Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. I stopped 5/7/25 around 9:30pm. I stop here all…read morethe time and usually don't have issues and I'm a super easy person to get along with. The African American girl with the long braids probably around 5"7 was so rude to me she didn't know the difference between left and right and I guess she doesn't know how to read I was super polite when I asked for the 5% classic tobacco Njoy pods in the light brown box I continued to be nice and say "the last ones on the left" she then proceeded to start jerking the pods off the shelf after she finally found them and wanted to argue with me over the color of the box and then tried to intimidate me by having a stare off and she got even ruder after that so I decided to be rude back. She does not need a job in customer service because she had the nastiest attitude I have ever seen. Idc if you're having a bad day or whatever is going on you leave that at the door when you clock in. I am not the type of person you want a problem with and I am super nice bubbly person and usually get along with everyone just fine. Please fire her she doesn't belong in customer service. She wasn't just rude to me she was rude to the girl in front of me and the man behind me. I didn't know simple comprehension skills don't exist anymore. It's a shame because I really liked this store and the other ladies that worked here

Their praces are about the lowest in this area and the staff has always helped me in a friendly manor when I have made purchases there. This Pilot is conveniently located just off I-40/I-85 exit 132 (Mount Hope Church Road) in McLeansville, North Carolina. Having grown up in nearby High Point in the 80s and 90s and regularly traveling back and forth between the Triangle and Atlanta since 2020, I hadn't heard of McLeansville until now. Over about the last couple of years, I've learned that Pilot Flying J (Pilot and Flying J merged in 2009) are the best stops for gas and restroom breaks on the merged stretch of I-40 and I-85 in North Carolina, between the Triad and the Triangle. If anyone knows better, please educate me. On this stretch, there are Pilots at exits 132 (this one in McLeansville), 150 (Haw River), and 152 (Mebane). There's also a Flying J across the street from the Pilot at exit 150. I think the only comparable gas station/truck stop on the same stretch is the TA Travel Center at exit 138 (Whitsett). I'll probably have left Yelp reviews for each of these places before our time in the Triangle is up. I-40 overlaps with I-85 between I-40 exits 227 and 259. In between those exits, the I-85 exit numbers, 131 to 163, prevail. This Pilot is situated close to the west end of the overlap, near Greensboro. Relatively speaking, this Pilot in McLeansville is spacious, clean, and well-stocked. It's no QuikTrip, RaceTrac, or Love's, but it's one of the closest things you'll find to those brands around here. My four-star rating is relative to the area. I counted 14 pumps at the filling station. There are Dunkin' and Wendy's fast food restaurants on-site. This is Pilot Travel Center store #7937. It's open 24/7.

On the evening of Jan. 24 I stopped at this store to get some gas. I prepaid $55 in cash at the register, but it only took $30 to fill up my tank. After a long night at work, I was so tired that I forgot to go back in to get the rest of my money ($25). When I was halfway home I realized I had forgotten the rest of my money and I immediately turned around to go back and get it. When I got there I was told by the cashier and the manager on duty at that time (lady with the short red hair) what had happened. She politely explained to me that she couldn't give me back my money at that moment because they were in a shift change and they would be short money if they took it out of the cash drawer at the moment, but if I came back the next morning they would give it back to me. She was very nice and recognized me as a regular customer. So I came back this morning (Jan. 25). I started to be explain to the young lady behind the register my story and before I was even halfway finished a lady from the back yelled out at "Nobody told me anything about that and that's all on you!" She continued with, "We cant do anything for you!" Despite being amazed at the way she was speaking to me, I calmly began to tell her that the manager last night told me that if I came back in the morning they could give me back the rest of my money. She angrily said "She can't do anything for you either!" I tried one last time by asking if she would be back later today so I could speak to her about it since she was the original manager I talked to. This lady yelled at me "No! This is MY store! MY STORE! I'm in charge here! As someone who works in customer service, I can say that this lady who claimed to be a manager this morning was VERY rude and unprofessional. She should not be in a management position. If she had just politely talked to me like the red haired lady from last night did and told me she couldnt refund me cash but could compensate me with maybe a complimentary drink or a discount on a snack (I usually buy their Krispy Kreme doughnuts and an energy drink) I would have been fine with that. But instead she spoke to me as if I was I was trying steal money from the store. If the training team or the owner is reading this I want you to know that as frequent customer of this store I do not appreciate the way this manager spoke to me this morning and I don't feel comfortable coming in to this store now. Is this the way you want your staff (particularly management) to speak to customers?? I would highly suggest that this lady, whoever she is, receive some kind of disciplinary action, before she rudely speaks to another customer like this again.

At the time of writing this review, this is the last QT you'll come across on the stretch of I-85 in between Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem). If you're headed towards Charlotte from the Triad, it's the first QT you'll come across. Living in Atlanta the past 20 years, I've become a big fan of QT because their gas stations are typically big, thoughtfully laid out, brightly lit, relatively clean, and easy to navigate with plenty of pumps, parking spaces, and competitive fuel prices. Their convenience stores are also clean in addition to being well-stocked with hot-and-ready and made-to-order food and drink. The stores usually have plenty of adequately-trained and uniformed staff who are polite. In short, QTs beat your run-of-the-mill gas stations and convenience stores, many of which can be shoddy. Consider yourself lucky if you have them in your area. This QT on Lane Street is no exception. It's got 20 pumps for cars plus a separate fueling and parking area and store for semi-tractor-trailer trucks (not all QTs are truck stops like this one). I stopped by this QT on my way back to Atlanta from High Point to fill up and use the restroom. It was easy for me to find an open pump; it was clean, in good condition, and worked well; and the restroom was clean enough. If South Carolina is part of your route, then you should fill up at one of the many QTs along I-85 in South Carolina, if you can, because gas in South Carolina is cheaper. Check out my "Carolinas I-85 Corridor" collection on Yelp for a mostly comprehensive listing of QTs and other gas stations along I-85 in between Atlanta and the Triad here: https://www.yelp.com/collection/Ey266j_8lAHk7iQLDODC9g. Unlike regional truck stop competitors such as Love's Travel Stops and Pilot Travel Centers, QTs are not as big. They do not sell products other than refreshments (mainly) and they do not have interior seating nor fast food restaurant chains like Dairy Queen, McDonald's, and Wendy's attached. QTs do, however, have limited outdoor seating. This one has a handful of umbrella-covered tables outside the store.
