I took my barely used 20 yr old bike in there to get new tires and a tube up and a new seat…read more After new tires were added, I found I could not use the bike because I needed a "horse mounting box" to get on and off and finding one when I needed it was not realistic, so there was no need to buy a new seat. They gave me a seat AND they showed me a Specialized (brand) Roll (model) with a low bar entry. I came back to buy one, but they didn't have the size I needed so they searched the other stores and found me one in their Glenside store. I wanted it before their weekly swap day, so I picked it up in Glenside. Fritz had a simple and amazing fix for my knee pain--raising the seat. I took a quick spin down the street. It was amazing! i remembered how much I enjoy riding. And. no more pain! I then took the bike back to Paoli where Sig mounted (and recommended) the "running lights" and odometer the shop sold me as well as the "basket" I bought on Amazon. He also took the initiative to fix the mottled paint job under the handlebar. THANK YOU!!! Tomorrow I am hitting the bike trail for the first time in about 20 years. I highly recommend this store. This store says they'll service any bike but I found out that was not true after I went through some trouble to bring it in after being told I could only to be treated like I did something wrong with a very bad attitude from the manager there named Jeff when i got there. I was really surprised to be treated that way by him since I stopped in the store ahead of time and clearly explained the kind of ebike I had and the repair needed just to make sure it was okay and was told it was by him. I just needed a crank arm replaced and Jeff told me they would do that no problem... until I got there. The mechanics there were very nice and helpful! They loved my ebike and were eager to help me but Jeff was not having it citing "liability reasons" because my bike is "too fast". What a strange excuse considering the crank on this ebike is not connected to the motor in any way which was clearly explained and even demonstrated in front of him. The bike is over 200 lbs so it cannot ever be pedaled as fast as a regular bike making the "too fast" excuse a really bad one. Jeff wouldn't even wait for me to put my riding gear back on before he was wheeling my ebike out of the store. My wife who followed me over and was waiting in the car asked me "what was that guy's problem?" Just from the wry look on his face as he wheeled my bike out. What a complete waste of time! After calling The Velo Shop and Perkiomen Bicycles they were both willing to help with no surprises so it was just bad luck bringing my ebike to a bad place.

When I called to make sure they could fit me in, Rob, the GM, was very friendly and encouraged me to bring my bike in whenever it was convenient. When I arrived, both Rob and Kyleem (sp?) were courteous and welcoming. Rob gave my bike a once over so we would have an idea of what all would be required in the tuneup-and he didn't do it in the typical I'll-talk-down-to-you-because-you're-a-woman way most bike shops do. Kyleem chatted with me about bikes and gave me a lot of good info about the differences between two group sets on a new Giant I'm thinking about buying. They promised my bike would be ready the next day and sure enough, I got an email the next afternoon that it was ready to pick up. I got the same friendly service when I picked up my bike, and the cost for tuneup and hub repair was super reasonable. If you need service or maybe a new bike, definitely give this shop a try. You won't be disappointed.

I thought that maybe the shifter or front derailleur may have been bad. Johnathan took all of 5 seconds to diagnose and fix the problem. It seems that the cable from the shifter to the front derailleur was way too loose. I offered him money for his time and expertise, but he said it was "on the house for such an easy repair!" Johnathan is an expert mechanic and an all-around good guy! He did a similar repair about two years ago on a Cannondale mountain bike that I brought in. I'm pretty sure he didn't charge for that, either. From now on, Johnathan will be my go-to bike mechanic! I would happily give Havertown Bike Shop more stars if possible.
