Every single specialist he has sent me to has been excellent!!! 7 years ago, I moved 45 minutes away from Newtown - but I still kept Dr. Filips as my primary care doctor!! I would rather travel a bit knowing I am going to a great doctor. He is friendly, and very knowledgeable in his field. He takes the time to explain everything to you. I debated about whether or not I should write this review but considering that nobody from their…read morestaff reached out after I provided a 0 rating on their automatic text survey I figured I'd provide my feedback and concerns here. First and foremost a persons health is one of the most important things in the world and as a relatively healthy person who's never had any surgeries procedures or health complications this one time where I found myself in need of proper care while away from home I expected to receive quality care at this location which I unfortunately did not. I came in for what I thought was a tailbone injury (although I did not have a fall or trauma & tried to rationalize it as maybe a strain from my workout- all of which was expressed and explained). The nurse practitioner Mr. Bassi agreed with MY own non-medical opinion and prescribed me muscle relaxers and ibuprofen after not even performing an evaluation of the pain site or even ordering any X-rays. I even asked if it were possible that I had a pilondial cyst considering how much swelling I had and he, without even taking a look, dismissed the notion stating that a cyst would not appear that quickly. So I said ok. And went on my way to pickup the meds. Two days after my visit I called the office once again to state that I felt my pain was worsening and i was super tired from the muscle relaxer (which I was supposed to be taking 3 times a day per his order) & I didn't feel as though I received a proper evaluation (I wasn't even sent home with a visit summary). I asked if he were in so I could speak with him and was told he was not and that I could come back but would still have to pay another $130 out of pocket since they didn't accept my insurance. Why would I come back and pay to be improperly diagnosed again?? So thankfully I trusted my gut and went to Liberty Urgent care in the Huntington valley marketplace and I AM SO GRATEFUL I DID! The doctor actually had me lower my pants to get a look at me and told me immediately that what I had was an abscess not a tailbone injury and he performed an incision and drained it. I came back the next day for a follow up where the doctor unpacked and took a look and saw that it was healing properly (I was not charged for my follow up by the way- not that I would've cared because you can't put a price on your health) Who knows what could have happened had I not gone to a skilled physician who prescribed the proper antibiotics and topical ointments to actually treat me properly. I wouldn't recommend AFC to my enemies if I had any. I should've known I was not in good hands when I overheard a pharmacy calling to speak to him about why he prescribed an antibiotic to a patient who was allergic. Yikes! Think twice before coming here.
