Chicken Fingers
Jando S.

Triplet's long history in Baton Rouge began as a convenience store on Highland Road and when a Vietnamese family took ownership, it became one of the city's most popular fried chicken joints and was affectionately known as "The Blue Store" by locals. After several years, multiple locations, and endless lines, they are still the one and true original. Whether it's waiting at the drive-thru or going into the store, the lines are almost never-ending, especially during peak times. There is usually a steady flow of people coming in and just before closing time, they're asked to go back to their car. People might have to wait anywhere from 20-40 minutes before all is said and done. What is patience? It's having to wait when the line stretches all the way out into the road. Another thing that exacerbates the problem is that the drive-thru mic and menu is actually broken. I've eaten here a number of times over the years and I've never seen it work. Everyone in a car will have to order when they get to the window. There's even signs taped on the window that have specials not even mentioned on the menu. The fried chicken is juicy, crispy, and quite addicting. The drumsticks are popular, but the breast is slept on in a big way. Tenders when available are nice, but the bone-in chicken is where it's at. Couple that with a few of their potato logs, some of their large wings, and a drink and it's going to be a cheat meal beyond insanity. Your heart will clog but the stomach will be happy. It deserves its own paragraph, but the shrimp fried rice is a must order. It's not special; no onions or extra fixins, likely doused in MSG, but is downright *addicting.* (#1) It's salty and savory in so many ways and is an item I'll actually order on its own *and* also order as a meal combo side. Again, I'm not endorsing this item because I really want all of it for me. The patrons are going to be from the neighborhood mainly and folks appreciate the prices. Service is always on point, even if they mumble a lot, but the attitude is outstanding. From time to time, they'll hook me with a soda and take my order with a smile. Credit cards are accepted, but cash is always king. _____________ (#1) I realize I'm going to lose street cred for this, but so be it.

Don't let the outer appearance deter you! The food is so good inside.

I just finished my first ever platter of fried chicken from Triplets Blue Store. Like, I literally just closed the box and licked my fingers one last time- and I felt immediately compelled to get on my Yelp app to tell people about it! If that doesn't tell you it's awesome fried chicken, I don't know what will. First I will say, this place isn't that great looking on the outside. But dont let that deter you from trying the food. I promise you, you will be happy you did. Now, for my only gripe. The drive thru line takes a while. With only 3 cars ahead of me upon my arrival, I was in line for about 30 minutes. But the food was definitely worth every minute I spent waiting! The food was everything I thought it was going to be. The chicken wings were big (they give you whole wing), juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and were "fresh out of the grease" hot when I recieved them. I also really loved the shrimp fried rice! The combo of the wings and rice was fabulous. It literally took me back to my childhood- eating chicken wing/fried rice platters from the Chinese corner store in Philly. It's amazing how food can do that. Actually transport you to another place and time.... I'm going to give myself a pat on the back for making the decision to stop here for food tonight. Well done, me. Be proud of yourself too, and go grab some food here.

Was absolutely dying to have some fried chicken for lunch and decided to swing by Triplet's Blue Store. I was pretty sad when I finished those 3 wings because I was looking for more. They were seasoned sooo well and fried so crispy! Also got a freshly dropped order of chicken gizzards... so good... ate them up before I even got to take a picture! Can't wait to come back and try the red beans and an order of chicken liver.

Definitely my favorite guilty pleasure food in Baton Rouge. The flavor of the fried chicken wings are so unique and addicting and they are always hot and crispy!!! BEST FRIED CHICKEN WINGS in the south!!! It is cheaper the more wings you buy, so definitely don't be shy to share with some friends. I also LOVE their shrimp fried rice because it's very cheap and filling. The cheese fries are also bomb, so I highly recommend!!! The only con is the drive thru line is always pretty long. You have the option to go inside and order as well, but I always come out smelling like oil and grease if I stay in there for too long. I also wouldn't recommend coming when it's almost closing as they often run out of food. Everyone please try Blue Store as it's worth the hype and money!

OMGEEE! Best fried chicken I've ever had. Seriously, ordered 40 wings $30 I think and we devoured them within 10 minutes - perfect amount of crisp and spice and taste - I mean this beats any other fried chicken I've had - seriously. Wish I didn't have a dinner to attend that evening a but u would've gone through 10 or 15 easily. Come and try this chicken - you will not regret it! There are other locations but they all have the same recipe. Thank you for my cousin for referring me to this spot! Enjoy!

Be sure to stop in! A handful of college students told us about this local spot and told us to go. We had so much fun grabbing a bunch of chicken, red beans & rice, potato wedges, and headed back to our nice AC place to dig in. The establishment is very small with limited seating / can also be quite warm, which is why we opted to grab and go. The chicken wings by were some the BEST we have ever had. As we arrived they just finished a batch, so they were super hot and delicious. The flavor of the red beans & rice had a hint of sweet that really complimented the chicken wings. The potato wedges are exactly that....fresh chunks of potato coated and deep fried. All three of these menu items together = perfection. Truly the perfect lunch - and affordable as well! For a family of 4 we paid roughly $15 for all that you see in the photos posted.

Six wing plate with fries and 2 rolls

I hadn't been to "the blue store" in a while. They've expanded quite a bit since my first visit at the original location years ago. I decided to visit this location and see if I could get the same ol' good chicken wings that I used to get at the "hole-in-the-wall" original spot. Well, I got the six wing plate with fries (comes with 2 rolls and a canned soda) and a side of shrimp fried rice (2 adults and 1 child split this and we were all full). For some reason, the wings weren't as good as I remember. Don't get me wrong, they were good, but just not as good as they were at the first locale back in the day. Maybe it's the nostalgia, I don't know. Anyway, the fries weren't good at all to me, I should have gotten a potato log, which I remember being pretty good. The shrimp fried rice was tasty...I really enjoyed that. Overall, the food was good, but I'm curious to see if any of their other locations are better.

Chicken, fries, roll.

Cheap, better than Popeyes. Diverse menu with great deals for meals. Liver is good. 9/10, almost as good as "chicken in a box" in nola.

We took our mom here for her birthday in early June. The service was okay at this restaurant. There was nothing that stood out in particular about the service, it was pretty average. The food at this restaurant all tasted great. I tried their fried green tomatoes appetizer as well as their golden fried alligator which was delicious. I got the jerk fried chicken with red beans and rice and smoked sausage for my entree and it was good. I was expecting my chicken to be spicy or to at least taste like jerk seasoning but it didn't at all. It was more like a BBQ sauce with no heat at all. The menu was also very lacking to me, we all felt that it was missing items or needed more. Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
