The portions! Fresh eggs, home made hash browns and bread...this place is heavenly! Husband enjoyed the Triangle Special and was unable to finish those fluffy, amazing pancakes...even with my help. On top of the delicious breakfast, we appreciated the friendly service. Hospitality's been lacking in several places we've stopped on vacation in the UP. If you love good ole home cooked food like hot turkey or beef sandwiches with homemade mashed potatoes, whitefish basket, grilled chicken dinners...you will love this restaurant. I had the whitefish and it was batter fried perfectly. This was a change for me because I normally get their hot turkey plate...tastes like Grandmas house the day after thanksgiving. After trying several not so good places throughout the week we finally found a spot with a great breakfast. The eggs were fresh farmed raised, the American potatoes were delicious and perfectly fried, the ham was pretty good and the sausage pattie was absolutely delicious. Not many places are going to stand out up there but this was a nice clean place with a fresh tasting home made style breakfast. I definitely would recommend the breakfast. read more

I guess, judging from reviews and pictures on their Facebook page I was expecting a little bit more than what I received. I ordered the two eggs over-easy with hash browns and ham. Simple dish, nothing extravagant or crazy. I got about four bites out of the ham due to how the fat was marbled and my knife could barely cut through the fat. The hash browns, along with the eggs, were not at all seasoned with salt or pepper or any kind of seasoning to give the food flavor. I'm not scared by some runny whites still left around the egg yolks when I break into it with the toast but in this case it was almost too much for me. I just kept adding salt and pepper and at least finished the eggs. read more

Stopped by for a late lunch / early supper. Always up for fish, I had the fresh White Fish fillet which included a side potato and green beans. I had my fish battered and deep fried - very good. My choice of potato was French fries - nothing special & the green beans were either canned or over cooked - very mushy. Dinner also came with the Salad bar which was excellent considering how small it was. Three soups to choose from, the usual lettuce, tomato, cheese and black olives. It also included macaroni salad, slaw and other salads and some kind of whipped cream & fruit dessert. Over all, it was a good experience and I will be returning. read more

We had breakfast Tuesday morning, one of our party ordered a sandwich and waitress didn't blink an eye. I think we could have ordered dinners at 8 am and we would have received them. My pancakes were the best I have ever tasted, light brown and crispy on the outside and tender and flakey on the inside, the eggs & bacon were perfect. A Michigan friend of mine, upon finding out we were traversing the UP, asked if we were going to try the food at "EAT." We couldn't find a webpage for a UP restaurant called "EAT," so we were left baffled, and said friend didn't remember the name. Luckily enough, I spotted the giant "EAT" sign on the roof as we passed by on the way to Grand Marais. After identifying the location on the map, we were able to track down the name, Triangle Restaurant. On our way back down to the bridge, we stopped by to try the food. I judge most of these casual diner type places by their mashed potatoes. If they serve instant potatoes, it's a thumbs down. I asked the server if theirs were homemade and was informed that indeed they were. SOLD! I ordered the hot turkey sandwich. It was hot, tasty and yes, the potatoes were homemade. The portion was generous without being over the top huge. Their coleslaw was also homemade, and I'm about as picky about my slaw as I am my potatoes. Another win. The price was reasonable as well (having come off Mackinac Island a few days before, my wallet was screeching a bit). We both got lemonades, and they offer different fruit flavors for those. I got cherry; my friend got raspberry. Thumbs up! Their breakfasts (as judged from an adjoining table) are plentiful, and the pancakes are large and thick. Our food did not take forever to come out as previous reviewers have said. It came out before either one of us got to squirming from hunger. We had entertaining neighbors at the next table anyway. Our server was personable and friendly. Yoopers are some fun folks. It must be those frigid winters. Next time we're on the way to Munising or points west, we're going to stop again. read more

My parents retired to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the early 1980s and this place is the closest restaurant to their house. Up until a few years ago when the second generation took it over, we never went there because of bad experiences. There is no better place for breakfast--the French toast is especially good and I can also recommend the blueberry pancakes. They serve a great, authentic UP pasty, with or without gravy. And on Friday evenings they have all you can eat whitefish--either pan fried, deep fried, or broiled with an orange sauce. Come hungry! Their general menu is quite good as well. And the staff are all extremely friendly and responsive. Absolutely the best for miles around. read more

Stopped in for dinner between Tahquamenon River Cruise on the way to Munising and Pictured Rocks. It is right on M-28 and specifically Recommended by Captain on the Hiawatha River Boat. Wow - were we disappointed. I had the soup and salad bar - iceberg lettuce was so bad (brown and only hard white pieces) that I returned it after putting on my plate. I managed to get a decent salad with other options and the soups were not bad. My husband ordered the pan seared perch- yuck! It was like three pieces of mush coated in flour and had no flavor at all. Tried to spice it up with lemon- not enough. Then tried tartar sauce but that was the only taste. Waitress asked if everything was ok and we told her fish was very bland. She apologized. She was also person cashing us out. Asked how was everything-repeated our complaint politely. She just shrugged but no accommodation was made. Very disappointing considering it was highly recommended. I would pass and find another place. read more

Yeah, four stars is a stretch, but it's a solid 3. The hot turkey was legit. Fresh homemade bread and real mashed potatoes. The turkey was just a tad salty, but overall a great hot turkey. The place doesn't look too special, but they try to do stuff that isn't straight out of the freezer and prepacked from a supplier. The homemade sweets looked good too, but we passed for whatever reason. Give it a shot and just ask what they got that is homemade. read more

I've eaten here 5 or 6 times because it is a couple miles from our cottage. The food is OK. The servers are friendly. The reason for 2 stars is the speed of service. The fastest we've received our breakfast is 45 minutes. That is from the time we placed our order. An hour and a half for basic breakfast is way too long. read more

We also enjoyed a group of regulars who were local UPers. They put on an "anti-tourist" show for our benefit, which actually was quite a treat. When I got to the restaurant there was a 20 minute wait, I thought it was no big deal due to the holiday weekend. Then we ordered and waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food. A large table behind us left because they had been waiting for their food. A waitress that wasn't my own came up to us and apologized for the table and said that it was their fault. I felt this was absolutely wrong. But, the only reason I give this restaurant two stars is because of my own waitress she was very nice and caring. read more
