Trinity is the only place in Philly to go for custom framing. Honestly I should've written this review years ago when Trinity did such an exceptional job framing work for my senior thesis show, now I'm afraid this is extremely overdue. As a mixed media artist who works with delicate materials, my work is often very fragile and nearly "unframe-able", but Trinity has always gone above and beyond to find solutions for framing my work and executes them beautifully. Prices are high at Trinity but well worth it for getting items you care about framed perfectly the first time. Do not trust any other framer in the city with your most valued frame-able items. Extremely creative and extremely friendly, the gang at Trinity never disappoints. We've had three important items framed here, and each time the staff has taken their time to guide us to something unique that shows off the piece beyond what we'd hoped for. All three pieces (and believe me, there will be more!) illicit immediate ooohs and aaahs by everyone who sees them for the first time. I chose Trinity for my first framing job. I called ahead of time and pretty much told them I had no idea what I was doing but that I needed to get a large canvas framed. The guy on the phone, Chris, walked me through the entire process and I ended up dropping off the piece that day. They had a great selection of frames. A ton of very cool woods and natural looking frames (which I love!) Chris helped me pick out the perfect one in my price range. These guys are awesome! I finally found the energy to go get an original artwork of mine framed, and took it in to Trinity, since they are in my neighborhood and I have peeked in their windows many times. I was really looking for some cheapo framer to just slap this thing in a frame, because while I won't go to Michael's or A.C. Moore and buy a cheap made in china frame, I didn't want to spend all my fun-money for the month on getting this collage on the wall. But after an unsatisfactory investigation of South Street frame shops that appear to have closed long ago, I just said what the heck and ducked inside Trinity. Jason was tending the shop and we had a great conversation about Philly, the organization I work for, and art. He set me up to float the collage I brought in, and frame it with a simple black border. The price was actually really fair for the service & quality. I felt like my artwork mattered to them as much as it mattered to me, and that it was going to be framed with care, rather than in a hurry. So 3 weeks later I got a call and my work was done! We've had four pieces framed by Trinity. All four pieces look fantastic. Two of them are floated without a mat and just look outstanding. They've also welcomed small requests (replacing hanging wire, using an old frame on a new piece). One of the main reasons I like these guys is that before I ever had any framing done with them, I brought in a piece I purchased already framed that was supposed to be properly mounted, but you never know until you look. I wanted to have it opened to be sure it was properly mounted prior to selling it (so I could disclose to the buyer). Trinity took the time to open it up, talk to me about the way it was, in fact, properly mounted and allowed me to photograph it for my buyer. And, I was floored they didn't charge me a dime. Needless to say, they have us as loyal customers now. They are pricey, but it is worth it to know your pieces are being treated well. read more

This place knows what it needs to do in terms of any type of framing. They have every option from museum quality framing to simple diploma mounting. I found Jason to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We had an original Audubon print that needed a conservation mat and UV filtering glass. They had "museum" glass which was also anti reflecting which was kind of amazing - completely clear. I was very impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. My boyfriend and I both love going in here because the vibe is so positive and the employees are some of the nicest, most down to earth people we have met in Philly altogether! The guys here have literally been EXCITED to see the items we have brought in (posters from 1960's, signed Beach Boys poster, etc) and they know exactly how to frame them to make them look the best, while also understanding that we are not the most wealthy of people. Sure its not *cheap*, but its quality framing for quality pieces, so it is far more than worth the money. AND if you wanted some basic frame for a normal size piece they even suggest buying your own frame online or at a Michaels/Target/etc because they wouldn't want you paying for custom work for something that doesn't need it. Which is pretty damn cool. They are also very quick to respond and answer all questions possible via email, which I found super helpful. Trinity is the best framing shop in the city, if not the entire area. I've used several framing shops, some repeatedly, in the past and admittedly got sucked into AC Moores "75% off framing special". Everything I've had professionally framed has been reframed by Trinity Framing. The staff is great. Every employee at Trinity is personable and not trying to rush you out the door. Their style is flexible from contemporary to traditional, or something way out of the ordinary. They have a variety of frames and framing styles to choose from, and have a knack for framing things you would never imagine to be "frame-able". Most importantly their prices are fair considering the high quality of their work. I'm at the point now where I would have no problem leaving a piece with them to do whatever they would like, knowing that it is going to look great! Trust the reviews! I have had two things framed here & they really did a wonderful job. I was initially hesitant to come in as I had heard that while they Trinity did a great job, they were very expensive. I actually found their prices to be very fair, especially when you consider what beautiful work they do. I first had a painting that my 3 year old son & I did in his art class, and the guys at Trinity listened to what I wanted and made a child's painting into a cool shadowbox. Most recently I went to Trinity with a tile which my son's school had put his hand print on. We again discussed my idea, and the result was an artistic and well made shadowbox. Trinity Framing is AMAZING! I called last week before they opened in a very emotional state (Jason I'm sorry for crying on your voicemail). My had recently given birth to my daughter and she unexpectedly had to be admitted to the NICU. We had been told that a neurologist wanted to meet with us, but we didn't know why. I had painted a picture for my daughter while I was pregnant with a verse from Psalms that ended up being incredibly comforting for me when she was admitted. I hadn't had time to get it framed and it was still on my watercolor pad at home. I had left a message asking if there was any way we could get it framed same day if my mother ran home and brought him the painting so I could place it next to her bassinet in the NICU. Not only did they do a beautiful job framing the picture, but it was ready 6 hours later and Jason was incredibly kind to my mother and husband when they picked up the picture. I was able to put the picture next to my daughter's bassinet and we ended up getting good news from the doctors. I will never ever forget this act of kindness on what was one of the hardest days of my life during an unbelievably stressful week. Trinity Framing is hands down the absolute best! My husband and I starting using Trinity Framing about a year ago and couldn't be happier with each and every piece that we have had framed. The first time we brought an item in to be framed Butch helped us. To be honest, we were a little overwhelmed by all of the options and we're not quite sure what would look best with the photo that we brought in. Butch patiently explained and showed us options based on what we thought we wanted. Long story short, we get our framed photo 2 weeks later and absolutely loved it. So overdue writing how truly great this frame shop is. Really wonderful, gentle guidance to help you select what is right for the piece and for your own style. I've been to other framers who have obvious go-to looks. But, Trinity is all about tailoring and personalizing. In fact, I went to them to re-frame a favorite piece after another place did a frustratingly mediocre job based on "the way it always looks best." Trinity has a beautiful and unique selection of frames and styles I haven't see elsewhere, to appeal to a wide range of people and art types. That was inspiring (and even a bit surprising after looking at their window display). So I spent a good long time there deciding. And, just when I thought I'd looked through everything and picked the perfect frame and we were finished taking notes and writing the bill, HOLD ON... I spotted THE perfect frame! (that second choice was the winner). Maybe the best part for me: the guys at Trinity have the patience of saints. I'm super picky and pretty indecisive. They were kind throughout.
