Did two mortgages with them (initial purchase then a refi). The initial purchase was fine - nothing notable, rate was market. I put in for a refi with a few companies and my salesperson reached out to me proactively to sell me on their rates. Promised a low rate (which, after some reasearch, was par with market at best), then went completely MIA. His team had whoopsie after whoopsie including FORGETTING EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION until late on the Friday before we were set to close. They went completely dark for over a month - I reached out to find out what was what and got a snippy reply with "unprecedented demand" something something. No kidding dude, that's why EVERYONE is refinancing. Don't know why you reached out if you couldn't service it. Took a solid 4 months to close and have been completely MIA since. I'm fairly sure they forgot to renew their contract with their email provider, as everyone's email (including customer service) have been down sicne new years, and nobody is answering the phone. They got the mortgage done, but probably cost me about $4k relative to going with a more known provider. read more

I learned today that Trident Mortgage failed to secure financing for us. This is after nearly 120 days since starting work with them. It is now evident that we put far too much trust in Trident. Their abject failure to proactively communicate with us has now cost us our originally guaranteed rate lock and significantly increased our borrowing costs. As a result, we will have more than $30,000 in additional borrowing costs over the course of our 30 year mortgage. read more

I only wish I knew where to begin. My mortgage refinance with this company took nearly 5 months (about 150 days) to close. For the sake of discourse, I was very responsive to requests for documentation, my credit score is north of 830, I have a very low debt to income ratio, and on top of all this, I work in the banking industry; so I get the entire process and have very realistic expectations when it comes to these matters. To put it lightly, this company is a complete joke and missed the mark on every operational category. My mortgage representative was nice enough and fairly helpful, but that is where the positives stop. I was asked for the same documentation multiple times and I am not going to harp on that because I know they have their requirements, but the entire process was incredibly inefficient and had it not been for my incessant nagging, I would probably still be waiting to close on this loan. My processor was non-responsive and the service was poor. You cannot get a hold of anyone in their office. The only extension where you can reach anyone is the sales department (go figure!). Honestly, my refinance from up to closing was the worst experience that I have had with a company in my life up until this point.. and then after we finally closed on the refinance it got 100x worse. Trident does not service their own loans. The way it works is that you make the first couple of payments to trident while it is processed and sent off to another servicing company (CMC Funding). My wife made our Feb 1, and March 1 payments to Trident and after not hearing anything about the pending transfer, made the April payment on March 31. Sometime around Apr 10 we receive a letter in the mail (dated Apr 7) that essentially reads, [your mortgage is being transferred to CMC funding effective Apr 1, do not make any payments to Trident and make your April payment to CMC instead]. So, wait, what?? You send a letter DATED Apr 7 about the transfer of my loan and tell me that the April 1 payment should be made to another company? What is going on here and why on earth would they not have expected me to make that payment on time? How was I supposed to know to make my April payment to another company if you don't even SEND me the notification letter until April 7?? So one would think that my new loan servicer, CMC, would work closely enough with Trident to figure this out. One would think that Trident would see the payment come in for a transferred loan and simply send it to CMC, or, since my payment was made electronically on March 31, apply it to the loan before sending it to CMC. You would think they would do one of these and, no harm, no foul. All's well that ends well, right? Wrong. In the last 2 weeks, I have received an unexaggerated 20 calls or voicemails from CMC "attempting to collect a debt." Now, CMC has been about as annoying and unprofessional as it gets, but let me be clear that my gripe is not with them - it is with Trident. CMC apparently has to call me at least every day until the "debt", which I already paid to Trident, is fulfilled. They understand the circumstance and have also tried to work with Trident to get this resolved, and to everyone's surprise, Trident has been completely unresponsive. You still can't get a hold of anyone when you call Trident unless you're looking for sales. I could easily just make the April payment AGAIN to CMC funding, but I don't trust Trident and don't know what is going to happen to the payment that I already made. Imagine getting a call or voicemail from a company EVERY SINGLE DAY and some days, twice a day, asking to collect a debt that you have already paid. Trident has zero focus on service or operations. I understand that it looks like that sales drives revenue on paper, but take it from someone who has referred 5 people to "anyone other than Trident Mortgage" in the last few months and tell me that a small focus on service wouldn't benefit them? I am still dealing with this and am close to the point of getting the law involved. I am worried that this situation will ultimately impact my credit. I was told by CMC that I have a 60-day grace period when a loan is transferred and wouldn't suffer any consequences for 60 days, but it has been 4 weeks now since I made the payment to Trident and still have heard nothing, still cannot reach their office, and am still getting calls from CMC making me feel like a some sort of delinquent. I'm sure this company will attempt to hide behind the pandemic as an excuse, but the reality is that it is just poorly managed. I understand that there are exceptions and outliers and irrational customers out there. I honestly do not believe that I am any of those three and based on my experience every step of the way, I can't imagine that anyone could be satisfied using this company. I don't know how it is still in operation after my experience. Please stay far away from this company. read more

They did my mortgage, Mike Lee. I was promised that I locked in at 4 1/8% fixed for 15 years but after mortgages shoot up to 5%, they said I wasn't qualified on the debt to income. But offered me a 7 year @ 4 1/8% fixed, with 8 years variable. Lying CHEATS!!! read more

Wished we read the reviews before agreeing to use Trident. This is my third time going through the buying-selling process of buying and selling a home. Never have we been put through so much hell and stupid hoops to jump through. They lost our documents constantly and even from the beginning we sent them everything they would need. They came back and told us, "that's too much stuff." We said, "Well, we know you're going to ask for it eventually so here it is..." And what do you know, they did ask for it (like I said, we've done this before). But apparently, its too much for them to go through the paperwork and find what they needed. We couldn't count on just one hand how many times they asked for something, we sent it and then a week later they'd ask again. I'm sorry, but how do you not have a better system in place for recordkeeping? You're not competent enough to search through your emails? They asked for the most ludacris paperwork, no explanation on how to retrieve said-paperwork and when we called to ask, an actual 3-year-old picked up the phone. Please please please just look around before committing to Trident! read more

Refinanced a mortgage and they physically did that so that is where they get 2 stars. I've been through 3 mortgages before so I know how the process works at other companies. While I didn't need hand holding, I just felt that things seemed chaotic here. Questions were not answered, we were given conflicting information, we were told to do one thing but then asked to do it again and/or told that we didn't need to do it at all. We had a closing date scheduled only to find out it wasn't really scheduled. We worked with a revolving door of people but still struggled to get answers to our questions. I just felt considering we were a fairly easy loan customer with no changes throughout the process and no rushed timeline, it felt very chaotic on their end. Today, 3 months after closing, we got an email asking us to sign a document they forgot to have us sign, even though I am pretty sure I remember seeing it. It inspired me to write this review. Trident is awful. Their customer service is almost nonexistent. They do not answer their phone, they do not return voicemails, and you have to email them multiple times in order to get them to reply. I would never recommend them to anyone and I regret using them. read more

We have taken out at least 20+ mortgages over the course of 40 years. We have had the run around by Quicken and other mortgage companies but our dealings with Trident have been the WORSE experience we have ever encountered with a mortgage broker. We would send required information in and ask if they had everything and they would reply yes then 10 days later ask for additional information or information they already had. They kept sending us documents with the wrong social security number for my wife and said not to worry just sign the paperwork and they would correct it later. They never did until she needed to sign into a secure site and couldn't because they never corrected her SSN. We initially wanted to go with a VA loan for a condo in South Carolina. I asked if they could provide a mortgage for a residence in that state and they said yes. Then they kept asking for some Declaration page on the condo. This is a document NOT required in the state of South Carolina. Trident kept saying that they MUST have that document or they couldn't get a VA loan for us. (Trident is located in Florida). Our South Carolina lawyers (2 of them) and several South Carolina realtors (3) told us that particular document being requested does not exist (by law) in South Carolina. Trident kept on insisting that is has to exist or we couldn't get a VA loan. I told them based on what Trident was saying the NO ONE was eligible for a VA loan in the state of South Carolina. Really?!?! Two and a half weeks before closing they said they had to switch us to a convential mortgage as their VA lawyer (also in Florida) refused to OK a VA loan. I questioned if they would be able to make the closing date and they said since they would using the same underwriters, who already had 90% of the information they required it wouldn't be a problem. The day before we were suppose to close the sent us a whole new packet to fill out and return. When I inquired why we were getting documents requesting information they already had they stated that the underwriters were requiring it. We (obviously) missed our closing date (Wednesday). We were then told all they needed is one more document from the HOA to be able to close. We sent them the document on Thursday. On Friday (the day before the 4th of July weekend) we were told they were going to work late until they finished their review. Long story made short we didn't close until the followning Thursday. The organization is clueless, lacks integrity, and has zero knowledge of real estate and mortgage laws outside of Florida. read more

My son and I closed on a mortgage with Trident this past July, 2019 on a second residence. Not only was the process arduous, but two days before closing, Trident made a significant change to the agreement. They left us between a rock and a hard place. We almost scuttled the deal at closing. They blamed the lender, TruMark Credit Union for the last minute change, and said it was due to unusual circumstances. Trident Mortgage was amazing. Honestly, they where the best part of buying our house. Everyone caused serious stress and didn't deliver except for Laura Corley and her team from Trident! If I had a question, she answered it immediately. If I was not at ease about something, they were there to explain everything in detail. This was not my first mortgage. I secured a mortgage in another home through BOA and it was a nightmare. The bank would ask for the same paper work over and over again. Plus the waiting period was extremely long and painful, I was left in the dark with BOA. Trident never did that. They were spot on. I highly recommend Laura Corley and her team. I am in sales so my expectations are high and Trident WOW'd myself and husband. Laura is a true gem in her profession and the same with her team member, Austin Kaut, Yarvi Cohen and Marcia Anderson. Refinancing a mortgage is typically a complex and daunting process but with rates currently so low, it seemed to be a good time to do it again. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience with Trident Mortgage and the great folks there. Jeremy and his staff worked with me every step of the way and made it relatively easy. They were very responsive and would immediately answer any questions. I can't think of how they could have been more accommodating and helpful. The consistent hard work and competence of everyone I dealt with at Trident Mortgage was the primary reason why I own a beautiful home today! I am not great at keeping with deadlines, but Jeremy and Angel were relentless in their efforts to make sure that EVERYTHING went smoothly in closing on my house on time. In addition, the rate I received was competitive, and they do match rates with other companies. I was extremely pleased with my experience, and was glad to have a local company, with their extensive knowledge of the Philadelphia market specifically, to help me make such a large and potentially confusing and intimidating purchase. First of all, I will say that the sales team (Sean Logue, Ryan McGarvey, Jeremy Durkin) were very courteous and accommodating, and I have no complaints against them. The preapproval process went smoothly. Once we moved into the underwriting process, I received redundant requests for letters of explanation from different departments, and a last minute rejection of a gift Trident had been aware of for at least two weeks prior to closing. I can't figure out whether this treatment came from incompetence or something more sinister. I definitely won't go with them next time. I was sort of forced to work with them in order to participate in a homebuying program through my employer, and I resent the limited choices. read more
