Can't believe it's been two months since our special wedding day, but with Tri Luu Films, my wife and I are able to relive the lovely memories from that day forever. Many months before the wedding, I searched for videographers and wedding video packages that suited our taste, where we wanted candid, yet dreamy/fairytale shots of our day, along with videos of our ceremonies (tea ceremony & Western ceremony), all while being within a certain budget. After sending in quotes and meeting with some videographers, it was a challenge to find the one that really matched what we needed. Luckily, I got in touch with Tri Luu Films through one of the wedding sites that recommended him, and saw some of his work on Vimeo, including a wedding short that was at the venue we were getting married at. Tri was such a pleasure to work with from the get-go. He met with us to talk about our ideal style and "must captures," and knowing that he was familiar with our venue in San Jose as well as having experience with capturing tea ceremonies is really what sold us. They were even onboard when I mentioned that I would be surprising the bride with a musical performance during the reception, and were able to capture that. On the day of, Tri Luu and his team were fantastic - incredibly professional, kind, and understanding of timeline shifts. Something I really appreciated was that they know when it's appropriate to step-in and give advice on good video shots versus when to be more in the background and let the photographers do their thing. Our wedding video package included a trailer, wedding short, and a documentary. The trailer was great and made me hyped to see the rest of the filming, and it also got to us less than three weeks from the wedding! The wedding short film I liked because it included some short lines from vows, speeches, dances, and ceremonies and various snippets from the wedding. The documentary, though, was definitely what I was waiting for - over an hour of great footage, edited chronologically for us to relive the best day of my life. I could tell it was done with great care because everything flowed well, there were transitions showing off the venue where the next part of the wedding was at, and the background music was perfect. Tri is an amazing photographer and videographer, but how he truly exceeds is in his editing skills. He created a touching, personal full-length film of our wedding, and a shorter feature film to show to family and friends (along with a few fun previews while we were waiting). At first, we only asked him for the photos package, but after hearing from other couples that regret not having a video, we added on the video package as well. We're so glad we did! There are so many moments you miss, especially as the bride. In particular, I loved being able to watch all the speeches everyone wrote for us, to see the flower girls and ring bearer walk down the aisle, to see how happy my grandma was that night, and, of course, the highlights reel of all our guests dancing at the end of the night. Initially we were going back and forth on hiring a videographer for our wedding but then we found Tri and im so glad we did. Tri was our videographer for our wedding in 2022! Where do I begin... Planning a wedding during the pandemic (when I got engaged) was SUPER stressful. I interviewed a lot of videographer I found on IG mainly to find the right person who understood my Asian parent's idea of wanting a "raw" copy of the wedding bc they didn't like that most videographer nowadays cut out all the important scene with their edits ( I didn't mind ). Anyways, all the videographer at the time wanted to charge an "A La Carte" to give me the raw copy which was kind of ridiculous for me bc I didn't ask them to edit out any footage and just give it to me as is ( I'm a video editor myself so I get it) . So I talked to a DJ I met at Asian Hustle Network Mixer for a real estate event and he recommended me Tri! I went home later that week and decided to reach out to Tri. I explained to Tri my situation and he was like "michelle, you don't need the raw footage, one of this package I offer basically captures everything from beginning to end" and he sends me the video sample of it and instantly I was sold! Fast forward to our consultation appt with my fiancé and him going over how our wedding would be like from tea ceremony to taking a break into reception then exiting reception, Tri understood the assignment! I debated if I wanted to have a wedding video at all due to the cost. I thought this could be an area where I'd save a few grand. However, after watching and being moved by others' wedding videos, I decided that I needed the documentation and souvenir. Photographs are great but seeing live movement and having it accompanied by a moving backtrack is so much more moving! I opted with Tri-Luu after researching many other videographers. Tri and his team were amazing. They worked well with my photographer and were so out of my hair during my two-day wedding process that I felt like they weren't there at all. My fear in having a videographer was that they'd be ever-so-present and known in every moment of the day and that they'd orchestrate false ambience or hype in order to get a better video. We are so glad that we hired Tri Luu films to create a highlight video of our wedding. Tri has a creative knack for creating a truly cinematic product, that, in the words of one of my guests, made our wedding look like a preview for a romantic comedy (in a good way!). What he created captured the exuberance, fun, and love of our event which made more than one viewer cry (many of which weren't even at the wedding!). My husband and I weren't going to get a videographer because we found that they were all prohibitively expensive. When asked what is the most important thing I would spend any amount on, I responded..photography. I wanted to make sure I captured the entire wedding day in the style and passion I had hoped for. Now looking back, I'm so glad that we decided to also include videography. At first, videography was not in our budget, but after talking to a close friend whom recently got married and seeing several wedding videos being posted on Facebook, I just had to have it. A video tells more of a story that a photograph can't. It also brings back the memories of your vows and emotions, the live actions of major events (first dance, father/daughter, mother/son, cake cutting etc.), and more. We are so THANKFUL that we had the opportunity to work with Tri. Not only was he our videographer, he was also the salesman at Shane Co. who sold my engagement ring to my husband. Little did we know that he was also in the videography business until he filmed my best friend's sister's wedding. He's a talented individual and will work with you to capture your dreams. He communicates with you to understand your vision as well as providing his own input and suggestions. He's quick to his feet and you don't even realize he was there at your wedding filming. During the reception, Tri surprised us with a Same Day Edit video after our slideshow. I almost came to tears just watching the morning portion happen all over again. It was like a blink of an eye with everything happening so fast that day. Three months after the wedding, I was able to watch our 15 minute Featured Film and relive the moment again. He did such an amazing job editing the video and adding songs to compliment the moment. I enjoyed sharing our video with our friends and family, and I can't wait to show them to our children and hopefully grand children one day. If asked again, what is the most important thing one should spend the money on, I would highly suggest videography and definitely Tri and his team. read more

My wife and I absolutely loved working with Tri and couldn't be happier! Tri was very professional, creative and artistic in his filming and editing. He's also very experienced in wedding ceremonies; he's an artist that didn't need to be told what to do and which events to capture, he just knew what to do right away which is exactly what we were looking for.
