Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. In October, we acquired a loan with decent terms from an established lender, which allowed us to begin the process of soliciting remodeling bids. After doing some preliminary research on contractors who'd recently completed bathroom projects, we asked three companies each one with positive reviews, to provide us with formal bids for our two-bathroom project. After carefully evaluating input from each of the firms on our short list, we confidently elected to go with IDB Construction. In all honesty, a major consideration, aside from the positive reviews that steered us to hire IDB was the attractive proposal they offered us, which was more cost-effective, overall, than the other two bids we received. IDB's bid noted that they would provide all necessary labor to include, demo existing bathrooms, installation of all selected hardware, plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, wall covering as needed, and painting. The contract specified that we would be responsible for procuring materials of our choice and that IDB would be responsible for installing same. A key concession IDB made to us was that they would pass on 100% of their contractor's license discount to us when we'd purchase from any of their long list of suppliers. This was truly invaluable to us when it came time to evaluate quality vs the cost of goods purchased, as we moved toward project completion, in early December. IDB Construction's owner/operators, Joshua and Rachel, were a true pleasure to work with and surprisingly amenable, with Gracie and I as we continued to collaborate with one another during the entire length of our project. Another attribute of Joshua's personality, which truly impressed me, was the empathy and understanding he displayed not only with my wife and I, but also with his workers. I gained increased respect for Joshua as time went on, appreciating not only his technical knowledge as a seasoned contractor but his easy-going manner and transparency, as well. Joshua never hesitated to provide straightforward input to me and staff, alike, whenever he felt it was necessary to solve what could become a serious problem or counteract a mistake that occurred as we progressed through the various phases of our project. As work commenced, Oren kept us updated and as work began, Oren realized that we would need additional repair to the wood beam structure of the house. He showed us the damage and again worked with us on options. His diligence in updating us really helped us in the end with the additional work that was needed.
