Beacon House is a 100-year-old building nestled in the heart of the Beacon Hill neighborhood, just north of downtown San Antonio. In 2017, The Park Community Church was generously gifted this charming building and renovated it to create a multi use space that is perfect for coworking, events, meetings, or seminars. Both coworkers and event rentals have access to kitchenettes on both floors of the building, free Wi-Fi, private meeting rooms, flexible large group spaces, virtual meeting capabilities, and audio/visual equipment. Beacon House is also the home to a suite of licensed professional counselors who welcome clients in a safe, private area of the building. We understand the importance of mental health but know that seeking counseling can sometimes be cost-prohibitive. To ease this burden, we are proud to use a portion of the profits generated from coworking and event rental fees to create a scholarship fund that can be used to offset counseling costs. Multiple seating areas inside & outside. Private room rentals for a party. I placed an order online for tostada burger to go and it was ready at counter on time. I opened the box and my jaw dropped - holy cheese!!!! I believe their website says it's 1/4 lb patty and there was probably close to 1/4 lb cheese on there! Well maybe not that much but there was a lot and it was perfectly melty. I ordered fries but didn't eat then because the burger was so delicious then I was stuffed. I went back a few days later before leaving town and enjoyed 1/2 order of bean & cheese nachos and margarita on their patio. Saw many people enjoying burgers & milkshakes. It's sooooo good. Over the years, I watched as Chris grew the business and it expanded to a place where hundreds could sit and enjoy the consistent quality he offered. Sadly, Chris went to Jesus a few years ago and the family sold it to a group that promised to maintain Chris' vision. They have largely done that. The burgers are 5-star classics served in a welcoming party atmosphere. My three star review is not for the food or the good service, it's for the constant price increases that make the customer feel like they are the new guy in the cellblock every time they open their wallet. They jumped near 100% with COVID and are now 50% above that!! It's getting to the point where one would rather eat at home! C'mon, guys. Try to hold the line on prices!

The library also has a great park surrounding it, which is perfect for the Bushnell! Across the other street, Shook, is Trinity University. You know that if you're a Trinity student, and you score one of these apartments, you've got it made. However, the average tenant doesn't seem to be Trinity students, it seems to maintain an exclusive atmosphere. The reinforced concrete structure is clad with stucco and cast stone details of Spanish Colonial Revival. The building has a roof balcony, which takes up the entire roof. It's a great location to get primo views of downtown! The elevators are nice, and fast. The grounds are well kept, and there seems to be ample parking.

The view of downtown and hill country is amazing--especially at sunset. My husband and I got married here and it was the best place in town to tie the knot. It would be good for any special dinner or special occasion though. They have a large space on the floor below the terrace that you could do a dinner inside, and the terrace is an amazing space for dancing and/or the ceremony. The managers couldn't be more helpful and fantastic which is helpful when you don't need any more stress. They do tours of the space at sunset regularly (call for schedule), and it really gives you a great idea of how magical and breathtaking your night can be. If you are looking for the perfect space, you have to check it out. You'd never know that it is there, but if you are looking for an event space then you should!

My husband, Phil, and I waited for 3 years for this wedding because of COVID. At first, it was going to be at Wedgewood Brittany Hill in CO, then it got cancelled because of COVID, then Wedgewood Carmel in CA when things started to reopen, and finally we moved it to Hofmann Ranch because my mom is struggling with complications from her double knee replacement surgeries that were postponed because of COVID and she couldn't fly to CA. The day before our wedding, Southwest cancelled Phil's best man's and his wife's flights, Phil's cousins' flights, and my friend's flights and my uncle had to drive all the way from San Diego the day before the wedding. We were beyond worried and devastated. Because of the Hofmann Ranch team, we felt so secure and so loved and our families and friends were able to meet each other for the first time and connect with each other. Britney thought of everything: making sure that my mom had a place to sit so that she could march with me halfway down the path of the patio deck, she held onto my train, she made a water color Phannie drink sign that was gorgeous, she made sure that we ate, she thought of every single detail and schedule change when our families kept talking and singing (this is what happens when you get a whole bunch of Filipinos together LOL), she made sure that Phil and I ate food, and there are countless other things that I am sure that we don't know about. Giving Britney my bouquet was the only way that I could say how grateful I was for creating a magical place and experience in spite of all the obstacles. Phil and I are so thrilled and feel like we were destined to be married at Hofmann Ranch. You have a special place in our hearts. I hope that your mother liked the bouquet. This is what giving it to you means to me.  We would like to express our love and gratitude to Britney, Sara, Chef Daniel, Mark, Joey, Josh, and the Limelight Photography team. Each of you made our day absolutely wonderful. Additionally, Cynthia's cake design and William's flowers were beautiful! I think that anyone who is getting married needs to go to Hofmann Ranch and that Britney and her team need to do their weddings! Thank you to everyone else that we communicated with at Wedgewood over the years and in the months leading up to our celebration. Creating a beautiful experience where our families and friends could meet for the first time and have fun was truly a gift. Have a wonderful New Year and thank you so much for an unforgettable experience. Each of you are a true blessing. May God bless you and your family always and may the Force be with you! With much love and gratitude, Phil and Annie #phannie2020

The experience as…read morea whole was fantastic: warm, attentive service, a beautifully restored house, and food that invites you to slow down and enjoy every bite. We started with the beet and dill salmon on crostini, which was such a fun and memorable dish. Piling everything on yourself made it interactive, almost playful, and you could make each bite as beautiful as you wanted. The flavors were bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. We ordered all of the entrées--choucroute, hanger steak, and sweet pea risotto--and every single one was delicious. That said, the risotto completely stole the show for me. Creamy and rich without being heavy, it was packed with mushrooms, sweet peas, and delicate pea shoots. The salty, umami depth from the cheese paired beautifully with little bursts of sweetness from the peas--it was honestly exceptional. Outlaw Kitchen is the kind of place where everything works together: the food, the service, and the space. It feels intentional, personal, and special without ever being pretentious. Everything was well timed, except when we were trying to get the check. All the staff seemed to be kind and professional. The patio is lovely, but I imagine it can be uncomfortable in the summer heat. Now for the food. Overall it was good. I found some components spectacular, but felt like some lacked seasoning. I was looking forward to the arancini the most. The croquet itself was crunchy and that cheese was definitely telefono style, but needed some seasoning. The pomodoro was tasty, but the basil made it fabulous. Y'all know how I feel about basil. The ravioli was filled with spinach, mushroom, and ricotta with a brown butter sage sauce. It was delicious and the portion was perfect. My favorite part though was the crunchy shitaki "bacon"and butternut squash. I would take a bowl of that in a heartbeat and would absolutely go back for a butternut squash main dish. It was perfectly roasted and full of flavor and those shitaki were amazing. The preserved lemon vinaigrette over lettuces was phenomenal. Incredible fresh flavor. Desert was chocolate torte and sour cream ice cream. The ice cream was the absolute star of the show. The sweet vanilla was incredible. I sampled the halibut and shrimp and it was perfectly cooked. I would definitely come back to try other offerings.
