I first visited thanks to Yelp and made a return on my own. This time, I tried tacos and they were delicious! Filled with meat that wasn't dry, but well seasoned. The corn tortilla were not dry and didn't tear, just the right thickness. The person who helped me was friendly and service was quick. I'll definitely be returning and recommending this place.

I was first introduced to this business through Yelp a few years ago, and I've returned several times for official Yelp events and on my own. I'm just now writing a review! Better late than never. The service is always great! The food is very authentic and so delicious. This is where I got "put onto" pupusas! Today I stopped by for "Taco Tuesday." I got two chicken tacos ($2.50 each) and two steak tacos ($2.99 each). I didn't have to wait too long. The space inside isn't huge but there's a couple seats. In the warmer months, there's outside seating! Check out Trippy's if you haven't yet! You won't regret it!

Forgot to picture the rest of my food but this food is just ok! The al pastor and carnitas were way more salty than I would've liked and could not really enjoy it because of that. The portions of the burrito and tacos were reasonable, but $12.49 for a burrito I would've enjoyed fresher ingredients. The hibiscus drink was refreshing. The service was nice and the employees were friendly.

This hidden taco spot is just what I needed on a Monday evening after work. The service was good, and our food came out quickly. It's a pretty small restaurant (clean) but I did sit down and eat the trippy nachos which were absolutely amazing! So fresh and loaded full of flavor! The guacamole was so good. I loved the nachos! Additionally, we tried the chicken and steak tacos which were delicious as well, and I loved the birria ramen. That was my favorite, so much flavored packed into that ramen. Definitely the best Birria ramen I've had to date and a must try!! I will most certainly be back because this food was so good. I'm a taco girl so I'm so happy I found another authentic taco place.

Pro: restaurant beeper. Con: price, food. Was at the June 29,2024 Gaithersburg summer fest and Trippy Tacos were one of many food vendors at the location. I ordered the chicken taco and the steak nachos. The tortilla of the taco didn't test fresh and the chicken was very bland. The nacho didn't have that much cheese, the chip was kind of soggy, and too many sauces on top. The only positive is that the taco truck has a beeper to let you know when to come pick up your food. All in all, I don't know if the quality of the food here in their food truck is different from the sit down restaurant but I know I won't be eating here again in the future. The only thing "trippy" about this establishment is the price of the foods and the subpar taste.

I had recently stopped by Trippy Tacos to grab a quick lunch, and it didn't disappoint! Their menu is pretty extensive, offering items such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, birria, nachos, fries, pupusas, mulitas, and various sides, along with rotating/featured specials. I ordered a cheese pupusa and a medium-sized horchata (they also have a large size, too) - usually, I like my pupusas a bit more crispy and more on the 'greasier' end, but Trippy Tacos' version was pretty tasty - sure, it could have been crispier, but I felt like it was one of the 'healthier' versions of a pupusa; the filling, however, was generously stuffed with cheese, and while stuffing my face, I was trying to figure out how they were able to do this! The horchata was more on the thinner consistency, but it was still tasty and refreshing. Service here is super kind, friendly, and welcoming - the staff are very sweet! I really liked how small and intimate this place was - it was well-decorated, and there were a couple of tables and stools at the counter. Another plus was that there was a sink by the entrance where you can wash your hands before- and after your meal - so convenient! I'd love to check out their highly-rated nachos, the pupusa pizza, and their Taco Tuesday specials. Plenty of parking in the lot. +cheesy pupusas! +friendly & kind staff! +ample parking in the lot

Great find! Not only good Mexican food but excellent Peruvian food as well. I got to interact with the two ladies in the kitchen, and they were kind and professional. I saw them cooking things from scratch, and you can taste it. The lomo saltado had lots of sauce, fresh veggies, and that char flavor you get from the flame when you stir fry. The ceviche was also of outstanding quality. We look forward to returning and trying more items. I'm hoping they have more agua fresca flavors if others taste like the horchata and tamarindo.. boy oh boy, I'm in trouble!

So glad i was able to try a new taco spot. I got the trippy fries and the birria ramen for my partner. He said he'd get the ramen again and that it reminded him of chili from Kentucky. There were lots of fries for $15. I'll try it again :).

I wish this place was closer to me because I really loved their Lengua tacos! [Food: 4 of 5] Lengua Tacos- 5 of 5.. I mean.. Lengua tacos are my all time favorite tacos. These meat pieces were bigger than what you would typically get at *generic taco shop* - and they were soo juicy. I ordered 2 tacos that came out to a little over $7, to me, that's definitely worth it. Al Pastor Tacos - 1 of 5 - I really did not enjoy this taco at all. And..that's all I'll say about that. Carne Asada con queso - 5 of 5- I have never had flour tortilla tacos served with cheese! I honestly was taken aback when they asked if I wanted this with cheese or not. Eaten fresh, it's super toasty with the cheese melting and oozing. Even when we let the taco sit there for awhile and cheese had hardened, it still tasted so good. Pupusas con friojles y queso- 5 of 5 - The pupusas was nice and hot- The pupusa was over filled with beans (not that I'm complaining) - I wish the sauces given were spicy or had a kick (I love spicy). The pickled vegetables for the pupusas were fresh and tangy, paired very will with thier pupusa. Drinks: I did not get their frescas but they offered tamarind, horchata and... one more flavor but I can't remember. They had a large variety of sodas in their cooler, including Pepsi Zero products which I thought were awesome. [Service: 5 of 5] The person who helped us at the register was so friendly and helpful. He let us know about the Taco Tuesday deals and offered ice to us with our soda since it wasn't cold. [Ambiance: 3.5 of 5?] The place was very small, like maybe it was a mom and pop shop? It was just the kitchen and then 1 small table for 2 and a bar along the window with some stools. The place did not have a public bathroom (which kind of sucked for me, because I drove over an hour to come here and reeally needed to use it). There was no music playing when I went, so it was kind of nice just listening to the hussle and bussle of the stoves, and the chitter chatter of the guests at the restaurants. I hope to one day venture out to this part of MD again so that I could try "the best nachos in MD" and to get some more lengua tacos!

We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.

First, it's hidden and you could very well miss it with everything going on around the location like parked work trucks, trees and bushes. There is however lots of street parking and garage parking nearby. When I walked in, the place was completely empty but the employee working was friendly and quick to greet me and instructed me to the wall with screens to order. The menu is limited in my opinion, so I ordered the American Way tacos with chicken that only comes with cheese, lettuce and sour cream on the side. I added tomatoes for a $1 up charge and their taco salsa for another $1.50 up charge and they come 3 to an order. I also got a Jarritos fruit punch and my order came to a total of $19.60. While the dining area and bar is cute, I was quite disappointed with my food unfortunately. The chicken was flavorless and cold and given the price point, was absolutely not worth it. I would've been better off going elsewhere to get better tasting food for a fraction of the cost of the sub par tacos I had today. Perhaps I made a bad menu choice but I will not be going back.

Although we ordered a dessert, the dessert did not arrive with our order. Upon realizing the missing dessert, I called the restaurant to inquire why the dessert was not included in the delivery. The person who answered the phone told me that the dessert was not included because they did not have the ingredients to make it. Ok, I understand that happens from time to time. However, I did not really understand why the restaurant could not have called me to inform me that they could not supply the dessert. When this has happened in past with other restaurants, they usually ask if you would like a refund or another similarly-priced item. Fortunately, it was not a problem to get a refund from Grubhub. The packaging was a mess. We ordered eight tacos, which were delicious, but they jammed them all into one container. By the time, the food arrived the tortillas were pretty stuck to each other. I thought the restaurant skimped on the portion size for the chips and salsa portions, which made the sideway overpriced for $9.

The staff were very kind and asked if the first to arrive wanted to wait for others, and yes... yes we did. Once everyone arrived we dove right in and everyone enjoyed everything. We had every type of sangria and some of the highlighted foods were the mejillones, platanos, empanadas, pancakes -- on wait, let me speak on the pancakes for a second. A few times when I previously came they weren't sweet potato. I forget what the reason was, but while they and the syrup were still fantastic, I really missed the sweet potato element. But that's back now, and all is right with the world YAY! The eggs benedicts, patatas bravas, datiles, French toast, and huevos rancheros were highlights too. I think it's new, but they have a note that indicates there will be a charge for excess leftover food. I wonder when they added that?? We did an excellent job of eating literally everything, and everyone was satisfied at the end. The staff did an excellent job of checking in on us, gave us plenty of time for last call, and were so diligent. Mind you it wasn't crowded... but listen, it needs to be. I believe even the owner came by asking how everything was, and wished us well on our way out. It's been around a long time... if you haven't been to La Malinche yet, do yourself a favor and go. They have happy hour on weekdays, but the bottomless brunch... it's $41/pp now. Higher than ever, but still the best deal around.
