This "Truck Stop" also has a restaurant on premises (Red Bird Diner) which looked pretty busy when I stopped in yesterday for gas. I guess this place is a hit with the rural locals. Shell has more modern stations out there and judging by the number of pumps, there sure were a lot of diesel nozzles available. On the gasoline side, I was one of 2 or 3 other cars. One was from Iowa with a cute Lab in the back, while another was from Wisconsin and decked out in Packer's gear. I had to go inside for a receipt, which I found to be a bit dark and tchotchke homey. Anyway, the bottom line for me was that I filled up the tank, topped it off, and was able to return the rental car at the Kansas City Airport while it still read full. I'd like to say that this was good planning on my part......

I gassed up my car and a brutally cold and windy night, and should have faced the other direction! I went inside to warm up and found kind customer service and clean bathrooms. Gas was $2.49 per gallon.

Whether you're getting pizza or filling up is a great place to go. Nowadays, when you have to use a card at the pump and then a card at the counter it is nice that tracks provides you with a reward card that when swiped to the pump allows you to also then pay just one time inside for any extras that you were getting. Plus you get points that can be returned for either cash or special promotions that are going on. They always have a different group of items every month that are changing that are on sale some much better than others. They have a great selection of fresh food, though if I could say it does seem like the wraps have gotten a little bit smaller in the last year I'm not sure if that's a budget issue or just a manufacturing problem. But being able to go in and grab a healthier option instead of a candy bar is really nice. They also have a subway at this location so if you're looking for a more sustainable meal than stop in and grab a foot-long, I have done that on several occasions and this is a great option for dinner.
