What I don't like about it is that the people coming here really do drink the Kool-Aid to an extreme degree and I guess you have to be Kool-Aid-infused to give up your precious time to come to a church and hear about stuff from thousands of years ago. I mean you have to be a Kool-Aid Drinker don't you? Or something. Somebody has to drag you here perhaps, if not the Kool Aid intoxication. They're definitely one of the less militant and more liberal churches but they also have some fake reviews on the internet as you can see so I can't give them five.

They do not water-down truth nor do they talk down to the listeners. They simply teach the Bible. This church isn't here to entertain you -though the music and the messages are great. This church exists to bring glory to Jesus. No cheesy sermon series or fog machines. No yelling preachers, either. Just teaching the word of God and keeping the focus on Him. What a tremendous blessing to find this church! Far too many churches get side-tracked and focus too much on their image, attracting crowds or proving how "unique" they are. Woodcreek isn't here to promote themselves, they are here to teach God's word. And they use a preaching team and preaching committee to insure you're not getting one person's take on the scripture. The senior pastor was well spoken and people were very friendly. We thought about joining and started to dive deeper into their belief structure. They are a fundamentalist church. They do not allow women to be pastors or even serve on the leadership board. They have limited women bible studies and divide the children by gender. I am born and raised Texas conservative, but come on! I cannot be a strong woman and role model to me daughters while claiming membership to this church. I understand that these patriarchal beliefs do still exist, but if you attend, you should do so being informed about what you are supporting. To their credit, they do not try to hide this and have a long description of "women in the church" on their material and website.

My husband called Pastor Dames and he embraced our family and told us whatever we needed the church would meet. He connected us with the bereavement team and they went to work on our behalf. They allowed us to use the church facility at no cost even though my sister was not a member. They pulled out the red carpet! Portia was a complete angel! During a long, hard divorce, where we tried to keep our kids invested in their church, my kid's youth mentor told my child "I'm so sorry you have a mother like yours." She was heartbroken. And refuses to return. None of us are prefect, but I'm private and only one side was heard. Grace wasn't given, love needed to be earned. This church was the final straw and after decades of me searching for God, this Church taught our family that Faith comes from us and not a building full of judges. My kid saw it before I ever did. And that's heartbreaking. Since we left...we coparent and our kids are thriving without having to meet so many moral expectations. So maybe the heights saved us in the end.

My…read morehusband and I love the contemporary 11 a.m. service, but they also have a more traditional 9:30 a.m. service. There are life groups for all ages during the services. (The one I attend is for the 50+ age group at 9:30 a.m., so we can attend 11 a.m., and we love it too. It's called Open Door.) I believe their is a mid-week ministry for young adults, and there definitely is that for kids and teens.
