We were greeted by the lovely Maxine (Mrs Cobb) who was kind and welcoming. She showed us and let us sample a few of the different types of dates available, and even showed us how they grow and are picked from the palm trees. (They do offer tours that you can sign up for which we might have to go back for). Their property looks like a beautiful palm-filled oasis and is very worth visiting. We purchased 2 different types of dates that were both delicious and unique in their taste and texture. We will definitely go back and visit again soon. Thank you to the Cobb Family for a cool and educational experience.

I decided to do…read moresome research into other varieties, hoping I'd like a different one, and found out that there are also different ripening stages of dates: Kimri, Khalal, Rutab, and Tamar (the most popular). I was intrigued by the Rutab stage and started looking for availability in the Coachella Valley where we live. I read about Saralyn and Regulus Date Ranch from another local business; Bread & Flours, and am SO glad I did. May is late in the season, but Saralyn said she had some availability and we could come out to taste and pickup. Regulus Ranch is such a incredible operation (see all Yelp reviews for more on that), and Saralyn is so knowledgeable and hospitable! Their Tamar Medjools are so superior to any my husband has ever had, and I have found my new obsession with the Rutab Medjools (turns out I love them too, just less sweet/dry). We had to come again in June for more. We are looking forward to the upcoming season in Sept/Oct. when I can try my next quest: the yellow Barhi date (Khalal stage). They harvest quality dates in many varieties, including: Medjool, Deglet Noor, and Golden Zahidi. Their QC dept is very tight, as they discard product that doesn't look perfect, but I'd be happy to eat. The Medjools are the sweetest and juiciest, and my favorite. My wife likes the texture of the Deglet Noor.

The physical farm is very beautiful with fruit trees everywhere. The market is clean and bright, full of items I would like to buy and also give as gifts from local farmers. I saw vegetables and handcrafted oils, soaps, native basketry, and the beautiful smoothie bar. I bought the most fragrant kale, plump green onions, russet potatoes, berry with ginger jam and a spicy hot sauce. The farm brings in products from other local businesses. The farm is easy to reach from Indio or Palm Desert. Having organic treasures like this is such a treat. Do check it out.

But if you are, Temalpakh Farm has extremely fresh, home grown produce and some other products produced by fellow Native Americans from the Western US. How did I get here? I went to Desert X 2025 (which I adore) and one of the art installations was on this site. Yes, they make you drive to weird and wonderful places for the biennial art scavenger hunt. The farm site has a new parking lot, an elevated outdoor seating area that is great for hosting company events or parties (as long as it is not in the hot summer months) and even a pond with a water fountain that might double as part of their irrigation system. When I was was there in May, some of the seasonal produce included heirloom tomatoes, squash blossoms, butter lettuce and artichokes. What could possibly be the best thing in the farmer's market is their smoothie stand. This being the palm desert, a majority of their freshly made smoothies have dates in them! Palm Tree Brew (coffee cold brew, unsweetened almond milk, banana, dates, mesquite powder, honey, date syrup, salt) - Okay, a coffee date shake is not for everyone, but if that's your thing, they make a great one. It's a perfect balance of everything, you can taste the coffee, the dates, the banana, the honey. All the ingredients were fresh, served smooth blended, nice and cold. A safer bet for most would be to stick with one of the other fruity date shakes here. Palm Tree is general date shake, Berri Crunch has mixed berries and dates, the Hulk has dates, spinach, kale, carrots, avocado, apple juice and pineapple juice, Green Feather has dates, banana, apple, avocado, kale, spinach and Farm's Dragon has dragon fruit, dates, pineapple, banana, chia/flaxseed and shredded coconut. This farm is under the same ownership group as the local Native American casino nearby. If you happen to be near the area, check out this farmer's market!

FRESH FARM EGGS!!! (5 stars + meteor shower + starlinks)…read more Pasteurized eggs are the best quality. But pasture raised + fresh farm eggs; Hens that roam freely and forage, even better quality! Did you know... fresh farm eggs can sit on the counter (unrefrigerated) for up to 14 days IF the eggs have yet been refrigerated. And they are SO good. Obviously, refrigerate if they won't be consumed within the 14 days but once refrigerated they must stay refrigerated . When buying at the booth, they have not been refrigerated. Current price: $8 for 1 dozen. Expensive but quality and freshness is priceless. If you haven't had fresh farm eggs or don't know the difference, you need to refine that pallet of yours because you are missing out. Fresh as in unwashed!!! I've gone "country" in this beach city! Many times I have considered taking the drive to Ramona to the farms to hunt for some fresh eggs for my baked goods, breakfasts, and my fresh pasta noodle making. Especially when it comes to making my fresh pasta noodles from scratch I want the freshest eggs possible. Well, you don't need to drive to the farms. Their tent is available at some of the farmers markets around the county. If you see their tent, don't pass them up! Well worth $8. Some of the other food vendors at the farmers markets use their eggs as well. I had a "breakfast bowl" and they were frying up fresh eggs from Three Sons Farm. The taste of fresh eggs... I can't find the right words that deserve their compliments. Has a fresh and clean taste to them. The yolk doesn't have a harsh "yolks-ness" taste, it's lighter and creamier - if that makes sense?! The difference is in the yolk. I will take creamier over store bought any day. Ex: I make my own fresh pasta noodles from scratch. That alone, the noodles are already fresh and silky. With fresh eggs... "!!!!!" JABA APPROVED. Until the next review....

So worth coming here to experience a rustic farm life and learn how dates are grown and harvested. Our tour guide and owner of the farm showed us around where 50 date palm trees are planted. The family sell their dates on the property and can also ship their dates to the US.

We bought 5 pounds of Medjool dates but the other dates they grew and sold were also great! We also took an informative and informal tour of the farm for $20 (which is $20 per group). The woman who runs the farm with her husband and father was very knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining what San Marcos Date Farm does to make their dates taste so great --- from the growing of the trees to the protecting of the clusters of dates with cloth covers. It's a small farm --- only 50 trees --- but the love and attention to detail in the growing of dates was pretty inspiring for me.
