The board hired him as new pastor because he was suppose to serve as a Anahim Vineyard pastor. He eventually changed all the board members and made it into his own church. There is currently law suit from Vineyard association to take back the church property. What he did was not right. Many people who were influenced by Anaheim Vineyard have been deeply grieved and hurt by this Pastor.

It was devastating for his family, his current and former students, and his colleagues who all adored him. His family arranged the funeral and everything to be held at this church because my former teacher would come here every Sunday for church. He also happened to be living in the area. The funeral took place after New Year, and the inside of the church still had Christmas decorations. I didn't mind the decorations since it's a common thing in America for Christmas decorations to be up after Christmas and New Year's. It makes the inside of the church more lovely despite the grief everyone was having. This place has an area where I can sit up there and see the funeral service from a height. It was also a nice place where I can sit without feeling too overwhelmed as an autistic lady. I also forgot to mention that when I arrived at this church, I didn't have a black dress at the time, and I had to grab the only dress that I find was funeral appropriate. I asked a church employee if she thinks my outfit was appropriate for the funeral since I was worried it might be provocative. It thankfully wasn't. The lady didn't mind. At least I didn't come to this church naked or wearing overly bright clothing like a circus clown. Parking was also convenient for a lot of the people arriving at my teacher's funeral. There was parking right across the street, but I was a student at Chapman at the time so I had to park my car in one of the school-owned parking lots.

Their Bible-based sermons are Spirit-led and address the issues that plague today's society, culture, and politics. Also Pastor John is hilarious. I'm always cracking up, which, for me, is saying a lot. They are a church who preaches repentance, the power of prayer, and Christian revival in an increasingly sinful world. They are active in spreading the Gospel to unbelievers by going out and passing out flyers. In addition, they do not aggressively ask for tithes; which makes me happy to tithe knowing their priority is in the Word. This church is righteous, holy, and unapologetic in being the only type of Christian the Bible teaches.. one that values Truth over politeness/inclusiveness, because love is about correction as well as support. People conveniently forget this. Being "nice" and inclusive does not save people. So for Christians who criticize this type of faith is criticizing God and doesn't worship God, but rather has become their own god with their own personalized set of laws. The path to eternal life is narrow and few find it... they are the few, the remanent, so if you want to be apart of a courageous and spiritually powerful Church, don't hesitate to visit!
