If I could give this salon 0 stars, I would…read more I went in last night after work to get a Gel-X manicure. Before my appointment started, I asked a gentleman at the salon how much Gel-X cost, and he told me it would be $55. The technician who did my nails barely communicated with me throughout the service. The only questions she asked were what shape and color I wanted. I also told her that the nails were too long, but she didn't seem to care and continued without making any adjustments. When it came time to choose a color, I asked how many coats she normally applies, and she told me one. However, she ended up applying at least three coats. Once she finished, I told her that I didn't like the color and was unhappy with how long the nails were. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, she told me the nails were already dry and that I would have to start over if I wanted a different color. I asked if she could simply remove the color, but she refused and said she had another client coming in that has an appointment. Things got even worse when it was time to pay. The total came to $62.52, even though I had been quoted $55. When I questioned the price, she turned the screen toward me and pointed out an extra charge for "long length" nails. I never asked for long nails--in fact, I specifically mentioned that they were too long. Charging me extra for something I didn't request is unacceptable. Maybe there was a language barrier that caused a miscommunication between the gentleman who assisted me to the technician. I also noticed a $1.52 tax charge. Since New Hampshire does not have a general sales tax on nail services I was confused about why I was being charged tax. I paid in cash, so there shouldn't have been any card processing fees either. It didn't occur to me until the next day, but now I can't help but wonder how many other customers have been charged tax/fees without noticing. Between the poor communication, lack of concern for customer satisfaction, unexpected charges, and disappointing results, this was one of the worst salon experiences I've had. I will never return and would not recommend this salon to anyone.

Meghan is, hands down, the best esthetician you'll find anywhere. I started seeing her years ago…read morewhen she was working out of Optima Day Spa. Now in her own space at Alainn, she's created such a lovely, warm and welcoming place to come and be pampered. I always get there early and relax for a few minutes in the waiting area with a cup tea. Her services are reasonably priced and she always goes above and beyond to make it well worth the cost. She's thorough and informative and clearly has a vested interest in her clients' overall well-being beyond just the work that she does. She has helped me learn how to better care for my own skin and is always willing to give tips and tricks so even if you can't go regularly you can take away the tools to pamper your skin at home! I live in LA and wait for months to have the chance to come home, visit my family, and go see Meghan! And it's always well worth the wait!!

But my moustache was beginning to look like Fu Man Chu, so I realized that I really needed to get it waxed. She did my brows and got rid of a couple of growths that just spontaneously like to sprout on my face (I could never be a man). I've only gotten my moustache waxed about 4 times in my lifetime and can't say it's fun, but I will credit Meghan with doing everything possible to stem the pain. Meghan is cordial, efficient, has a sense of humor, and she is a perfectionist. My lip broke out afterwards, but, apparently, this is common. The bumps did go away within a week or so. I do feel cleaner, and it actually enhanced my features, giving me a smooth look. I rarely wear makeup but my lipstick did look better. I'll be going back routinely.
