I was on a hunt to find a great salon to add some color to my hair. I was recommended to try…read moreChokmah. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was warmly greeted by Judith. I explained to her what I wanted, but was a little overwhelmed with the color once it was finished. I figured it was just a shock since it was the first time I bleached my hair. When I got home, I realized that it wasn't what I wanted, so I called the salon to see if I could come in the following day. Judith saw me first thing, and found a color that I would be more comfortable with. I was very happy with the results, and wasn't charged for the second service. Chokmah has such a great vibe, and you can tell the owners really care about the customer's experience. I will definitely stop by again. Thank you Judith for all of your wonderful services!

Honestly, no other salon has relaxed my hair as well as they did here. I live in Astoria and I'm willing to make the trip just for the great outcome. They didn't rush it, took their time to make sure it was applied properly and the blow out at the end was the perfect final touch. The stylists were really nice. I liked that they outlined my desired services at the beginning so I was aware of the pricing and there were no surprises at the end, especially since they charge extra for deep conditioner, treatments, etc.

I mean she was great at cutting ,perming, sewing, you name it she was great at it! The problem with Sabrina is that she is unreliable, a bit confrontational, and she is the slowest working stylist that my friends and I have ever come across. Sabrina takes years to do your hair, she is never on time for appointments and if you are lucky enough that she is already at the salon for your appointment, be prepared for your whole day to be taken up with her talking on the phone, texting ,eating, taking her sweet time to finish your hair. I mean she really works slow, and this is from years of experience, and I know about 10 people that once went to Sabrina but all of them stopped because she lacked professionalism. In addition to that she chooses to go up and down on prices whenever she pleases. One week you could pay $85 and the next week you will pay $100 , for the exact hair style, and she just decides it whenever she pleases. Sabrina is a great stylist and I would never take that away from her but she is not worth the money and time being that there are a million other great stylist in that salon and in new york that don't take forever to do your hair and won't go up and down on prices just because they feel like it. You can not rely on Sabrina if you have made an appointment with her or if you are a walk in, and when confronting her on any issue she gets defensive and instead of accomadating she does not care. Pros: Great Stylist Cons: Unreliable, Confrontational, Random price changes, Slowest stylist you will ever come across Tip: If you do decide to go to this place, go to one of the other ladies to do your hair, and if you do decide to go to Sabrina make sure you have cab fair because by the time you get out of the salon, public transportation will have already stopped running properly...in other words don't go to sabrina.

Albina is amazing so accommodating and friendly. I have been for blow outs, root touch up and a cut. I am 100 percent satisfied with all of the services. I usually have my hair blown straight and Albina does a great job with that style but she's also pulled me out of my comfort zone and added a bit of volume and some curls which all look fabulous. There is also Rita who does manicures and pedicures. I haven't managed to get an appointment with her yet because she is always busy so she must be fabulous too. Let's give support to a new business.
