The staff and teachers are wonderful and willing to go the extra mile to support homeschoolers (especially new ones, like us). They have great options for onsite classes, a vibrant PTSA, and all the community you hope for in a brick and mortar school. Port Gardner has helped me gain confidence, both in my choice to homeschool, and in teaching itself.

After lots of research last year we decided to send our daughter to this school. Previously she had…read morebeen diagnosed as having a learning disability to which we showed the principle and educators at the school the paperwork just to make they would be able to accommodate her. She has now been there for a full year and they have not been able to accommodate her as they promised they would be able to. The last meeting we had the principle said "we produce honors students here" after which she said our daughter might want to get evaluated. Our daughter feels left out and unwelcome at this school. It's true that the principle makes the place sounds great, but that is her job too. As a parent if you try and give feedback she will just say "oh we are already doing those things" but no proof. Furthermore, the faith teachings are not being practiced. We had been contemplating whether or not to send her back next year however we have made our decision not to due to the lack of response from the principle. I've emailed and called her several times regarding our daughters future at the school and what we would like to see and we have yet to hear a response.

If I could change one thing, it would have to be the pick up situation. Maybe have different pick up times due to the extremely long lines. I've found a way around this though. I just arrive an hour early and nap in the parking lot until the bell wakes me.

I attended Northshore 2 decades ago as a middle schooler, and at the time I had mixed feelings. I…read morewas a hyperactive kid who struggled with focus regardless of my environment, yet I felt I was treated unfairly at the time. Deep down I knew this was probably a result of my actions and/or weaknesses, and overall I knew I loved and respected the staff and environment of the place, however as the years went on I was tempted to be bitter (especially after feeling so well received in future public schools). Fast forwarding a decade had brought me more experiences and perspective, allowing me to more thoroughly appreciate what Northshore was doing in my life at the time. They held a high standard in a way that balanced love and firmness. I think we were both growing and learning at that time, and I cannot deny that I was shown love, guidance, an example of excellence, etc. Super important things to a growing kid. Fast forward another decade, I was able to return to Northshore and visit with my old principal and some of the teachers I had back then. An awesome experience to see them as fellow adults, see their personal/professional growth and the success of their academics, school campus, etc. Even got to have a chat with one of my childhood heroes Marc Marion. Marc: well done, good and faithful servant! Coming full circle, I now have a kindergartener at Northshore. We weighed many options during our research, and we felt the overall benefits far outweighed the sacrifices. Almost a year into school, I can confidently say we made the right decision. Every school and every person has issues, quirks, etc., yet the level of excellence in all areas has surpassed our expectations. I could list all the positives I've seen, but I think Northshore does a well enough job of marketing themselves, so I'll leave it at this: I couldn't ask for a better place to entrust a significant portion of my son's daily mental/physical/spiritual growth. Our son attended preschool and pre-K here over the last two years and we had a wonderful…read moreexperience. The teachers were kind and caring, the center was clean, and our child genuinely loved coming here. It is hard to find a quality day care center, but this is definitely one of them! It is relatively affordable, especially for the high quality level of care. We loved how easy it was to communicate with his teachers and was a relief to know that he was in a fun and nurturing environment while we worked. His teachers got to know us and our child and found individual ways to connect with him, and foster growth both socially and academically. He's moving on to Kindergarten but we will definitely consider this KinderCare for our next child and for summer needs. Stephanie and Miranda have a great operation here, and we definitely recommend it!
