I was introduced to Trippy Taco via a Yelp experience. Since I was happy with what I saw (or rather, with what I ate), I've dropped by Trippy Tacos on a few occasions to satisfy taco cravings. Overall, I cannot complain about the food, quality, service and price. Tacos will typically run $3-$4, which is a bit standard for the area, and they are loaded with plenty of fixings. Also, Trippy has daily specials for certain items on the menu. For small place, the restaurant has a pretty extensive Tex-Mex menu, so I think everyone should find something that they'll like. Although the restaurant has some seating, this place is more of a take-out spot. One tip: I highly recommend ordering before arriving to Trippy Taco, so you can simply grab and go. Unfortunately, parking is a bit limited and tight (like most places in this area). While the food, service and prices are pretty good, I'll admit that I would not go too far out of my way to visit since there are no shortage of Tex-Mex spots in the area. I am not an expert of Latin foods but this place make me feel mouth- watering. This is my first time here, I tried to order 3 flavors Tacos (Beef, Chicken, Pork) and Chicken empanadas. They were better than I expected. All looks very appetizing and smell so good. It seems really homemade style, fresh ingredients and aromatic. The chicken empanadas are surprisingly huge and you got 2 pieces for $11, that is reasonable, for me. As well as Tacos cost just about $3-4 each, it is a soft Taco with corn tortilla and flavorful seasoned filling, plus green salsa - that's perfect combination. I have not much to say about service, as it was a take out by online order but it was smoothly pick-up, everything was ready and packed nicely when I was arrived. The restaurant is quite tiny and old building at the back, but there are plenty free parking available around. Mainly for take out order but I think you can dine-in too - there are some seating table inside and outside. The Trippy Taco menu seem variety and interesting. Stopped by Trippy Tacos in Wheaton after a serious taco craving and it absolutely delivered. The lengua tacos were the standout. Tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly how they should be. The large taquitos were crispy on the outside and packed with filling, and the pupusas were comforting and satisfying. Everything tasted fresh and made with care, not rushed or generic. Just tried their food truck for the first time. DELICIOUS! Fresh homemade corn tortillas makes such a difference. The carne asada was especially flavorful. Guacamole was fresh and well prepared. Tortilla chips were solid as well. Really no complaints which is rare for me. Except that they forgot the sauce but nothing needed sauce anyway so it didn't matter. I first visited thanks to Yelp and made a return on my own. This time, I tried tacos and they were delicious! Filled with meat that wasn't dry, but well seasoned. The corn tortilla were not dry and didn't tear, just the right thickness. The person who helped me was friendly and service was quick. Language barrier so they take in-store orders from a kiosk; TELL them your order is done and your number, make sure you see them take the ticket and put it up for the chef; because somehow my order got tossed on the floor and I guess they thought I was just standing there waiting for 40 MINUTES for my entertainment... mind you everything is made fresh including taco shells, so the 5 person order I placed was now going to take another 30 minutes for my food to be ready..... After being in that place for 70 minutes they wouldn't comp me or offer any solace other than an apology. This hidden taco spot is just what I needed on a Monday evening after work. The service was good, and our food came out quickly. It's a pretty small restaurant (clean) but I did sit down and eat the trippy nachos which were absolutely amazing! So fresh and loaded full of flavor! The guacamole was so good. I loved the nachos! Additionally, we tried the chicken and steak tacos which were delicious as well, and I loved the birria ramen. That was my favorite, so much flavored packed into that ramen. Tried to order a few items at their food truck at Doc Waters Ciderery on 11/2. Waited in line for an hour and a half to order only to be told that they only took VenMo and cash. The only problem is that signal was poor. Proceeded to wait another hour for the food only to be told after a third guy showed up to restock that they missed my order. Waited another thirty minutes and was then told they lost my order and myself and a few others had to re-order. At that point my wife and I asked to get refunded and at least there was enough cash to refund us. The food looked good but if the truck couldn't keep up they should've packed it up instead of having customers waste their time. The whole experience really put me off from trying their brick and mortar. read more

Pro: restaurant beeper. Con: price, food. Was at the June 29,2024 Gaithersburg summer fest and Trippy Tacos were one of many food vendors at the location. I ordered the chicken taco and the steak nachos. The tortilla of the taco didn't test fresh and the chicken was very bland. The nacho didn't have that much cheese, the chip was kind of soggy, and too many sauces on top. The only positive is that the taco truck has a beeper to let you know when to come pick up your food. All in all, I don't know if the quality of the food here in their food truck is different from the sit down restaurant but I know I won't be eating here again in the future. I had recently stopped by Trippy Tacos to grab a quick lunch, and it didn't disappoint! Their menu is pretty extensive, offering items such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, birria, nachos, fries, pupusas, mulitas, and various sides, along with rotating/featured specials. I ordered a cheese pupusa and a medium-sized horchata (they also have a large size, too) - usually, I like my pupusas a bit more crispy and more on the 'greasier' end, but Trippy Tacos' version was pretty tasty - sure, it could have been crispier, but I felt like it was one of the 'healthier' versions of a pupusa; the filling, however, was generously stuffed with cheese, and while stuffing my face, I was trying to figure out how they were able to do this! The horchata was more on the thinner consistency, but it was still tasty and refreshing. Service here is super kind, friendly, and welcoming - the staff are very sweet! I really liked how small and intimate this place was - it was well-decorated, and there were a couple of tables and stools at the counter. Another plus was that there was a sink by the entrance where you can wash your hands before- and after your meal - so convenient! I'd love to check out their highly-rated nachos, the pupusa pizza, and their Taco Tuesday specials. Had a bomb carnitas taco and revuelta pupusa from here last week. They were both great. The pupusa wasn't served with any sauces or veggies but it was fireeee. Great find! Not only good Mexican food but excellent Peruvian food as well. I got to interact with the two ladies in the kitchen, and they were kind and professional. I saw them cooking things from scratch, and you can taste it. The lomo saltado had lots of sauce, fresh veggies, and that char flavor you get from the flame when you stir fry. The ceviche was also of outstanding quality. We look forward to returning and trying more items. I wish this place was closer to me because I really loved their Lengua tacos! [Food: 4 of 5] Lengua Tacos- 5 of 5.. I mean.. Lengua tacos are my all time favorite tacos. These meat pieces were bigger than what you would typically get at *generic taco shop* - and they were soo juicy. I loved the customer service. Julissa was super friendly and patient. We ordered a bunch of things: taco al pastor, tamal, mulita de asada, torta de asada, horchata, and the trippy fries. My husband and I had the Chicken burrito and Sopa de Res (it contained yucca, carrot, corn, cabbage leaves, three pieces of beef ribs in assorted sizes, and lots of salty, delicious broth). Waited 30 minutes for stale chips literally doused in sour cream and some weird pink sauce. The trippy tacos food truck was parked in front of the Starbucks in North Bethesda Market as the Starbucks hosted a little coffee tasting event that one of my friends told me about and we went to. I ended up ordering a chicken taco and an al pastor taco. Also a side of guacamole and a side of pico. Both of the tacos were VERY tasty. They are definitely more traditional style Mexican tacos that come with chopped onions and cilantro and come in 2 tortillas for each taco which are listed on the menu as "handmade corn." The tortillas were quite delish. My bar is a bit high for tacos... which is why this rating is put against all the other tacos I've eaten. Were they the best tacos no... but they were certainly super good. They'd make it into the top 10. It took about ten minutes to get the tacos ready and when I grabbed my box and went to go sit at the outdoor tables to eat, I realized they had forgot my guacamole and gave me sour cream instead. I'm really glad I ate it there, cause if I got home and realized they shorted me on the guac... I would have been devastated lol. There is nothing more disappointing than splurging on a side of guacamole only to find out you've been left with no guacamole. Ok... maybe there's a few other things... but you get my point. Both the pico and guac were ON point. This is a guac that if you had a spoon, you'd just want to shovel it into your mouth if it were societally acceptable. Until then... I put heaping dollops of guac on my tacos with fervor. The pico was so good... l want the recipe. Honestly, some of the best pico I've ever had. Absolutely loved it here! I've lived in this area almost my entire life and never ate at this shopping center even though I always passed by. The food was amazing!!! Steak was fine, nothing to write home about but it was cooked well and again, was not dried out. Carnitas again it was good, no complaints. I had the Al pastor the last time I went and it was just meh. All in all, chicken has been my favorite, I'll try the others another day. Pretty bland review, so why is it 5 stars? Easy, the freshly made tortillas. I generally do not like most corn tortillas, they usually end up crumbly, I know it'll be at places that use packaged tortillas, but man the tortilla is so important. The ones they make here are probably double the thickness of most other places, but they still hold their shape and moisture, and such a good corn flavor. Oh yeah, their nachos are great. I stopped by to get a torta al Pastor. The meat was juicy and tasty and the bread was soft with a crunch inside from being toaster. The only thing was that the lettuce was too big for the buns, once I took a bite then the whole torta had opened up. The ladies who served me were attentive and polite. We've been to Trippy Tacos twice now and will definitely be back. Our first visit we ordered two chicken tacos and a quesadilla. Everything was delicious. The quesadilla was huge and we got two lunches out of it. But it was the tacos that really caught our attention. The tortillas were awesome and did not fall apart. They held up to the filling. Our second trip back we ordered two chicken tacos and two chicken tacos with cheese. I honestly didn't really notice the cheese so would probably just skip it next time. The restaurant seems geared more to carry out than eat-in. There is a counter with some stools but no tables or booths. It's clean and the staff are extremely pleasant and efficient. The restaurant is kind of tucked away next to Seafood in the Buff in what I believe used to be a pizza place. I'm really happy to have found Trippy Tacos and can't wait to go back. Small taco spot in silver spring - We came in on a weekday evening and they had a line inside. There is a small bar where a few people can sit to eat, but no tables so plan on take out most likely. They only had a couple of people working, and these ladies were working very hard to get everyone's order out. We had called ahead for an order of 3 chicken tacos, and they started making our order as soon as we got to the front of the line. These are not the best tacos I've had in this area, but they are also not the worst. Definitely towards the bottom though. The chicken, although it didn't look seasoned at all, had flavor. The salsas were very good and very hot. This place is definitely hidden -- shout out to my excellent search skills that helped me discover it! They have digital screens that show the menus, and their prices are awesome! They have a sign on the register that indicates them winning a local award for the BEST nachos -- their Trippy Nachos! They're known for their Trippy sauce, which is a house recipe that goes on their nachos and many other offerings. So, I decided I would try that and some of their tacos. I got my tray of Trippy Nachos... outstanding. Lots and lots of sauce, and very few chips were left dry! It was also just a ton of food period, so it was two portions for me. SO not to be greedy...
