I wouldn't consider this a winery, more like they serve a bunch of different wines from the wineries. The space: is large and open. Plenty of seating. There was a cute little jewelry stand too that the girls bought earrings from. We ordered: - octopus ceviche - clam ceviche - a bottle of wine - tacos The ceviche was delicious, the people were friendly, and we enjoyed the bottle of wine!

And it was extremely cold since its very open aired. But they were nice to bring us heat lamps. We got their house sangria pitcher, it tasted good, but it tasted more like fruit soda rather than wine. Clam Ceviche This seemed like a popular item, but honeslty the clam was too dry and overcooked and no flavor. (I don't recall the names of the other items and didn't take a picture of the menu, nor can I find a menu online, so here it goes...) Tuna Toastada This was okay, fish didn't seem that fresh, not much flavor as well. Grilled Pork + Beans and Sides The meat was very tasty, nice mixture of shredded meat and fatty skin. I tried a bite of the steak, was okay too. Overall, food and drinks are okay. Would like to see this place in the daytime.

We were greeted immediately and offered indoor or outdoor seating. We opted to eat outdoors. A tiny regret as smoking is allowed and people were smoking. But they soon left so not too much of a bother. We started by ordering drinks - they have a full bar. My husband ordered a double tequila & I ordered a Paloma. Not too strong or too weak, just perfectly prepared. My husband ordered the Chamuyo Shrimp U10, and I ordered the Rib Eye Center Cut Steak- medium well. Both came with a side of the criolla salad. The food, ambiance, and service was great. There was also about 30 minutes of live music by a duo performing son jarocho. Not sure if that's the proper phrasing but it was a nice treat. I'm not sure if they are regular performers or they just happened to be there that day. Overall a great dining experience to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.

We asked for a wine tasting, but I am pretty certain they didn't give us the whole tasting - the guy just disappeared after awhile, and that was that. We ordered a few dishes to share for dinner, one was a jalapeno pasta that seemed interesting, but the pasta was completely overcooked to almost mush and the sauce was basically congealing onto that, making it quite unappetizing. We also ordered a hawaiian pizza that sounded nice, but it came with so many raisins and mushrooms, which just made it so confusing, as we expected just ham and pineapple - the combo was not delicious. The cheese plate basically had all the same cheese spread around the plate. The ceviche was actually fine, with tiny bits of ahi tuna. If you had to eat here, get the ceviche, but otherwise, I don't think you'd be missing much not eating anything here. The wines were actually not that great either - too acidic, didn't have much finesse. I don't know. I think the service in addition to the food in addition to the wine were all so lackluster and disappointing. We really wanted to like it here, but couldn't find much to like.

We tried Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Nativo red blend (cab merlot blend), and our favorite, the Principio (also a cab/merlot blend), but barrel aged longer). The wines were well made, very light-bodied, low alcohol, high acidity, and a higher salinity that you get from some Valle wines. Overall, they weren't to our taste, but we enjoyed our visit. They have a restaurant, too if you want to stop in for lunch or dinner.

Tahal is located on the grounds of the Barón Balché winery. If you go in for a wine tasting you'll walk by the patio of the restaurant. The Husband and went in for a tasting and hoped that we would be able to get a table after. The restaurant was pretty busy. Given that we had just done a tour and purchased wine, I think they were able to find us a table for two. It's probably best if you make reservations. The Husband ordered the catch of the day with veggies, and I got the NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. When my dinner arrived the skilled was still sizzling. I'm not a big fan of smoked meats but the food was delicious. We both really enjoyed the atmosphere and I could imagine spending the rest of the evening here just enjoying some wine. There were table upon table of people who were there when we arrived for the tasting and were still there when we left. The one thing I really disliked was that because the restaurants is outdoors people are able to smoke. There one one table close to us were a lady probably smoked through half her pack during our meal. The smell of her cigarettes made my meal less enjoyable. Overall, it's a very relaxing place and I look forward to another visit to Tahal.

We returned to Baron Balche for their wine tasting this past week and decided to stop here again for their food however our experience at Tahal this time was not nearly as memorable as 5 years ago. We were here on a slow Monday afternoon. There was only 1 other party there having a late lunch. We were seated and attended to relatively promptly initially however the service worsened after that. We ordered Aguachile de camarón to share first which she got to us quickly. We then ordered a couple glasses of wine, water, a Marguerita Pizza, and a Flan de elote all together. The waitress told us that we needed to remind her about the Flan because she would forget. We never got our glasses of wine. We had a normal wait time for the pizza and then had to remind her after 20 minutes for her to grab water for us. She remembered to bring the Flan de elote after it looked like we were done eating our aguachile and pizza. The aguachile was great. I'd come back just for this and I normally do not like eating shrimp at all. The pizza was OK. Not the greatest but not bad. The flan de elote was great as well and actually did taste like corn. At the end of the visit she asked if we ever got our wine and we told her no but it was too late as we were done eating. When we were about to pay the check they also forgot to remove the glasses of wine from our bill and we had to remind them to take it off. Overall the food was good but service was not.

Monte Xanic walked us through every pour like a warm hug. Bruma is too cool and too artsy for any of that. Both are good! Just know what you're walking into. Bruma makes a really damn good glass of wine, and they make you go underground for it. The tasting is in a dark, quiet cellar that turns out to be the perfect place to actually pay attention to what's in your glass. And what's in there has personality. Real personality. The winery itself is moody and artistic in the very best way, built around a 300-year-old oak tree (which, fine, show off). Then you step outside and the grounds are STUNNING. So stunning that we wandered for an hour and decided to stay for dinner. Separate review coming. Four stars and not five because of the service during the tasting. Nobody was rude, everyone was perfectly nice, but they were also barely there. For a tasting, where the whole point is to learn what you're drinking, that's a miss. Worth the trip. Just bring a friend who knows wine, in case nobody else volunteers.
