We are beyond happy and thankful for the staff at Trim and Proper. They are so good to our pup. It goes beyond the bath and haircut (They are great dog groomers). They actually care, and it shows. They caught a weird infection in our dog's paws one time. They took pictures and called us right away when his paws didn't look normal. We were able to get help immediately because of them. I cannot believe I am writing this review. My dog has been a client at this establishment for almost 4 years, my dog is 5. After today's interaction never again. I had to cancel my dog's appointment since her hair was too short to cut. An appointment reminder text was sent Saturday from Trim and Proper but I didn't see it until Monday I was working.. ok my fault but life happens. I responded Monday and asked to reschedule, no response. Apparently they are closed Sunday and Monday so if you need to cancel a Tuesday appointment the last day to do it would've been Saturday. Btw, the number I texted is an actual cell phone. Not an automated line. I gave 24hr notice. Wouldn't it be good practice to send a text Friday instead to give your client time to respond? Even if I responded Saturday it wouldn't have been a full days notice. I get a text this morning saying since my dog wasn't coming in I would have to pay for half the cost of the grooming since I didn't get back to them Saturday. Now, I understand policy but we have been clients for so long and never have had to cancel "last minute". However when she has called to cancel short notice, no problem here. I'm guessing I should've charged her a fee and asked for a credit towards our next groom? Anyways, I asked if the fee could be waived this once since we've been long time customers and the answer was no which card do you want to use? After I plead my case all of my pleas were ignored and instead I was asked which card I want to pay with AGAIN. At that point my hands were tied and we decided we had to bring her in. During pick up my husband went in and expressed his dismay about how things were handled on their end and Janelle immediately became rude and dismissive. She wasn't apologetic, she wasn't caring. Janelle even went as far as calling me a liar. Excuse me? For someone who has "worked in customer service all her life" we can't tell. She tried to throw me under the bus multiple times and was unwilling to hear anything, interrupting many times. It's not the matter of policy it's ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Over a cancellation charge of $35.00 she lost consistent customers who book every 6-8 weeks and pay over $100 a visit including tip! We've literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars with her. How rudely we were treated is unforgivable. I guess her long term clients don't matter since she's in such "high demand". Oh well. read more

My usuals groomer was fully booked within the timeframe I needed my dog bathed. I decided to check out this place based on their great reviews. When I brought my dog over, they really listened to my needs on what kind of shampoo he needed due to his dry skin because of allergy season, and they explained their process and what type of conditioner they use and the ingredients. They go all out for your pets! And their shop is super adorable :) Will use them again for sure! :D read more

I'm giving this place a 1 star 1/2 for partially cute decor and 1/2 for some empathy from the owner I'm assuming. I went in to get my 9 month old puppy nails clipped and wish I hadn't. When I got him in the car I noticed blood on my hand and on my center counsel. I understand accidents happen but for them not to mention we "accidentally" cut too short is no where okay. I went back in and whoever was at the front desk didn't even say sorry or any sense of care just said, oh that happens! Umm okay... then they put whatever solution on him and brought him back out and said that's what happens when he's so wiggly. Yes, I know my puppy is wiggly but please don't place blame on him. He's a puppy and I'm the customer trusting you know what you're doing with a wiggly dog or not. Sadly I wanted to like this place. However, I will never go back!! read more

First off, the place is decorated so cute and like a real salon. Felicia has been great with my dog Chewy. I've had trouble finding a groomer before her because he's not the easiest as he gets very anxious, and because no groomer seemed to understand how I wanted his haircut. Chewy runs to the door every time I take him(which is huge for him) and Felicia's haircuts still leave him looking fluffy, which is what I love. I take him every 6 weeks for a Groom, then 6 weeks later for a bath/brush, and so on, which has worked perfect for being able to maintain his coat without matting. Be very specific when you ask for a grooming package. At the time of my booking I requested the Clarifying Bath Package (included services shown in screenshot from their website). When I dropped off my puppy a nice young girl helped me and asked what I would like done. I reiterated that I wanted the clarifying bath package and that my primary reason for coming in was to get the sanitary trim for my puppy. Everything seemed to be fine and I was told that she would be done within 2-3 hours. About 2.5 hours later I received a text letting me know that my pup would be done within the next 20 minutes. When I picked her up she seemed content and her coat felt very soft and fluffy so at first glance I was happy with my service. Once I got home I did a more thorough inspection and realized that no paw/pad trim had been done and there was also no sign that the sanitary trim was completed. I messaged the grooming parlor and was told that I have to request those items otherwise they won't get completed. Per their website and the very large sign next to their check in desk the only item in the Clarifying Package that is "upon request" is the anal gland expression. They apologized for the misunderstanding and let me know that I could stop by before they closed and the sanitary trim as well as the paw trim could be fixed. I went ahead and did this and the end result was a very quick and choppy paw trim (there was approximately 1/4 inch of hair still remaining between the front two paw pads on all four paws) and a sanitary trim that was minimal. At this point I had already come back once and the whole process took up way more of my time than I expected so there was no point in going back a third time. I had very high hopes for this business based on previous reviews and the friendliness of the staff. If someone simply messed up or if the apprentice forgot to do a service then a simple apology would have sufficed. However, being charged $75(plus tip) for a bath and nail trim and then being told after the fact that I needed to request those additional items that are part of the grooming package isn't good business (especially for first time clients). *A couple of days after my pups grooming service the owner sent out an email explaining that people must request sanitary trims as well as paw trims when they ask for the Clarifying Package but their online website does not reflect this update. read more

Trim & Proper is great! Felicia has been with my 4yr old Rough Coat Collie since he was 6 months old. We followed Felicia & Janel when Trim & Proper opened. They work great with my schedule & are very knowledgeable. Collies aren't very common in the area & have specific needs. I didn't know much about grooming collies, but the Trim & Proper Ladies educated me immediately which earned my respect & trust. In addition, my boy has allergies that always result in staph infections. Felicia keeps an eye out while grooming & uses great products that don't aggravate his skin. This is hands down the best dog grooming parlor in Santa Rosa. I have a border collie who was just put on this earth to shed hair. Since discovering Trim and Proper and their extra de-shed package I can get a few hair free days afterwards! I have a Papillion/Chihuahua aka Chion. First I want to say that I was very pleased with Felicia's customer service. She listened to all of my concerns and needs for my dog and was very patient with me while showing empathy and compassion for him. Luke, my dog, has had some trauma from groomers before due to groomers not paying attention while working with him, ripping hair out right in front of my eyes with the nail grinder at Petsmart, and I have been have been very nervous to take him to a groomer ever since. They have done it twice. I took a chance with a new groomer and I am very pleased. Luke came out happy and playful not nervous or whinnying. And he looked amazing. So fluffy and clean. Very happy with my short experience here! I was next door at Great China picking up food on my lunch break from work - and had my dog in the car. I stopped in to check prices and see how their walk-ins worked - I ended up doing a quick brush out and ear cleaning for my half golden half lab. I didn't catch the name of the girl who helped me - but she was very sweet and great with my dog! She even suggested some other things he might be needing. This place is amazing! My Pyr LOVES it here. The staff is very knowledgeable; usually when I have my Great Pyrenees groomed at other places, I have to be very specific about how she has double dew claws that need to be trimmed, and that her coat should not be shaved since she's double coated, but not here!
