I felt like a kid in the candy shop! I spoke with Daniele and she assisted me immediately with selecting several frames. I had a certain look and she helped me bring that dream to life! As a therapist, I had to get the "look" and I feel that was achieved. So, what's so special about this place is, they are family owned and they actually cut their own lenses...so what they means is, instead of waiting 2-3 weeks to get your frames, you can have them in about 2 days. I would have had them in 1 day but I was late to waking up and they close at 5pm. Otherwise, they are the quickest office I've ever been to and literally THE best! I paid out of pocket but it was the best because there aren't a lot of special places like this one. So I have to give credit where it is due! The frames, along with high-index lenses, non-reflective coating, and 3 day turn-around were only $190! Everywhere else in Asheville charges $80 and more for the non-reflective coating, and Rhonda HALFED that. The optometrist insists the glasses are correct for my vision and that there's something wrong with my physical or mental health. The owner says she's never given a refund in 34 years and isn't going to now. It isn't true that they make the glasses on site. They contract the work from a lab that they say gives them one chance to make corrections.

Wow, I guess I'll research closer to home. The only reason I visited this mill of an office was that a friend used them once and had a good experience. Perhaps with the doctor who has excellent credentials, but he should think about changing some of his staff. I've been in the medical field for 35 years and never experienced such arrogance.

My son's glasses were destroyed in a horrible accident, and after everything he had already endured, including plastic surgery, I was overwhelmed trying to get him ready to start school. We first visited Stanton Optical, where I was told his prescription had changed dramatically and that something could be seriously wrong with his eyes. Terrified, I paid an additional $80 for an OCT scan, which thankfully came back normal. The appointment took nearly two hours, and I left feeling scared, confused and without clear answers. When we arrived at Eyemart Express on Saturday, we had only one hour before closing. I was emotionally exhausted and felt close to breaking down. Then we met frank and Jody. They were kind, patient and genuinely understanding. Jody took the time to review the paperwork from Stanton Optical and quickly realized that my son's prescription had not changed nearly as dramatically as I had been led to believe. She explained everything clearly, answered my questions and gave me the peace of mind I desperately needed. She also went above and beyond financially. Since I haven't been working while caring for my son, I was worried about the cost. His lenses are very thick, but jody helped us get thinner lenses, gave me a coupon and then told me his glasses were FREE. I was overwhelmed by their generosity. They treated us with kindness and dignity, never making me feel like a burden. Even though we arrived just an hour before closing, they finished his glasses the SAME DAY. Jody and Frank may have thought they were simply doing their jobs, but to us, they did so much more. I was greeted by Joel (been there for 10 yrs- a good sign) and I asked if he could realign my Oakley eyeglass frames which he did. I use this method to determine the quality of customer service. He impressed me so much that I went to the front counter where Melodie scheduled my eye appointment. At my eye exam appointment Christine (been there for 15 yrs-another good sign) completed the intake process with outstanding service. Dr. Kilgo was extremely through with my exam explaining everything and also impressed me with her professional expertise.

So my partner & I arrived early for our appointments. My boyfriend has been going there for years... anyways first off the place is packed!!! The check in girl finally came to the check in counter after several minutes. Immediately says that they were an hour to hour and half behind because they "had been punched in the face all day" umm ok??? We had an appointment. AND a VERY important event planned for 2 hours after our scheduled appointment. We walked around for about an hour looking at frames waiting... only one person was sitting in the "waiting room" side... anyways I got my eye exam. I agreed to pay extra for a more comprehensive exam. The girl who came to get me wasn't very helpful or knowledgeable and she spoke so low that I couldn't even hear her hardly. I was seated in the outside of the eye exam rooms... yes there's two different kinds. I literally had a supposed eye doctor on a screen that I couldn't hardly hear. The girl who came to do the first part of the exam actually said we're not real eye doctors but we don't have to dilate your eyes and we're cheap so people keep coming back to us... ugh. Great! Long story but I really hope my exam was right, prescriptions were right! The guy who checked me and my boyfriend out was beyond more helpful than anyone else I personally encountered there and I love how committed he was to help me figure things out! I think the woman knew exactly what she was doing, trying to scare me into getting it, knowing I have already dealt with so much I was super irritated when I actually found out that she read his old prescription wrong. I walked in without an appointment, and was able to walk out less than 2 hours later with a new prescription, a new pair of glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses for under $500. The staff at the vision center and the attached Lenscrafters were very efficient and friendly. All of the equipment was very modern which made the whole process fast and painless. i was very satisfied overall. Probably a bit more expensive than going to Walmart, but well worth the extra!
