After trying out a few bikes, I found out Firehouse Cycles carried the bike and color I was interested in. Not only did I walk out with a bike I loved, but I also had the best experience at Firehouse Cycles. Buying a bike can be a huge investment, regardless of if you're getting your first bike to ride around town or looking for a top of the line race bike. So whatever your price point, you want someone who will be sensible, thoughtful, and helpful. And as with any purchase, you want to leave feeling excited, confident, and assured about your new item and the service you received. That's exactly what you'll get at Firehouse Cycles - the perfect shopping experience. I called ahead asking if they had the bike, color, and size I needed. Mike, the owner, offered to hold the bike for me for several days until I could make it out there. Mike was extremely well-informed, patient, and welcoming. I learned a lot about my new bike in the process, and felt comfortable to ask any and all questions. Within thirty minutes, my bike was ready to go fitted with all the accessories I had requested. Plus he picked water bottles and a helmet to match my new bike. This was also a great place to test ride a new bike: they have a large parking lot and quiet neighborhood around back. He offered to drive the bike to our house even though we live 40 minutes away! As you can see in other reviews, this is the norm. When I let him know this bike would be coming with me back to Cleveland, he said to never hesitate reaching out if I ever needed help with my bike. Mike also helped us pick out two bike racks for two separate cars, and even took the time to teach us how to set it up and secure our new bike. I left the shop with a huge smile on my face. After taking a close look, the team explained that the bike had not been assembled properly originally and that completely disassembling and rebuilding it likely wouldn't be worth the cost. Instead of simply sending us away, the staff at Sourland Cycles went above and beyond. They made all the necessary adjustments right there while I waited, got the bike riding safely again, and then told me not to worry about the cost. Service, care, and genuine kindness can be hard to find these days, but the team at Sourland Cycles demonstrated all three. Their honesty, generosity, and willingness to help left a lasting impression on me. The sessions were extremely helpful, detail oriented and not rushed at all. We learned a lot from him. He trains elite cycling teams and is an engineer, so he has a lot to offer in terms of insights and knowledge. Despite the high level of services and expertise that Kyle and Arounkone bring to the table, their services and sales are extremely reasonable. It's basically saying, I don't care about your $3,000 deposit commitment, I don't care about your patience of waiting over a year and still not knowing when your bikes will arrive and I don't care that you are choosing us to do business with as first time bicycle buyers. it's basically saying, we have people lined up that will take your place, you are just a number on a "laundry list" to us. We really wanted to have a long lasting relationship with this LBS. Got my full deposit refunded to me, will rather wait a few years to get the bikes we want from another bike shop than few month with this shop. I will never return to them for anything, ever. Looks like their over inflated egos have overgrown good old fashioned customer care, loyalty, resolution and respect. You don't treat a client like there's a laundry list to replace you, you treat your client as if he/she is the only one on that list. Period.
