I got my tattoo on Monday courtesy of Bris and I couldn't be happier with the tattoo and the experience. I originally called the shop and spoke with Jose who was super helpful. My schedule isn't the most open so he passed my info onto Bris who contacted me right away, which was a Friday. She was able to schedule an appointment with me in 3 days for Monday(appointment only, shop is closed that day). We both discussed what I'd like the tattoo to look like and the location. I'm so pumped on the tattoo, especially with the sentimental value to me. The experience was fantastic, super chill and comfortable. Time flies. It really does. I attempted to get a memorial tattoo last year for my sister, on the anniversary of her passing but the artist canceled on me same day (not here, another place). I had a whole year to find an artist and time just passed too quickly. So, there I was over this past weekend, sending inquiries via yelp to as many shops as I could, to see if any shops were open after I got off work and if anyone could do it ON this very significant date. That's how I found this place. They were very responsive and set me up with an artist with availability. I of course checked his work before booking. Donnie did this beautiful tattoo for my sister, with a single needle method. It took less than 2 hours. I loved his attention to detail, as this came out better than I expected. I have sort of a low pain tolerance and usually numb myself, but amazon delivered after i left. I didn't need numbing anyway. It didn't hurt! Thank you Tribal Root! After I had a last minute cancellation by an artist in another shop, about 30 minutes before my appointment, I decided to pop in here and see if I could do a walk-in. Best decision ever. Super nice shop, very open, and you can tell all the artists care a great deal about their work. Great vibes from the other artists too! I ended up getting tattooed by Cassie, who not only is an amazing tattoo artist, but a genuinely great person. She was as enthusiastic about my choice in tattoo as I was, and I fully plan on getting more done by her in the future. His work is amazing, communication with him is easy and quick, and he's a nice guy, easy to chat with while getting tattooed. This place is overly amazing. Reviews are very important to me when it comes to a new place, especially a tattoo shop. Tribal Roots Tattoos has incredible custom service, a clean shop, vibing hip-hop music, and a DRAMA-FREE environment. I was looking for a good tattoo shop while in Escondido before I head back home for Alaska. I stumbled upon this one via Yelp. Although it had a few reviews on it, the main thing that stood out for me to reach out to them was someone saying through another review that the artist who was inking them was personable and created a relaxing and enjoyable experience for the customer. In addition, Donny (the owner of the shop) reached out to me via email within 5 minutes of sending them a message. They are on top of their game! When I got to the shop, Donny and the other tattoo artists were welcoming and had a great vibe to all of them. Donny makes sure that you get what you want out of your tattoo. He will take the time to make all of the changes that you want to it, no matter how particular you are. He is very patient. Donny also makes sure that he explains everything he does concerning the tattoo style before you choose what you want to do. For example, why not to do something and give his recommendations for what would look best. The conversations that we had made the 6 hours I was sitting in a chair feel like two hours! That is how relatable and personable Donny is. Definitely a start to a successful shop in Escondido. If I could give them more stars I would. I will be going back there again to finish the rest of my tattoo. Looking forward to seeing them again. Lastly, while talking to Donny, we got on the topic of cover-up tattoos. He began saying how he does not want to merely cover-up a tattoo if it is going to look like crap afterwards. He will turn away people, if he feels like there is really no way to make it look good. Got in contact with the owner to do a tattoo. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but I had a specific face I wanted, he had creative freedom with the rest of the artwork. I went in, we agreed on a plan, and he said he'd send me some designs. He sent me 3 pieces that were nothing like what we had discussed. After I politely told him while the art he sent me was great, it wasn't what I wanted and I'd prefer if we stick to keeping the face I requested. He said he'd work on it and has not contacted me since. Not only was it a waste of my time, it was extremely unprofessional. A simple "I think there was a miscommunication in what you wanted" or "I think this piece is better suited for someone else" would've sufficed. I haven't had a tattoo in a century, I met with Donny, with an idea of what I wanted, he set a appointment for me and when I arrived he came up with a much better design, he is truly an artist, very humble and professional. The suite they are in is very nice with lots of art on the walls , all of the tattoo artist are very social, with great Great conversation ,They are all professionals.
