If I hadn't had my lil yorkie poo bleeding from her rectum/ w diarrhea, I wouldn't have taken her . They charged 40$ extra for walking into the door 2 minutes after midnight!!! When I complained, the very rude from office girl ( who you could tell she didn't care one way or another) wouldn't budge . I'm a senior citizen & my 6 lb yorkee was bleeding! The Vet came in felt my pups tummy , said it was most likely from something she ate. Never exam her bottom or swabbed her to see what I was talking about. They gave us estimates, which the Dr was indignant about. The rude front lady bright the estimates, never saw the Dr again . she wasn't in the exam room more than 5 minutes after. After almost 300.00 we left w/meds 2 I could have bought over the counter. Never ever go there.... they don't care about your dog, only money . Pathetic to be called an Animal Hospital. read more

I would give a zero if I could. If I believed my baby boy Dylan would have not suffered til morning to take him to my vet I would have. This place was so disgustingly clinical and cold. The "lady" at the front desk doesn't even look at you, when she starts her rude ass demeanor. I said my dog has a bladder tumor and I think he can't pee no more and needs to be put down. Oh if that's what you want and walks to a room, reads off a piece of paper prices and then says what do you want. Like I'm ordering a dam burger or something. Like seriously, I'm balling my eyes out, I'm scared, I have no fucking clue what I should do. She plops the clipboard and paper down and says I'll be back. Then comes back takes the paper. Some nurse or tech comes in, gives a shot to relax him. I dodnt know I had to ask. They can't even tell you wtf they are doing. Then after some time the doctor comes in. She says nothing. Never asks my name. My dogs name, just shaves his leg and pushes meds. Only words our of her mouth was he's gone, you can stay as long as you need. That's fucking it. I'm crying. Trying to explain how good of a boy he's been and these pathetic individuals act like it's another day and can even pretend to care. 421 bucks to have them treat me and my boy like we were garbage. You couldn't even ask his damn name. You didn't even explain. What you were doing. You didn't explain anything. I'm so angry I had to leave hus body there with you vile pos individuals. Worst service I have ever had in my life. My dog got hit by a car and we brought him in. They were being so disrespectful to my Mom who was worried about my dog who was bleeding, and so I stood up for my mom. They told us that they were going to deny us care, I tried to argue with them because my dog couldn't even keep his eyes open. They didn't care, ruthless white trash humans. There's a reason they have so many awful reviews, they are awful people who never should have been vets. I was totally disgusted how this clinic handled my sweet girl Coco's Cremation. 1st of all when I picked her up, the lady handed me her box and said, "here ya go" no sorry for your loss or anything, just "here ya go". I got a box, I've seen people have a mold of a paw print, a box and a certificate. For 260.00 I would have thought she would come home with something like that, but nope, just a box. Our dog was seizing in their waiting room and they literally watched him- saying there's nothing they could do because they didn't have a doctor there/ all while taking a several hundred dollar payment from someone whose dog was just seen by a vet. The vet tech was so rude and didn't have an empathetic bone in her body.. she told us he was gonna die but if we wanted him to be seen we should probably get to Bloomington. .. I brought our 4-year old French Bulldog into Tri County on Christmas morning after presenting with a number of stroke-like symptoms and was so relieved with the level of care he received. Dr. Calhoun could tell we were very scared and was able to calm us down, quickly diagnose our pup, and explain each of the symptoms and the treatment plan very well. I just took my small tiny dog that used to be abused animal to the animal clinic and warned them that she's very protective of herself, so She sometimes bites. The vet stood outside the examination room sighing a d carrying on like it was the worst thing of his lifeto even have to come in and treat my animal, I am and if you see it's 4:30 in the morning so I'm not really put together that well and he asked me to come well as long "as I can actually pay " which is completely totally fine. I also carry pet insurance for my animal he then came in with a complete total attitude ..and I said well if this is putting you out so much we can go somewhere else.... "I'm not gonna get bit" all sarcastically like which is understandable but she's hurting. She's in pain. She doesn't feel good. She was abused in the past. How do you make something that small the world so big to react?? is that like my was to bring my small dog over there to bite him so I worry was that he was gonna throw it animal control she bit so I had to leave. I was not gonna them taking her while she's sick and in pain and throw her into the pound. Small dog like that can you imagine being that tiny with everybody walking around you that big and you were abused in the past of course you're gonna protect yourself. Tri-County did an excellent job with my reactive princess last night. They were helpful over the phone and when I arrrived the staff was able to quickly get her into a room. The vet tech and vet were pleasant to work with...made friends with my dog and explained everything clearly. I was in and out (with a diagnosis and meds) in under an hour, and the bill was reasonable. read more

I don't often leave negative reviews. I had a previous great experience when my dog was having an allergic reaction. This time was very different. We had to wait a long time when my dog was very uncomfortable. We suspected a UTI and had to get a pee sample. The vet inspected her for about a minute.She was in good spirits when we got there and after they took her back she came back a different dog. I made a comment and they said she was just sad or uncomfortable. We waited a long time to get any results and said that they could come back and drain her bladder because it was full and inflamed. It took over an hour of her laying on the floor panting, foaming, and stomach constricting. I asked if this was normal and they said it's just her bladder...we were told that she had bladder stones and given meds and to follow up with our vet. She died 6/7 hours later. I don't know if they suspected that she was about to die. But they never told me what to look for if she got worse. I can't get the picture of her dying out of my mind. We were completely shocked and are devastated. I don't think she was given the attention and thoroughness she deserved. I'm just disappointed in the experience read more

The staff here are absolutely evil heartless and do not care to take action to save your pet . They are on a power trip and I strongly suggest everyone to heed every bad review you see about this establishment. You are better off driving anywhere else. My dog is dead because of them and I will never forgive a single person I dealt with on Sunday night when I came over an hour away to get help . I cannot describe the dark energy radiating off the people I dealt with the other night. All they cared about was establishing dominance over me when I was in a panic and trying very hard to just save my dog's life. I will never forgive a single person I dealt with the other day and if you look at any bad reviews it's very common for people to get treated horribly by them, and leave with an animal that dies before they can get it help from someone else. That's exactly what happened to me the other night . I am traumatized, broken, and many people in my life are suffering now because of this loss. They refused to take action older than dosing my three and a half pound dog with valium. They would not give her oxygen or any other life-saving measures until I gave them a perfect signature and paid them money. I am genuinely so shocked that any of you would have wasted your money going to veterinary school or getting vet tech training just to do this with your time and career. Absolutely shameful and I hope this place gets looked into and shut down. Dr Grant you should be so deeply ashamed of yourself for not upholding the requirements of your Veterinary license. Go back to your little synchronized swimming where whatever you do doesn't affect anyone's life or leave animals dead while you stand there with your callous demonic expression on your face. read more

Tri-County saw my 11 month old puppy at 9:30 pm on a Saturday evening. After spiking a fever that wouldn't break, they admitted her and never left her side. My dog tested positive for parvo during her stay and the doctors, technicians and staff quite literally saved her life. I cannot say thank you enough for the care she received. We did have to transfer her to a day-time facility on the Monday morning they closed, so that was a bit scary. However, she wouldn't be here without the care she received at Tri-County. The cost... well it's kind of astronomical... but that's kind of to be expected with an emergency facility, and it was worth it to see my sweet girl make it through the scariest weekend we've ever had. DO NOT GO TO TRI-COUNTY ANIMAL EMERGENCY CLINIC IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!! Today my dog came inside from being let out and sneezed. There was blood coming every time he sneezed and was not stopping. We were unable to to go to our regular vet because it was after hours, so what do you do? You drive to the 24 hour veterinarian. Blood is all over my kitchen, my car, and all over him. We literally were still in our slippers as we went to them desperate for help. We are able to get into the front entry way and talk to the front desk through an intercom and tell her what's happening. She proceeds to go get the "doctor" who comes and asks us if he was poisoned. We said we let him out, he came inside and sneezed, and the blood started. He was literally bleeding all over in this small entryway that, TO BE COURTEOUS, I took him back outside so that there wouldn't be as much inside. THE DOCTOR DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT MY DOG!! She claimed that they did not have a scope to look in his nose, I talked with my sister about this who has worked in vets offices and she thought that it was very odd for them to say that because that should be something they have, especially considering they are an emergency clinic. She just handed my husband a paper through some weird mail hole in the glass that had directions to the University of Illinois veterinary clinic. We get back in the car ready to drive all the way to Champaign and I tell my husband to call them to tell them we are coming. On the phone with them the woman was VERY SURPRISED THAT HE HADN'T HAD ANY WORK DONE, THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE DONE THIS ALL BECAUSE OF COVID! They recommended that we try to ice his nose as best as possible to stop the bleeding but didn't recommend we drive all the way there because it would likely stop and his regular vet could help him. Luckily, I was able to get into contact with my vet through Facebook who gave us a lot of comfort and helped us through it. He will be seeing his regular doctor in the morning. I have never had to use this clinic before and I will definitely never use them. I am completely appalled that they refused to see him, I would have had no problem staying outside because of the fear of the virus but it is totally unfair, unethical, and inhumane for what they did. To not even comfort us or try to give any help in anyway is ridiculous. As of right now we are home, the bleeding has stopped but we are keeping a very close eye on him. He did not like the ice and the bleeding started up again because of the fighting it. He is currently sleeping on his favorite spot on the couch and is acting normally. We will be taking him to our vet in the morning. read more

The worst place i ever experienced.. The Lady at the desk would make fun of who called after she hung up to everyone in the place about their not being able to pay the $135 walk-in fee and she would mock them. They wouldn't help me bring my dying dog that weighed 91 lb into the building. I had to drag him. Then I had to wait 2 and 1/2 hours in the waiting room while a girl walked in to take her dog right back to the back because she worked there because her dog didn't drink enough water and left my dog in pain laying on the floor. Then when they finally told me to come back to the room I said I can't lift him. Can I get help? They told me no. When I get him in the room shut the door behind me so I had to drag my dog across the waiting room into the room he was going to be in. They literally seen him for one minute. Told me he was dying and was in a lot of pain and I needed to let him go. They took one x-ray and charged me $700 and told me if I didn't pay it that they were going to make me take him home with nothing. It was the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life. A young man that had backed up over his dog volunteered and got up and came and helped me drag my dog to the room. Nobody was helping me. Everybody was laughing and having a good time making fun of people that was calling in about their pets. I have never in my life seen anything more horrible. I will never ever go there again and nobody should go there. They think they can treat people like this bc they are the only ones that are close..i just can't understand how ppl that work in an animal hospital could watch my dog in pain like that and not help..i am pursuing this for sure just to make sure they don't keep doing this.. You could of been one of the people that called that night in the 2 and 1/2 hours that I had to sit there and listen to her mock. Every single person that called....it was horrific.. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Metzler and the incredible staff. They keep calm under the pressure of treating many sick animals at once. We've unfortunately had to utilize their services more than once, but we're grateful it's so close to our house in case we need them. Both times that we've had to bring a kitty in for some medical attention, they have taken great care of us and always identified the issue with effective treatment options. I can also appreciate the fact that they triage appropriately, as there were other pets in more immediate need of medical attention than ours were, and they addressed those issues first. I have mixed emotions about this place. I have been there 2x. I had one nice doctor who tried to help. ( he was not able to but at least try) and one absolutely awful doctor ( female) who stoped talking to me after 3 minutes, stating she has another emergency ( because my pup was not emergency enough?) She never got the full history of the pet health conditions and did not ask for my permition to administer meds. Just gave an injection. Uhhh..... may the fleas eat her! I had 2 receptionists i was dealing with. One great and one awfull. The awful girl I was talking to had no compassion. When I asked for an update after 3 hours of waiting I was told to sit down and wait. She even raised her voice at me. :-( I had one receptionist that was absolutely awesome. Only thank to him this clinic is getting possitive review. I remember only his name, since he is the only one worth remembering. So ...... Dale, you are awesome. I needed you there in the hard times. You were nice to me and super nice to Lili. I even saw you kissed her little head. You helped me administer her meds and show me how to do it. Thank you , Thank you , Thank you. The employees were very unwelcoming and unfriendly besides one man at the front desk and the female doctor we had the first night there. The woman at the front desk with the tattoos on her arms was extremely rude both days I was there. She is the wrong person to have greeting customers. She talks to you like you are an idiot. On our second visit there my dog who had surgery the week before at 12 1/2 years old was still having alot of pain. The doctor was going to have someone come get here and give her injections. The woman came in and tried to pick my 12 lb dog up under her belly...remember she had surgery just one week before. I tried to warn her. My dog nipped at her and the woman just looked at me and said well it's a good thing she didn't break the skin. I apologized and said she is normally the sweetest dog ever. When she brought my dog back after her injections I apologized again and said she would never do that normally. She asked me if I had had her long and I said yes, her whole life. She asked if she just started acting that way? Lady, you work in an emergency animal clinic. We weren't there for a well visit check up. She was not feeling well! From beginning to end it was a very cold and uncomfortable visit. I won't be back. read more

I know that this place is in an awful location--and people see them when things are really bad, but I just want to say that they are fantastic. I visited there the evening of 7/26 with a dehydrated gerbil. Although they don't treat "pocket pets," Dr. Zagoda saw my Louise and gave her fluids.They only charged me for a visit (not the $95 on top of the visit which they're supposed to). And the staff was extremely nice. I saw a regular vet the next day who gave my gerbil an antibiotic and pain meds. Still, that night, she was declining, not eating, not drinking, couldn't take medication and started to have seizures. I called several vets (including the emergency vet in Bloomington and the emergency vet at U of I in Champaign) and talked to my sister, a pharmacist and expert pet owner. All said that it was time to make that difficult decision. I called Tri-County and went to see Dr. Metzler and his staff. Both were very, very kind while I said good bye to my pet. They waited for me to pray with her and then allowed me to stay and see her at peace after the painless procedure. When I tried to pay, they indicated that there was no charge for last night's visit. I'm sure I was crying too hard to compliment them on how well they did for me and my pet, so I thought I'd post it here.
