[[HIGHLIGHT]]I just love it here. I sometimes stop at the bar since it's close to my apartment. It's great vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Larissa, Iman, and Gabby always give great service when I am there!! The happy hour special is also a steal!!! Great sized portions for $10 and you must try the Gregory Burger. Also they have a great steak if you come during dinner time. My preferred steak is cooked "Pittsburgh style" and many places can mess that up quite easily but it's been wonderful everytime I've been there. I've been coming for years. Only complaint is that I wish they'd bring their old chocolate cake back ugh! Anyways, great place and I recommend over and over again!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing ambiance, quiet restaurant located in the historic downtown Baton Rouge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of parking but they have valet service and it's free with eating in the restaurant. Just make sure you get your ticket validated. The soup of the day was mushroom. Second best mushroom soup ever had. Secondly to 1908 at Longwood Gardens. Highly recommend. I had the Sensation salad with chicken. Very refreshing yet filling by adding the grilled chicken. Love the cut up tomatoes and what I think was caper berries. I love that when I made the reservation on open table, the restaurant knew my allergies when I arrived and had marked up a menu for me! Excellent service. Our food was great and our service exceptional. I highly recommend The Gregory if you are in the area.

Came here for a night cap drink but ended up have a host of plates. Over performed for sure. The crab cakes were the best plate we tried, with real seafood. The burger slapped as well. The patty was great chuck.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was fancy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. prices for happy hour bar bites and drinks were impressive for the quality. The only downfall is that they were kind of busy when we arrived and it took probably at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged... Other guests that we're standing behind ordered and served before us even though we were sitting at the bar patiently..that seemed a little bit odd coming from an ex bartender ... although the two bartenders that did acknowledge and serve us were very helpful and kind so I feel like it made up for the loss in the beginning!

Don't sleep on the Happy Hour at The Gregory in downtown BR. Select cocktails/beers 7 to 10 bucks Plenty of food options like the pic 10 bucks each I was not expecting that burger to be so good or the flatbread but I'm already asking my hubs when we're going back for happy hour again They run happy hour everyday 2-7 and the valet parking is free if you eat at the restaurant. (Tip your valet!)

Went back for a lunch date and enjoyed our selections. As always the place is beautiful. I reserved on Open Table but there was plenty of seating so a reservation didn't seem necessary. We started with the Boudin balls and fried cauliflower. Both were pretty good. There was a little inconsistency with the cauliflower as far as the coating but the flavor was really good. The burger was delicious. The fries were hot and fresh! The bbq wings were good. The sauce was light and not overpowering. We had two non alcoholic Tea drinks but they were super super sweet!! Next time I would ask for light syrup. Our waiter was super friendly. Also I purchased a voucher from 225 eats! It was $24 for $40 in food. I had no issues redeeming it. We'll definitely be back.

My wife treated to lunch at this fabulous place. I must say the inside of this place is very beautiful. I really enjoyed my date. The food was delicious. I definitely recommend this place. I will most likely return. Good vibes!

I always come here during the lunch hour and order the express lunch and generally enjoy what they offer. I look forward to going for a dinner!

We went for our anniversary and it was pretty dead. I will say that there was an LSU game going on so that could have been why. We started off at the bar for happy hour and had the sazerac's, French 75's and charcuterie board. The drinks were pretty good as well as the board. However we did have to wait for the board a bit. We then had a table and got steak mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was overdone and mashed potatoes were bland. I will say that George our server was the redeeming person for the experience. He was a great bartender and server and we appreciated his attention to detail. We would go again because hey it might have been just a slow night. The location though was great in relation to downtown.

Amazing, speedy and friendly surface. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful, intimate but well-lit venue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was fantastic. Wonderfully seasoned and complex flavors that all worked together.

Skip it. There has to be a better place to go. We had a reservation for 8PM. By 8:15, I was looking for a server and ordering waters for us and getting menus from the bar. I asked for a water refill and at 8:47PM, my boyfriend went to the bar for to get it for me because our server still hadn't brought me a water. We also still didn't have our food. My man had his heart set on the duck and they took the order but came back later to say they didn't have it. Then we sat and waited for the meals we ordered... And waited. And waited. And waited. Woof. What a disappointment. The drinks were fine. The food was ok. Fingerling potatoes weren't seasoned at all. The sweet potato "fries" were just little cubes. At the end of the day: service is terrible. Drinks are good. Food is mediocre. Go somewhere else.

This was supposed to be a pork chop cooked medium. It was well done and dry.

We were in Baton Rouge for the weekend and The Gregory looked like a great place for a nice date night dinner. I am so disappointed in this restaurant. I really had high hopes. We ordered a chicken gumbo and the tomato bisque. The bisque required a substantial amount of salt to have any flavor but the gumbo was so salty it was inedible. We moved on to the main course, a bone in pork chop and the filet both we're supposed to be medium. The steak was cooked perfectly and was a decent steak but nothing super special for the price. The pork chop was well done. If you have ever cooked a bone in double chop, you know it is difficult to cook it through. This chop was cooked all the way through. It was tough and I couldn't eat it. They asked if I wanted it remade but by this time I had no confidence in the chef so I said no. So we paid for a pork chop we sent away. The bread pudding dessert was good but for $300 I would have preferred to eat pizza. I do not suggest this location-it is overpriced and hit or miss with flavor and food.

I also got an old fashioned which was great. We ordered the beef wellingtons minis and the duck confit tacos which were very yummy. There were not a lot of people there at all. It was us and another couple. We did not have any long wait times at all which was one of the reasons I chose an earlier reservation time not a time later in the afternoon. It's what will lure you in, with a small sidewalk patio that's perfectly inviting (perhaps less so on a 90 degree night) and then you walk in and hit dark nirvana with black walls, stunning patterned accent walls and amber fixtures and lighting. An enormous, really cool chandelier hangs from the very high ceiling. I could probably stay here forever (and I haven't even gotten to the drinks yet). The bartender was really nice, offered us wifi right away so we could use the QR code. I knew I wanted a sparkling rose and she recommended one for me. Then, because my husband asked about mezcal, she made him a cocktail that she's testing out for the menu. On the sweeter side, but delicious and beautifully concocted (I felt fancy as I drank it). Wall art! Oh yes, it's beautiful, too. I particularly admired two huge framed portraits of black cats dressed in finery. Seating is at the large bar or at a number of small cocktail tables lining the wall. What a surprise lurking in sleepy Downtown Baton Rouge. While it's been a while since I've been here, it's in a league of its own in an area that you'll be more likely to find sports bars.

I had a very upsetting experience at Mother's Lounge during pub quiz night…read more I am autistic. I arrived late, did not have a team, and was standing alone in the corner trying to be unobtrusive. There was a small stage with a folding table where the quiz host was asking questions. Between questions, music would play while people wrote down answers, and I was singing along quietly. Staff told me to move away from the stage, and I did. Then they told me I was not allowed to sing along with the songs between questions and called it disruptive. The situation escalated from there. The context matters. This was a bar that does karaoke regularly, and there was already a loud song playing between quiz questions while people were writing down answers. I was singing along to music that was already in the room, not trying to interrupt the quiz or perform over anyone. I also stood as far away from the quiz participants as I could without going outside, and when I sang louder than softly, I turned toward the wall/corner because I was trying not to project into the room. Maybe the sound carried more than I realized, but my intention and my behavior were not careless or hostile. When I became visibly upset, they threatened to call the police if I did not leave immediately. I said I needed five minutes to gather myself and my belongings. They refused and told me I had to leave right then or they would call the cops. That is when I raised my voice. I understand venues have rules. But there is a big difference between enforcing rules and escalating an overwhelmed disabled customer who is trying to comply. This was humiliating and frightening, and I hope ownership takes disability awareness and de-escalation seriously.

Discover Baton Rouge's Best-Kept Secret: A Hidden Gem Underneath the City…read more Tucked beneath Azteca's Mexican Restaurant and nestled right on the edge of the Mississippi River, this isn't your average dive bar. Since the 1930s, this historic spot has been serving up cheap, strong drinks in a cozy, basement hideaway. It's off the beaten path, and its entrance is a little tricky to find - just the way you want your dive bars to be. Once you do find it, prepare for a throwback to a time when things were simpler: dark hallways lit by a few twinkling Christmas lights, leading you into a dimly lit, welcoming space. The bar is stocked with an impressive selection of scotch, and the staff is as friendly as they come. It's a place where everyone knows your name, and the drinks come strong and cheap. The vibe is laid-back, with darts, a jukebox, and a pool room that's a little too fancy to be considered "divey" -- but hey, that's part of its charm. This is the local hangout, a true haven for Baton Rouge's service industry crowd and anyone who just wants to enjoy a drink in peace, away from the downtown hustle. Oh, and did we mention the drink specials? This place knows how to throw a party: SIN Night on Sundays (yes, it's as fun as it sounds) Ladies Night on Mondays, with FREE drinks for women from 9-11 PM Reverse Happy Hour on Tuesdays, where the drinks get cheaper every hour Bingo Night on Thursdays And, if you're out late, they're the only bar open after 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays! Now, technically, it's a speakeasy post-Covid, but getting in is easy: just scan the QR code on the door, and they'll email you a code to enter. Once you're in, it's like you've entered your own secret spot, away from the crowds. Whether you're a dive bar connoisseur, a fan of strong drinks, or simply looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience, this hidden gem has something for everyone.
