Took my newish bike in to have sleeker road tires put on, and asked if I could get a "post break-in period" tweak on the brake and gear cables. Get a text saying it would cost $240. Whoa. Too much. And they say it needs a new chain and brake pads. The bike is only 6 months old, maybe has 400 miles on it. Please just do the tires. Okay, that will be $110. Go to pick it up, charge is $200 for tires and tune up. ANNOYED. read more

One of the screws fell out of my bike shoes--didn't want to spend $7+ to get a SINGLE screw shipped to me, so I figured I'd swing by to see if they had any I could grab for cheaper. It's huge inside--you can tell they have a sizable inventory, and the staff were all very friendly. They found the perfect screw from my vocal description (I forgot the shoe like a dummy), and just gave it to me. For free. I'll be going back for anything I need--it's hard to find truly kind people out there and these folks are it. Give 'em a visit! read more

My family and I had a wonderful customer service experience at this bike shop in the heart of Phoenixville. The shop is larger than it appears on the outside, and has considerable inventory. I'm terribly behind in posting this review (we purchased two bikes here in July), but I think the Sales Associates that helped us out were Amy and Rollie (Roland). Both went above and beyond, made sure we were comfortable on the bikes (took a spin in the parking lot/alley behind the store) and we were properly fitted for new helmets. My husband wanted a bike rack for his car, as well, and another associate actually installed it on the spot. Before we set off for home, Rollie made sure the bikes were securely on the racks, and that we were given plenty of pointers for loading the rack in the future. So happy to have discovered this local gem, and we will definitely return for bike maintenance and accessories. read more

Independent bike shops are almost always better than the chains, and I'm glad I drove the 20 minutes to Twisted Cog rather than the 5 minute trip to the chain near my office. Greeted at the door, no rush to explain my bike's issues, and no hurry to get me out the door. I took my bike in on a Wednesday for major work and didn't expect it for a month since it is riding season. Ed the owner told me to expect it back by the weekend, unheard of from almost any shop. Despite having several good bike shops extremely close to my house, I always take the extra 20 mile trip to take my bikes out to Twisted Cog and have these guys work on them. I wouldn't trust anyone else as much as I trust these people to work on my bikes, this is the best shop! read more

My experience at this bike shop was fantastic! Everyone who works there is enthusiastic about cycling and relaxed about sales. I called about needing a bike with absolutely no experience in actually shopping for one. I've been a happy customer pretty much since they opened. They have it all -- great helpful attitude, selection, repair and service. But this is my first review, mainly because of my most recent repair experience. My road bike began making loud, almost metallic noises after 15-20 minutes on the road. Could not find the cause no matter what I tried. Called Twisted Cog, and Ed zeroed in on it right away with a clear, helpful explanation. He was right. And not only was the repair spot-on and very reasonably priced, but as I've found with TC, they seem to do the little extra things that are the difference between good -- and really, really good. All the little sounds I thought were just part of the bike -- gone. It rolls and free-wheels like there was no such thing as friction. Now, my bike's as quiet as a church on Saturday night. read more

I walked in off the street and told them about my bike's loose bottom bracket, then they gave me a rough estimate and told me to bring it in. I came back 10 minutes later with my bike, and they told me to come back in an hour. I returned in an hour and they had repacked the bearings and fixed my issue. That sounds just like how that story should have gone right? Excellent, fast, and honest service. They don't make you feel like your questions are dumb, and they don't try to sell you on stuff you don't need. read more

I've been neglecting my bike and in the last few months I needed new tires and a repair to my gears. Both times they quickly fixed both issues on the spot and were very friendly and helpful. Bought two bikes here. Both were reasonably priced after shopping around online. The shopping experience was great. We were total biking novices, and I was worried because I can sometimes feel awkward when dealing with sales people, but the guy didn't try to pressure me or upsell us on anything. He was really helpful. We got to ride our bikes around in the lot behind the store. It has been nearly a year, and both bikes have held up really well. I had one issue with changing gears, and they fixed it free of charge. The purchase also came with a free one-month tuneup. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the market for a bike. read more

While everyone there is experienced and knowledgeable, they are welcoming to riders of all levels, always friendly and helpful, and they seem to do the opposite of up-selling. They've fixed issues on my bike on the spot, and have done some excellent mechanical work on my beat-up old road bike. I brought my road bike in twice for service here and had an excellent experience on both occasions. First was for a quick fix to my chain and then to have my bike tuned up before a Half Ironman. When I received my bike back after the tune up it was like a brand new bike. I wanted a specific 2018 bike made by Giant and this shop sells Giant bicycles and based on reviews I decided to shop there. I initially dealt with Ryan and he was laid back, low pressure(this was on 4-20). He was patient and answered all my questions on bikes and various accessories I was interested in. I had a print out from the manufacturer of the bike(and its specs) I wanted which they didn't have in stock but he did find some comparable models in two different sizes to let me test ride. At this point I expected some type of measuring or gauging to determine appropriate size but Ryan just seemed to eyeball things. No information or instructions on what I should be feeling as far as fit/comfort. I decided I liked the feel of the larger of the two bikes so that was the size they ordered. I paid MSRP in full for the bike in cash upfront. No discount for cash or full payment and no offer of any type of discounts on accessories purchased with a new bike. Not great but its a tight market, rent is high and competing with the internet is rough so it was acceptable to me for a brick and mortar shop with real people. I try to support small brick and mortar businesses when I can. I was still satisfied with my purchase at that point. I didn't believe the timeline I was given for when the bike would be in and I was right but I would not have been able get to the store when they claimed it would be in and ready so not a huge deal to me but they still didn't meet their stated timeline. I got the call yesterday morning so I was able to head to the store first thing this morning(Fri, 4-27) when they opened which was after work for me. I went intending to buy a few other things for the bike. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door and offered help. Ryan was helping another customer so I told the employee who greeted me that I was there to pick up a bike but wanted to look around first. He insisted he could get me the bike while I looked. So he asked which bike, my name and for a receipt. Gave it to him and then started looking but he was back almost immediately with the bike and the owners manual. He pushed the bike at me, shoved owners manual in my face and told me to have a nice day like he wanted me to get out. I asked about getting the seat adjusted properly for me so he pulled out a multi-tool and loosened the seat and changed the height, said that looks right for you, and as I was getting on the bike to try it he walked away. So after spending 600 bucks(which is a large purchase for me) on a bike they couldn't even be bothered to adjust the seat height for me correctly. I decided to buy the accessories I wanted elsewhere. I loaded the bike into my car, went home and looked up how to adjust my seat and then dug out the tools I needed to to do it and spent 25 minutes getting it set up correctly. Also checked the air pressure in the tires and they were too low as well. I'm hoping I don't have any real problems with the bike because in the future I'd rather go somewhere else for my future biking needs if at all possible. I really wanted to like this bike shop and while its not the worse experience I've ever had dealing with a business it really wasn't great, imo, either. Maybe my expectations were too high though...I'm not sure. In any case I'm not happy with the overall experience but I'm happy to have a new bike to ride....hopefully it will be problem free. read more
