers are TRASH. I've had better cuts from Korean women barbers. He does not deserve to be paid $70 for cutting anyones hair. read more

This review is ONLY for Mona Lisa! She is a fantastic barber! I see her once a month early in the morning at 7:30am. I make sure I'm the first one in her chair because I don't like the atmosphere of a barber shop. She is always on time and prompt. She never rushes, even when people are waiting for her. She treats me with respect and gives great feedback if she is able to work with an idea I might have for a design. Her hands are BLESSED! I was extremely nervous getting a Mohawk for the first time and it turned out amazing! I waited until 3 months while looking ratchet to see her after Covid-19 knowing I could've went to someone else. ******* Unfortunately, she is NOT at TS anymore. I highly do not recommend. The cuts are average for $60, there only worth about $25 & the service here isn't good at all. Made an appointment arrived and was told by the barber that I wasn't on the schedule then he proceeded to tell me it was $70 instead of $60 for me because "I made an appointment". So basically if i just walk in it's cheaper. . . . .ok? The cut was mediocre at best, After the cut I wasn't wiped down with an alcohol wipe instead just kind of brushed the hair off my neck and sent me on my way. . . . . Do better read more

I recently just moved to Hollywood & have been looking for a new barber. Like every other person I HATE looking for new barbers. I tried another spot in Hollywood and was completely disappointed. I figured after that bad experience nothing could be worse. I called to see if they were taking walk ins (they were). Walked in sat down and a guy named Q had someone in his chair and about 1 other person waiting. It was a Sunday so I was glad they were even open. I waited about 30 minutes, then Q took me in his chair. I explained what a wanted done to my beard (I'm bald so only like getting my beard trimmed, shaped and lined up) He did exactly what I asked and the cut was perfect. I think I found my new barber!. So when you go in, ask for Q. He'll have you looking proper with a bomb cut!. read more

I been getting my haircut with Chaun since 2012 and literally come to this shop for him!! It's a great location and everyone in here is good vibes. The space is open and extremely comfortable. I got two haircuts today. The first one (I won't say where) went horribly wrong. The second one was at Trendsetters and was kind of life changing in a good way. I searched "hair salon" in Apple Maps to find a place that was open and accepted walk-ins. Trendsetters came up as a "barber shop", and usually I consider that a place where men go for haircuts and grooming. I tend to go to "hair salons" as a lady, ya know. But my pixie cut needed some major blending and fading...and that's pretty much what barber shops are known for. So, I headed on over. Mike took me in so kindly. He assured me from the get go that I could relax and he would make this situation better for me. He has the most comforting presence. He got to work right away and we had an amazing conversation. The kind of conversation that made me understand that I needed that bad haircut today so I'd find my way to him to hear what he had to say about...life. I walked outta there with my confidence fully restored not only in my looks, but that I'm just on the right path - I'm right where I need to be. I live 3 blocks away from this place.. right next to Ralphs on La Brea and Fountain...anyway .. my long time hair cut gal Vicki. .. Romaine and Vine.... she cut my hair for 20 years .. and only charged me 10$ anyway she retired so I was looking for a new place ... this was few months ago .. Frankie.. owner of the shop cut my hair .. and did a greatjob...now during covid it had been closed but reopened ...so Frankie had given me his cell so I could call him ..so I texted him on Saturday ..set an appt for 1 yesterday .. he texted me at noon and said could we reschedule.. we did for 4... i got their at 355 ...no one greeted me or said a word to me .at 415 i texted Frankie and told him i was at teh salon... no response ...at 430 i left ... texted him again .. and he said " You were here ? and yes i was the only guy sitting other than a family... Let me start of by saying "It's difficult to find a Barbor that will give you a quality cut." I have been looking for the right barbor shop since Aug 17'. I've tried several spots and even a place in Pasadena (I Live In San Gabriel) and a Barbor at Just In Time Hair Trends told me that "No Cut Is Perfect" after he jacked up my line up. I kept searching for the right Barbor with good reviews and I found Mona Lisa here at Trendsetters! She is amazing, she is professional, she gives good advice and is well worth the drive! Drove By and saw it was 5 barbers all cutting and two people waiting so I dropped in for a quick cut because I was in a rush. Lucky for me another barber came as I arrived so I was able to get right in the chair. My personal pet peeve is barbers talking more then they work so once he got talking and stopped my haircut I was alittle hot but gave benefit of the doubt since he just got there and was catching up with coworkers. Haircut was solid after he finished it but I i was disappointed with the price being $45 for a simple fade and line. It's Hollywood so I should've known better. If you don't mind the price I recommend this place but I've learned my lesson to stick to my $20 barber who get me out in 20 mins. I don't really have that much to say about this place. It was expensive, especially for the level of service you get. Like I get that barber shops are casual spots, but for $50 getting a quick cut and leaving covered in hair with a just OK haircut is a bit....ehhhhh. This place is awesome! The vibe is very chill and each barber is different. Most of the guys here are really good at what they do and very detail oriented. I started as a walk in and now I tell all my friends to come here if they do not have a permanent barber. Ive tried so many places around LA and this place blows the competition out of the water. Some barbers take card payment plus there is an ATM inside. Dash is my man! I film all the time and he has me looking right!!!! I go weekly for great conversation and an amazing cut!
