Loud, noisy bar. Great 80s 90s music. Friendly waiter/bartender. Asked his recommendations and we ordered one of each. My meatloaf was delicious, tender, juicy with mild slice and a great cheese and red pepper sauce. Fresh broccoli side. My wife's french dip was also delicious and tender. Yes it's Pub food, well kinda sorta Pub food. I ate the best turkey and bacon sandwich imaginable. I guess you could say its Pub food with a serious attitude improvment; even the side salad dressing was five star! While I was there I heard one woman rave about her fish and chips, saying, "I never eat tarter sauce but I love this" and "the fish is perfect". Just before leaving a man came in and said "I'll have the same thing I had last time" a turkey rubin. You get a big portions and may want to share.... New owners as of March end. We happened upon Trillium Cafe on a recent trip to the Columbia river gorge and area. The food was good and it was a casual and original place. The mac n cheese w/ the broccoli was so savory with depth of cheesy flavor. the hummus appetizer, also, so good! And the fish and chips were fresh and flavorful. This little "hole in the wall" is fantastic. I had one of the best sandwiches I have ever had with turkey, bacon, cheese and ymminess. Husband had the sliders (he said they were the best ones he has ever had,) apparently slider's are often dry and over cooked, Trillium's were not. They were moist and cooked perfectly. read more

I assumed it would be a dive bar with good burgers. My husband insisted we go but I was wary of bringing my 2 young kids. I was pleasantly surprised. At 6:30 pm, it was incredibly kid-friendly. It was clean and roomy. The booths were comfortable. They provided a highchair and a kids menu with crayons. They had a whole cabinet filled with board games, children toys, and coloring books. Don't let your first impression of Trillium stop you from sitting down and enjoying a fantastic burger. We went to the Maryhill Museum and had a late afternoon meal at Trillium. We each ordered the half pound burger. I had mine on ciabatta roll that had been slathered with butter and lightly browned. I skipped the tomato, onion and pickles. (I'm a purist.) It came with a side of mixed greens with the house dressing. The salad was the perfect refreshing complement to the beefy terrific burger. I ate the whole thing and I weight 98 lbs! Oh, the glass of red wine went nicely, too. The husband's burger came with fries and he cleaned his plate, too, but thought my combo was better. The service was prompt and friendly. Driving along the Columbia Gorge and came upon Hood River and found this place. It seemed like just about every restaurant in the town had at least a 4 star rating so we picked this one. I had a small Greek salad and it was really good and a pretty healthy portion for a small. My family ordered the veggie burger, macaroni and cheese and fish & chips. We were stayed in Hood River three nights for a wedding and ended up going to this bar every one of those nights - it even became the venue for the wedding after-party. I would classify it as a dive bar with great entertainment - different every night. The drinks were stiff and the bartenders and other locals were super friendly. I followed Yelp advice and decided to stop by. I am glad I did. I was starving after a long drive to Portland and couldn't wait any longer. I ordered a strawberry mixed drink form the menu, Yum! I also ordered the fish sandwich, Ive had better, but I must say that it was pretty good. Now, lets talk about the best part: the tater tots!! They were slightly over-coocked, my favorite way of cooking them, therefore extra crispy. They were perfectly seasoned. so good. and to top it off, the service was great. The only reason I took off a star is because the restaurant has a particular secondhand store smell that was bothering me the entire time i wanted for my food. We were visiting Hood River with family and stopped in at the Trillium Cafe for dinner on a Saturday night. It's either a tiny restaurant with a decent sized bar, or a bar with some booths. Either way, it was actually kid friendly (before 9pm, we were told), so we stopped in at around 6pm and ordered some dinner. The wait was very long and the staff was inattentive. They forgot to bring out my clam chowder and after I reminded them, I got it with my entree. The clam chowder was good, but the chicken strips and fries were disgusting. I think their oil was bad in their fryer because both the fries and chicken were dark and tasted like burnt oil. The rest of the groups' entrees were hit and miss. It sounds like if you want something good here order a sandwich and tots. Avoid the other entrees and the fries. read more

My food was terrible. Based on the reviews, maybe an off night? Fish n' chips were way over-cooked; burnt taste in my mouth, dry fish. Yuck! They were "all out" of malt vinegar. No matter, I needed the tartar sauce to cover the terrible taste. My hubby liked his chicken parm sandwich, though it was greasy and also thought my food was pretty gross. Definitely stale bar food. If you're looking for some good bar food, the Trillium Cafe is the place. I've eaten here several times and I've always left with a smile. Burgers are big and juicy, the meatloaf sandwich is always amazing and the tater tots are perfectly seasoned. I always end up eating way to much when I'm there because I can't stop putting food in my mouth. Wow. I popped into this place looking for a mid afternoon lunch and a beer. I didn't feel like facing a crowd at one of the breweries. I'm now munching away on one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while! Feels more like a bar than a cafe but is family friendly with a stock of board games. We stopped by here for a lunch after exploring Mount Hood. We ordered the meatloaf and blackened chicken sandwiches. The meatloaf was moist and flavorful. The chicken breast was good but could have used more flavor. Being a southern girl visiting from Texas, I have tasted blackened food with more flavor.
