Then I called and they said they were checking on my claim and that it would not help if I called Blue Cross directly and it would just slow down their response. The professionalism of this placed vanished. I never heard back. I called again and they said that Blue Cross would not pay since they follow Medicare which they acknowledge that they do not accept, However they never indicated that Blue Cross could not pay without Medicare, This practice is not for anyone on Medicare or above 60 because you will be forced to leave unless you can pay cash. When I went they also said that a portion of my first visit would be covered by Delta Dental. No it was not. They sent a bill without any explanation as to what it was for. Upon calling they said it was because Delta Dental would not cover it. It seems like they are ashamed to admit their errors and will just ignore their patients. In the context of being a practice for a select few they should be avoided at all cost. Their doctors may be good but they have poor to non existent communication skills. I wasted two months waiting for a response.. I only got one because I called. I still do not know the status of the cyst I had to have biopsied. This could be a catastrophic mistake.. WE refused to do the 3D x-ray. When pressed, she said she could do the 3D x-ray after doing a root canal - if I wanted it. [Why do the test to see if root canal is feasible AFTER the root canal?] Instead, she duplicated the through-the-cheek x-ray that the dentist had done a few days earlier. [Supposedly, ADA recommendations on lead shielding have been relaxed because, among other things, with digital x-rays, there's no need for duplicates. WE doesn't use lead shields AND does unnecessary x-rays.] Then, WE did the same exam that the dentist had done - though following an inflexible procedure: Positioned my arm on my leg and said to raise it if I felt pain. Tapped on a different tooth. I looked at her and said, "Of course it doesn't hurt; you're tapping on the wrong tooth." She started over again, placing my arm on my leg... I glared at her as she tapped on the wrong tooth again. Eventually, she tapped on the tooth that I had gone to her for, and I raised my hand. Sprayed something like liquid nitrogen on the tooth to determine temperature sensitivity. Then declared "The roots are dead; I'll do a root canal.". [Never checked the roots themselves.] Charged $355 to do what the dentist had already done (for less money).... I found another endodondist who did the 3D x-ray. I suspect my dentist referred me because WE is owned by the same chain that bought my dentist's practice. I'll start looking for another dentist, now. The stupidity continues. I got a phone call from them about the above review. They claimed that they were trying to save me money by not doing the 3D x-ray. Then, why did she offer to do it AFTER the root canal? Then, the 3D x-ray would have been a complete waste. She also said that the through-the-cheek x-ray wasn't good enough. [Why not mention that?] I brought up the fact that, in the waiting area, I was notified that they were running late 35 minutes after my appointment time. I tried to explain that the time to tell a patient that you're running late is at or before the time at which they are late. She tried to justify giving notification after it's become obvious. They just don't get it. I just hung up.

Because she stands to not make anymore money on my visit Dr Stern choses to leave me in severe pain. All I asked for was an antibiotic.

I was going to the Gentle Dental office at the Trolley Yard in Worcester, and went to the larger office on Shrewsbury Street for an implant and crown. Both offices were great, and the doctors, assistants, and staff at Shrewsbury Street are all excellent. I hesitated a bit before going to a large office with a number of dentists, because individual attention, personality, and care, are all so important when you're getting your mouth dealt with, but I needn't have. Dr Klimashov (Dr K) did the first half or so of my root canal procedures, and Dr Arora-Mohan did the rest, including fitting and mounting the post and crown (about 2 years in total). Both doctors were extremely nice, explained everything fully, and worked skilfully and quickly. I was thrilled to find out today that Dr Arora will be my primary dentist there: she is kind, empathetic, and never rushes but gets the job done quick. Dina, who works as an assistant, is equally smart and nice, puts all patients at their ease, and works as a brilliant team with Dr. A. Melanie and the other front desk staff are unfailingly efficient and cheerful, and the equipment in the office is all state-of-the-art and accurate. I got my crown today, and I have already almost forgotten that it's not my real human tooth! Thanks to everyone.

He put bone dust in the area for healing, and after new bone growth had occurred, had installed a new implant post. Throughout it all, Dr. Rafla had a high degree of professionalism and empathy. He made this difficult transition not only possible, but much more comfortable than expected. I see some people have complained about the billing people, and I had similar problems with the old office staff. Dr. Rafla left that office perhaps 8 months ago, and much of his staff have followed him. The new office has different billing practices and I am comfortable with them. I would come back to see Dr. Rafla at any time. He is the best.
