Ginger Paloma + hibiscus lemon drop
    Becky P.

Super friendly service, the food was very affordable, good, and filling. We got the tofu banh mi sandwich, a large salad, and fries. I loved how they did their tofu. For it being a little dive bar, it definitely exceeded expectations. There were not a ton of affordable veg options in town, so we were really happy to find this place. The drinks were some of the best I've had- my husband loved the ginger paloma and I got the hibiscus lemon drop. Went back for lunch again the next day before we headed out of town!

A pano of the entry and the bar. Great place for lunch.

We recently visited Trillium Tavern, which looks to have taken over the former Trillium Café. The ownership change seems recent, and with it came a new name and a much more limited menu. We ordered a few things to try: my wife had the Cobb salad, which she enjoyed, though she mentioned the blue cheese was a bit salty. The salad came with crispy chicken. My daughter liked the classic hotdog, and I had the chicken strip basket. The strips were good, and the shoestring fries were cooked well. Service was great--friendly and attentive. There were some board and card games available, which added a casual, relaxed vibe. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not bad, just different. We'll be interested to see how things develop as the new ownership settles in.

If you're looking for a place to stop with great drinks & eats with fantastic service- this is your place! The outdoor seating is great. We were able to have a nice little lunch with our doggo & they even allowed us to order a little doggy burger. Service really is a 10/10.

Super friendly service. Nice rustic inside ambience. The Beer cheese soup is good flavorful. Fish and chips were good with a tangy tartar sauce. My husband had the roast beef sandwich, which was good as well. Everything was hot and freshly made french fries look like they were hand cut and I really appreciated the side of mixed greens with my fish and chips with a nice tangy dressing.

Trillium Café in Hood River, Oregon is a little hole in the wall that has a cult-like following for their hamburgers. It is a local hangout that serves a small menu of bar food made up of appetizers, hamburgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and a few specials. It's also one of the few restaurants in Hood River that is open late at night, which is how I came to visit it. I arrived in Hood River late at night, and was looking for a bite to eat before I went to my hotel. I had walked by Trillium Café many times over the years, but never visited because the menu looked like a lot of other restaurant menus, and I'm always on the lookout for something new. Even though I arrived shortly before the kitchen closed, I was greeted warmly and provided excellent service. My go-to when ordering a burger, is a classic Cheeseburger. I ordered The Standard - 1/2 pounder with lettuce, tomato, pickles, served on grilled bun, and added a slice of cheese. All burgers are made with Cascade Natural 100% Angus Beef. Burgers are served with your choice of hand cut fries, tater tots, or garden salad. I got the hand cut fries. Wowza! Trillium Café makes an EXCELLENT Cheeseburger with Fries! First, I love that they know the importance of grilling/toasting the bun. The hamburger meat was fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Tillamook cheddar cheese was nicely melted on top of my burger. The lettuce, tomato, and pickles were served off to the side so I could dress my burger as I liked. The fresh cut fries were excellent! It was one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had in or anywhere near Hood River. I've heard excellent things about their Fish & Chips, which is one of their three specialties, along with Meatloaf and Mac & Cheese. If you're looking for a casual dining option, with a small but excellent menu, check out Trillium Café the next time you're in Hood River. Highly Recommended!!!

We stopped just for a snack, but it turned into us having lunch. It's been fun letting bartenders make our drinks based on what we like when we know there is a full bar. The Mac and Cheese was listed as a Specialty on the menu, so I was ready to be impressed. Let me tell you. OMG. This was freaking amazing. It wasn't full of extras, just the best ingredients. As much as I wanted to just sit and shovel it in my mouth, I made myself eat it very slow so I could enjoy and remember it forever. My lunch companion's meals were described as good and tasty. The fresh cut fries were really, really good. Establishment was clean, the service was friendly and prompt.

A quirky local spot for drinks and tasty bar food. It has a full bar and an nice selection of goodies to eat if you're hungry. We stopped in for lunch. The ingredients were fresh, plentiful and toasty. We shared a delicious turkey meister sandwich and tater tots. Our server was friendly and attentive to our soft drinks stayed full! The locals at the bar added to the atmosphere. They have a cool mural that reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are...for a quick afternoon lunch we thought it was great!

Their burger with bacon tomato jam was a 10/10! So much flavor and the bun was fresh and lightly buttered and toasted (this really takes it up a notch!). The meat was very tender and lots of flavor (tasted high quality). It's served with a heaping order of fries (or you can upcharge it for $2 and do salad, soup or sweet potato fries). Their chicken wings were tender and came off the bones easily while still having crispy edges. Perfection. Split the St. Helens Burger, an order of fries, and a side salad with the recommended goat cheese (trust them--it was the right call). The burger was everything you want it to be. A fresh poppy seed bun, a perfectly cooked patty, sweet caramelized onions... and then came the poblano pepper. That little bit of smoky heat tied the whole thing together. Now let's talk about the fries because they deserve their own paragraph. These are, without question, my favorite fries. They arrived hot, crispy, perfectly golden, and had that satisfying crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one. If you're a fry person, these alone are worth the visit. The side salad was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy goat cheese took it from "just a side salad" to something I'd happily order again. It was the perfect balance to all those delicious fries. If you're looking for a place that consistently delivers great food in a welcoming atmosphere, Kickstand Coffee should absolutely be on your list. We've yet to have a bad meal here, and it's one of those places we recommend without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone who asks where to eat. I now wish I didn't let my husband eat more of the fries. Gotta head back up there soon! Service was great and love that the girl at the counter asked me if I was doing anything fun today - extra friendliness goes a long way!

But the service is beyond slow. 20 minutes in another part our group asked if the food was ready and was told it would take 30 minutes. After the half hour long wait was up we inquired again and asked that the food be changed to go because we did not have the entree afternoon to wait. When we finally got the food it was not made to go. I asked for that again since we'd be waiting like 45 minutes to which the employee corrected me saying it had "only been 40 minutes"and the employee declined, gave us two cartons so that we could do that ourselves. With just a few minutes before our ride arrived we return to our table to eat. I soon learned why the food took so long. Well done doesn't describe the burger patties. Both we so over cooked and burnt the they were crunchy with the overwhelming taste of charcoal from being so burnt. The French fries that came with it were also awful. The taste was that of fries that were quite likely older than the order we placed. So the Ferment Brewing Company wins the trifecta. Slow service, Ruid employees, and awful food. I trust that the great community of Hood River has some good places to eat but regrettably FMC is absolutely not one of them.
