I went to Koniver Aesthetics for AviClear laser treatments. I had been suffering from acne for over a decade and I was told this would "cure it", or I would get my money back. I was also informed that it would take up to a year to see the results. After a year my skin was still terrible. At this time I was told by Koniver Aesthetics that it could NOW possibly take a year and a half. Obviously this was upsetting, but I waited. Around 18 months after the procedures my skin seemed to be worse than ever. I was livid. I reached out to their team and I was simply told there was nothing that could be done. I wanted to get on social media and write bad reviews for the establishment everywhere I could possibly find. Though, I was so depressed I didn't even have the motivation to do that. So why am I speaking out now? Well, I was wrong when I initially thought my skin was worse than ever. I spent thousands of dollars and waited 2 years to see results. My skin never improved, in fact I am pretty sure in the last couple of weeks I have reached the pinnacle of disgust with the state of my skin. I am crying as I write this and I thought maybe after spending $3000 + at this business, there might be something they would be willing to do. Also, I happened to have an interview for a position at Koniver Wellness last month and I was told that the owner was a kind person. I thought that maybe that was a sign and reaching out can't hurt. All I can ask is if there might be SOMETHING they would want to do to remedy the situation. I sent them basically the same message as I have written above and they actually did respond asking if I wanted to come in .... almost a month ago. I said I would like to. I have not heard back since. My diet has not changed. My health is good. I get every acne product that aestheticians suggests and facials from other facilities all the time. I do EVERYTHING I can to take care of my skin. This successful business took over $3000 dollars from me and now has stopped responding to me.... Below is what I look like now. I've went to Lowcountry Derma for about two years and usually saw Carrie Zipperer PA. She handled…read morevery minor things, so for the most part, my experiences were positive. That was until a few months ago when Dr. Wilson (who is no longer there) removed a very small benign mass from under my skin. Before removing I confirmed that it would be stitched and that it should take around two weeks to close. I was told yes to both, so I went ahead and had it done. After the procedure I was told I could shower normally 24 hours later and keep it covered with regular bandaids until I had the stitches removed. I followed the instructions exactly. At two weeks I saw a medical tech for the suture removal, but before allowing her to remove them--confirmed that the wound looked good and closed. She said it was. Fast-forward two days when I started to feel pain in the area (after just sweeping my porch). The wound OPENED up! I went back and saw the PA and she advised that yes, it had opened up and that it may be infected. She gave me a cream and told me that I'd be healed in a week. Again, I followed her instructions exactly. A week later it looked even worse. At that point I didn't trust anyone there so I made an appointment with a wound care center. SIX weeks later I'm still dealing with the aftermath. This story has a lot more medical details, but to make a long story short--from too few stitches being put in, telling me I could get it wet just 24 hours after, stitches being removed too soon, not taking care of the wound properly after it reopened, and having me use bandages that were causing terrible irritation to my skin--Lowcountry Derma got everything wrong. Crystal took the time for a personalized consultation on the current state of his skin and beard before the service began so it could be tailored to his needs and concerns. He normally has issues with dry skin and ingrown hairs given the coarse texture of his beard. Crystal approached his service with meticulous attention to detail and took special care and concern for any problem areas and necessary extractions as part of the standard service. He found the high frequency component a little weird and said the electric current stung a little in places where the beard was thicker but overall really enjoyed the service and would like to continue the services provided as a part of his regular maintenance routine, just maybe without the high frequency component. There were 2 things in my experience that caused me frustration: 1) The front-office seemed very disorganized. They scheduled and rescheduled nearly every appointment multiple times and at the last minute. For my actual surgery date, they rescheduled the date and time without notifying me. I only found out because I reached out thinking it was mistake when they sent me an appointment confirmation email. Luckily, my work is flexible and I was able to make it work but I could see that becoming a bigger issue for someone who doesn't have flexibility. 2) While Dr. Costa was highly experienced and polite enough, if I'm being honest, I felt like just another number. For my 2 follow-up appointments, I waited an hour just to have a quick 5-minute check-in that were both pretty pointless. I was expecting him to really look and feel my post-op nose and discuss how it was recovering. Instead, he quickly popped in and asked if I had any questions or concerns (without even really looking at my nose). When I did ask a question, he was dismissive and defensive as if he assumed that I was expressing dissatisfaction even though I assured him it was strictly curiosity. I wish I had found a doctor who was more attentive and personable. Dr. Costa has a lot of great reviews so maybe my experience was a bit of a fluke. My only advice to anyone seeking a plastic surgeon is to shop around to find a doctor/practice that you feel good about -- trust your gut and speak up.

So I bought my Groupon for the small area option, opting to get my underarms done since it's a less conspicuous area in case something goes awry. Then I called and made an appointment that was almost 2 months away. Ugh, the cost of being on Groupon I guess. I had already done my research and I knew that since I'm naturally dark-haired and fair-skinned, it makes me the perfect candidate for laser hair removal. Pasty whiteness for the win (sidenote: I'm really not THAT white)! The first appointment I was a little nervous because I've heard everything from it hurts like holy hell to it's not painful at all. I would rate the pain of my first appointment at a 5 on a scale of 1-10, with it being about the equivalent of waxing. I was given the warning that it feels like a rubberband being flicked against the skin, which I'd say is a pretty accurate description. I won't lie, it hurt but definitely nothing unbearable. And the good news is that the whole procedure only lasts a few minutes (well, for underarms. Something like getting your legs done would probably be 20+ minutes. I would suggest NOT to start out with a big area!). I just had my second (out of three) appointments today. From the time I walked in, I was in and out in under 10 minutes and this time, I'd only rate the pain at a 2. Appointments are spaced a month apart to allow for the new hair growth cycle and after that initial appointment, I've barely had to shave. It's been glorious! The best part is that once you buy your first Groupon, they offer Groupon prices for anything else you want to get done after that. And now I already have a mental tally of everything in order that I'm planning to laser. I'm not going to go the Kim Kardashian route and become completely hairless or anything like that but to not have to shave my legs or underarms ever again?! Girls, you know what I'm talking about! In 2009, I lost my breast to cancer. As the tumor was aggressive, I had to have a radical mastectomy and complete axillary dissection. Dr. O'Neill is a very kind physician and he proved to be very skilled in Breast Cancer Reconstruction, as well. He performed a DIEP-FLAP surgery, which still looks great 13 years later.
