A couple weeks ago we where told to do something on FASFA because it wasn't done initially. We didn't know anything about it. Now she's told because there's still a balance and it could take up to six weeks before FASFA kicks it in that she can't sign up for classes for second semester. WTF is this school doing. Why haven't they done there job and make sure new students have everything completed. Why are they holding students back from education? My daughters not the only one. I go in there and I get answers sometimes but not my daughter. The one stop as they call it to talk to people is mostly ran by the students. Which is fine but they don't know enough to help many students. I have tried to get answers but haven't gotten anything helpful and asking for someone who knows more doesn't do any good. There always busy. I would not recommend this school especially if they have an IEP or as this state calls it an ARD prior to going to college. They have a department that tells you to let the professors know you have one set up. And they said the can reach out for you as well but keep reminding the profeWell in doing so they don't give the extra time in test or any assignments and if one actually does they don't help you when you ask for help to find out what is needed to complete the assignment. All the school seems to do right is the nursing program which my sister graduated from a couple years again and my daughter may not be in that program but she wanted to go where her aunt went. Turns out they are pretty much good for just that program and seem to be all there known for. Don't waste your time using one stop for in-depth questions or concerns. Like I said I have no issues putting students to work but they need to get you the person who knows the answers when they don't. I thought this would be great for my daughter turns out to be a mistake and had really upset me and her along with many others.

It was more of a ordinary school that lacks history, traditions and school spirit. My tour guide, Cherish was the bomb.com though. She was funny, cool, and laid-back. Despite, all the old buildings and only the presidents building looking new--she made the tour exciting. I can't say much about the kinesiology department as we didn't cover that part. They do have forestry, but not horticulture which I'm looking to minor in with my major of kinesiology. The library looked pretty out-dated and basic which didn't appeal to me since I know I'll be spending a lot of time there. The dorms aren't the nicest either. It's horrible how they don't have a roommate survey in order to choose your roomie, you have to go based off of first day orientation which caters mostly to freshmen students and not transfer students. Like I said before, they lack traditions. The only two things that stand for SFA is the lumberjack stick that you have to buy and design on your own, the Stephen F. Austin water fountain changes to the school's color during finals week and the hand sign motioned to look like a gun or so. Wow! Big deal.. However, one cool thing is that SFA isn't affiliated with any other universities in Texas, it is its own school. Not a sister to no other school. That's neat. Though, it is located in the country and its better that way because you won't have to deal with loud unnecessary noises when you trying to study. The rec center/gym area is extremely small, but on the outdoors there is a lazy river that connects around. The campus isn't too big to get lost, but at the same time it's small enough to get packed quick. Scholarship opportunities seem to cater to the freshmen, so I can't say this school is transfer friendly. Additionally, everyone (staff) were extremely nice and showed their southern hospitality!

Baylor is a highly Christian and conservative university and has low tolerance for other religions and lifeways. It has a strange selective hiring practice in which your religion, faith, and beliefs are more important than academic abilities. Academic excellence takes a back seat to cultural and religious conformity at Baylor. I do not think the current $70-80 k/year price tag for Baylor is worth it, when a better education can be delivered for a fraction of the cost by excellent State schools. Too many of the Baylor students come from a narrow demographic of very well-off families, 75% from Texas. Waco is a dry, dull and staid place to live and often the student population ventures to Austin or Dallas on weekends. If sports, is your sole interests, than Baylor/Waco may be more attractive. I advise caution going to Baylor because behind the groomed grounds, and plastered smiles there is a monolithic religious culture that is unwelcoming to diversity and differences, that are common among use. I question the quality and meaning of higher education under such narrow strictures.

Think of it as a school where all the big businesses in the area got together, told UNT what kind of things they'd love to see in graduating college kids, and then UNT made programs tailoring to that. Bam. You've got the Frisco campus. No, it's not just a business school, although a heavy focus of the curriculum is put on accounting, finance, things like writing press releases, fund raising, public relations, etc. All sorts of things are taught there that corporations have a huge desire to see more focus on. Another key thing about the Frisco location is that it is predominantly all night classes, so it's tailor made for those already in the work force, maybe those wanting to get a different degree or even further an existing degree. You can still come here and do some basics (I took chemistry and a psychology course here) but they are typically afternoon to evening courses. Lots of the commuter students at the main Denton campus like the Frisco campus because parking is free and PARKING IS FREE. Yeah. It's worth putting twice. Plus they are super freaking friendly here. They always great you with a smile when you walk in, they give you free swag all over the place and I swear...It's like they remember you paid them to go there or something. Amazing. They cater food in all the time for all students and you can rent a laptop, use a printer, get scantrons, all free. Instructors are fantastic. I hope they offer more daytime options for core classes. It's a great facility.

We received multiple official safety alerts from the university, including an armed robbery in a dorm, a terroristic threat with an arrest in a residence hall, a stalking incident that led to a police pursuit, and a hazing investigation. Imagine knowing your child is required to live in that environment. My child described it as feeling like they were living in a prison, constantly on edge instead of feeling safe. No parent should have to worry like that. To make it worse, we paid around $22,000 for just two semesters, and it absolutely did not feel worth it. I am honestly just grateful this experience is almost over. If you are a parent, please do your research and think very carefully before sending your child here. I would not make the same decision again.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this school…read more I completed a course where the professor failed to grade exams in a timely manner, often taking 2-3 weeks to return grades. As a result, I was not given a fair opportunity to address issues with my performance or retake an exam before the course concluded. What is most concerning is that I have written communication from the department head, Tina Lancaster, acknowledging that this professor no longer works at the school and that similar issues affected other students. Despite recognizing the situation and apologizing, I was told there was nothing the school could do and that I would simply have to accept a failing grade. Students deserve timely grading, accountability, and a fair academic process. It is frustrating to be penalized for circumstances that were acknowledged by the institution itself. I hope the school reviews its policies and provides better protections for students in similar situations moving forward.

My experience was really good in the Biomedical Technology Department. Mrs. Debbie is fantastic and she truly cares about each students success. I can say the same about the teachers in this department as well. The hands on is there, you just have to put your hands in there. No one will tell you to not do that. No one will claim to read your mind, so if hands on is what you strive for, the professors are all about it. If you learn from a book better, then learn from the book. It's not high school, there is no hand holding to get you to do something. You'll get more feedback and help from a professor here than you will at a university, I know from personal experience. Take the initiative and better yourself. I can literally say my degree from TSTC has put my in a field that I make more than I ever made with my bachelors degree. These degrees will put you in the position to grow professionally. I would highly recommend going this route. The 4/5 stars is due to signing up for classes can be a pain in the registrars office. BUT you'll deal with the same thing at a university with quadruple the amount of students.

The finance department are incompetent. And the testing of check for understanding is rigged. Only thing positive i can about this school. Is the teachers were very helpful full and easy to get along when you need help . I did enjoy learning how to paint cars. But would not recommend this school to anyone else.
