No kids menu and not many kid friendly options. Went at 1pm and couldn't get a whole section of the menu because it wasn't supper time. It doesn't say that on the menu so we had no idea. Breakfast and lunch only till supper time we were told after. No salads except a sad looking salad bar. A local warned us it wasn't great and was over priced but not a lot of options around. OMG!! We had the big breakfast special ...and BIG it was! I'm the pickiest and most critical person when it comes to food. It was the best breakfast I've ever had...really! The easy over eggs perfect, crispy hash brown's perfect, the BEST tasty sausage links perfect and the whole wheat toast with lots of real melted butter was thick and tasted like homemade. Cudo's to the "Chef". We are coming back as much as we can! The restaurant was spotless and neat. Our waitress was attentive, waited on us frequently and very pleasant. It's not Pickelmans anymore. It is M-28 Grill and Tavern. A very good, not great breakfast. Very friendly service from entry to exit. If you want something, just ask they will make it happen if they can. Not sure what Pickelman's was like , but the tavern was clean and neat; no clear theme detected. RUDE waitress!! Travelers stay AWAY if you don't want your day get ruined!! We went to this restaurant (it is called M-28 grill now) for brunch today. There was an inobvious sign at entrance saying "please seat yourself", so we want to double check if we can seat anywhere. When the waitress passed us I said "excuse me". She did see us but immediately turned back upand walked away, not giving me a chance for the question. Thought she was busy, we seated ourselves anyway and waited. She never got to us. About 10 minutes later we saw another group coming in, and the waitress immediately gave them the menu and asked them what to drink. So when she passed us my friend asked if we can have the menu too, and she answered VERY RUDELY "you have to wait for your turn!!". But why another group arrived later then us already had drinks?? We were shocked and went to another restaurant. I have no idea why we were treated like this. Maybe it is a small town and she doesn't like travelers, or maybe she is RACIST. We are traveling around Michigan and before this waitress, the people we met here are very nice and friendly, so I am taking her as an exception. read more

If you drive through here at night, it can be a scary experience! Newberry in the northernmost section of Michigan, just between lakes Michigan and Superior, billed itself as "Michigan's Moose Capital". It shows as you'll have a hard time finding a truck without a large "moose bumper" in front. This place is a nice one to stop, rest a bit with a home style meal. In the morning, you can have a nice breakfast before you take back the road towards Wisconsin or Minnesota to the west or Canada to the east. read more

First time to this place and after 15 min we finally got a glass of water and a menu. After another 15 min without being able to order we walked out. Very bad service and after seeing the cook I'm glad we walked out. I highly recommend not eating at this place. read more

We stopped to eat and I was just starving!!! I should have stuck with something easy like breakfast although tuna melts are pretty simple.... my cheese wasn't melted and the tuna was loaded with sweet relish YUCK!!! We stopped in around 4:30 pm and found a smiling young woman who told us to sit wherever we wanted. My wife had a 'smothered chicken sandwich', which she said was very good. I had the 'cod dinner' and was delighted with it. Food was fresh, tasty and plenty. Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient. read more

Terrible food, slow service and a long wait for food that was mediocre at best. The waitress wasn't friendly. We waited over 30 minutes for a wrap and a grilled sandwich. There was no indication that the wait for food would be greater than 30 minutes. We stopped because we were hungry and the parking lot was busy. Little did we know, the parking lot was busy because people were waiting more than 30 minutes for food. Seriously though, there was a pull curtain on the toilet stall, no door. It was so weird and there was no way to close it entirely. So bizaare. read more

Arrived at 8:30, yes they do close at 9:30 so we figured an hour is enough to have a dinner. Had to wait till 9:20 to get our appetizers to get started. Looked like they forgot that we were there till they saw us looking around getting ready to leave so they poured us our soups. Once the food arrived, it was the worst I've ever had. Mashed potatoes were made from powder and steak was so bad it felt like I was eating soles from the work boots, it was so rubbery. White fish was all dry and tasteless. Nothing fancy. Just reasonably priced good food and good service. We stopped in for dinner about an hour before close on Saturday night. We were a group of 7 with 2 kids. Nachos, burgers, cod dinners and kid's chicken tenders were ordered and we were all satisfied with what we ordered. We decided to go back the next morning for breakfast before heading out of town. We happened upon this place while going thru Newberry. It's not fancy, but the food and service were superb. I had a Mexican omelette- it was huge and delicious. My boyfriend had a ham sandwich and the soup. Both rated raves from him and he's picky. Our waitress was a lovely lady who couldn't have been sweeter and more attentive. read more

We went here on 8/1/19 we sat down and probably waited 2 minutes 2 get a menu and order are drinks my grandpa ordered a decaf coffee and he never got his coffee he asked 3 times for his coffee and never got it. The waitress came over and laughed and said you know what's funny i put the coffee on and didn't put it under the pot so it all spilled on the floor. It took them 15 to 20 minutes after we got are drinks for them to even come and ask if we were ready to order the table next to us had to adress to the guy taking the salad. bar that we haven't even ordered yet. My grandma wanted something from the salad bar and he counites taking it down after she said something and never let her order from the salad bar. So we finnaly get to order are food and it comes out about 15 minutes later. My grandpa ordered a hot pork sandwich and the pork and gravy were cold the bread was hard. I orded a junction buger with jalapeno on it my buger was pink in the middle and i told them i wanted it done. I had to get up to go get ketchup and mustard because they never asked if we wanted it and right after they set the food down right away she left. The table next to us was there well before we even walked in the door and placed there orders before we got there the lady never put theres in and they didn't get there food till we were almost done with ours and were leaving. The guy had to get up and go get his own forks for the salad bar. He had little kids with him and the little girl wanted more salad and couldn't get it cause the guy was taking the salad bar down.
