This is a great little restaurant. We stopped on our way from Mackinaw City to Munising. They serve breakfast all day. I had the veggie scramble and it was delicious. My husband had a massive breakfast with two meats, eggs, potatoes, toast and a pancake. The toast is made with fresh baked bread and is delicious. The service was also excellent. Definitely give this place a shot if you're looking for food a little north of the bridge! read more

We met some friends here this morning. We all agreed we'd driven by this spot many times but hadn't stopped. We also agreed that had been a mistake. This is a hidden gem on US-2 just west of M117. There are a few booths, tables for four and tables for two. Very cozy. Great place for kids (one girl was coloring a page they gave her). The crowd as quite varied. Older couples, older friends, families, and bikers. And us. The menu has all the usual breakfast fare. Omelets with unique names and flavor. Breakfast specials. Full lunch menu too. Everything we four had was delicious. Great home-cooked dishes here for sure. Service is super-friendly. They work hard here as you'd expect. As such, we tipped well. Last week my husband and I stopped here on our UP road trip from Chicago suburbs. It was hands down the best food and best breakfast of our entire trip!! Eggs cooked perfectly, fresh crisp bacon, delicious rye bread, perfect hash browns and the homemade jam was the best!! Even the coffee didn't disappoint!! Don't judge a book by its cover...step inside and enjoy a fabulous breakfast. Only downside is that it's over 400 miles from Chicago burbs!! read more

The food at this restaurant is fabulous. Ethel and her granddaughter are great cooks. Be sure to stop when you are going by on Highway 2.

Beary Patch Restaurant - Green Chili Omelet OMG - Diners Near Me - Engadine, Michigan

I have driven by this unassuming diner for years, never once even stopping or considering it when thinking of grabbing a bite out. A lady I was taking to in Jennings mentioned how lucky we were to live so close to the Berry Patch and how great the food is, so I decided to try it for myself. We were not disappointed. I had the Popeye omelette, my daughter had the Berry Patch omelette. That was probably the best omelette either of us have ever had. It was stuffed full of items, large sized, and served with hash browns and homemade toast with strawberry jam. This is a keeper and probably a bi-weekly treat. I could kick myself for never trying this but always complaining that there wasn't anywhere to eat breakfast. read more

Small, yellow building that can be hard to find. On US2 , just West of 117. I was looking for a good place to take pictures of Lake Michigan. Stopped in and had one awesome breakfast and a great cup of coffee. Everything was as I ordered, even better!! Service was great as was the price - very reasonable. Not much in decor, but the walls were decorated with colorings of a bear by customers. I asked the waitress were I could get pictures and she directed me to the perfect place. Awesome little spot on the side of the road! The breakfast food was pretty sizeable proportion wise and was very reasonably priced. It was only $11 for a breakfast sandwich and a huge omelette. The service was also great. read more

Food was good. Two of us had breakfast, one a BLT and one a burger. Onion Ring was crunchy on the outside with the onion nice and tender. Pancake with breakfast was wonderful. Currently only open until 1:30 pm due to staffing. Really enjoyed the food. read more

The map for "The Beary Patch" isn't quite right- it shows it on 117, but it's actually on US-2, near the intersection with 117. Anyway... Small, family-owned diner, limited menu, decent service, reasonably-priced food. I was really hungry while driving through the UP, and I wanted to patronize a small, local business instead of a chain, so I stopped here for lunch. They have pretty standard diner food, plus fish fries with local fish and some nice homemade desserts. I had a grilled cheese sandwich - you can get white or wheat, American or Swiss- and some onion rings. The bread was pillowy and obviously not a standard store brand, and the onion rings tasted homemade and not food-service. They will serve raisin toast with breakfast all day, and that's obviously homemade. They had a beautiful loaf of it sitting on the check-out counter, for sale. A few cautions: Don't go there looking for dinner as they're only open for breakfast and lunch. And vegetarians will have limited options: grilled cheese, eggs and pancakes and possibly a side salad- all the dinner salads had meat in them. The two waitresses were swamped with customers on a sunny Saturday lunch hour, so it was a little slow and the waitress was defensive when I asked for a menu after having waited, unattended, for nearly 5 minutes. After that, things got better. If you're passing through, expect the locals to look you over, since this place seems to attract mostly regulars in a small town where everybody knows everybody else. Prices were just right- my lunch was just under $6 and filled me up nicely for my upcoming road trip. We had a once in a lifetime fishing trip with our family just before our youngest graduated high school. We had a late breakfast at the Beary patch on the last day of our vacation. The food was homemade, the servings were enormous, the coffee was great, the hospitality even better. They also sold their home made breads by the loaf and I'm telling you, they are delicious; I'm a bread baker myself so I appreciate when it's good. They aren't open for supper, but there are plenty of nearby dinner options. I will always make it a point to stop here for breakfast if I am in the UP! read more
