My left eye has been extremely itchy and swollen for the past few days, so I decided to call Trojan Eye Center Optometry for same-day appointment. Staff on the phone was so nice and friendly, and even texted me with the insurance copay info. I felt very welcomed and at ease upon arrival. Dr. Cheung is so easy to talk to. Never once did I feel rushed, awkward, or uncomfortable. He took the time to get to know me as a new patient and answered any questions that I had about my eye. We even shared our experiences as USC students from back in the day. I was then given a prescription for eye drops and I was on my merry way to the CVS next door. Booking appointment: I booked an appointment in which I was seen promptly upon arrival. Which of course sometimes things don't go as planned but at this office it did not appear to be over booked considering the patients time as well. 2. Eye exam: Dr. Cheung was friendly and informative while conducting my exam. 3. Choosing Glasses: When choosing my frames the staff was friendly, patient, helpful, and thorough. They provided me the details when it came to differences such as UV protection, refraction, the quality of frames, and more. 4. Final product: I received my glasses in less than a week. Although I was given a two week parameter to expect my glasses they were ready early. I know this may not always be the case because it is according to the lens company as well but even upon arrival everything was prepared in a bag for me. 5. Satisfaction guaranteed: upon arrival the staff made sure that I was satisfied having me try on each of my glasses before leaving. This is appreciated since knowing me I would have just got my bag and left since we can all be in a rush at times. It was important to them that each pair came out as expected. I went for a comprehensive eye exam after 9 years. The, so called, doctor just gave me my eye glass number in 5 mins after trying a couple lenses, then tried to sell me cheap frames at bloated prices. When asked about a comprehensive exam he said that I didn't need it. Though they charged my insurance for the eye exam, I feel cheated. Such a vision test, I could've got for free where I bought my pair of glasses. As others have pointed out, they'll charm you like a witch, but once you've paid, the spell breaks. read more

I visited Dr. Cheung's office a month ago. The staff and Dr. Cheung were polite but brief in their interactions. I was diagnosed with astigmatism, which was a surprise as I've never been told about it in over 20 years of wearing glasses/contacts. Initially, I received astigmatism trial contacts, but they were uncomfortably slippery. I found this odd and called the office. Dr. Cheung eventually updated my prescription to non-astigmatism contacts, but it took a whole month to receive my contacts (I received them today). I was told orders don't take more than a few days. I think the office dropped the ball on my order. Moreover, I was informed that the astigmatism contacts would only cost me an additional $30 more than non-astigmatism contacts, but my refund today totaled a $140 difference. All this to say is that optometrist offices take advantage of information asymmetry and may try to upcode to get more money out of you. This whole experience left me feeling like I may have been taken advantage of financially. After some online research, I found significantly cheaper options. I suggest just getting your prescription and ordering online instead. read more

Best of the best!! I've been to several eye doctors, including ophthalmologists, and they could never get my contact lens Rx right, until my friend referred me to Dr Cheung. Not only did Dr C dial in my contact lens Rx right, him and his staff went out of their way to explain things to me. I couldn't be happier!! The office charged me for follow up exam after an issue switching from glasses to contacts. Waited two months to see if my eyes would adjust after consistently experiencing blurry vision. Was told that the policy is 30 days. Because this took place during the holidays and with their inconvenient and limited hours, I was told I'd have to pay $60 once again, the charge of my original co-pay. For my next eye exam, I will seek an optometrists that cares for their patients health and has the integrity to correct issues without ripping off patients. read more

I just came back from my eye exam and I am glad I came to the Trojan Eye Center Optometry. Erick, the guy who answered all my questions over the phone and was the main guy at the front desk was very professional. I was then taken back to get my eye examined for glasses and I have to say Dr. Cheung was so sweet. He was easy to talk to and just an overall wonderful Optometrist. He answered all my questions that I had and the exam itself went pretty quickly. I think it really helps when people are friendly and I completely felt that way with Dr. Cheung. Overall this location is very safe and clean. They sanitized the stations very well especially during this time of the pandemic. Oh and one last thing, they were able to squeeze me in today. I called early morning and Erick mentioned setting an appointment for Saturday but today was the only day I could this week and they were able to have me come in today. Very thankful they were able to see me last minute. I highly recommend getting your eye exams and contacts here. I did not get glasses only because I already have my heart set on a pair prior to coming here. But that might change in the future... Thank you Erick and Dr. Cheung for helping me out today. I went in for an eye exam covered by insurance, when I requested to buy colored eye contacts they said they would need to charge an additional 70 dollars for prescription on top of 400 for the contacts. I mentioned that my previous Optometrists wouldn't charge me an additional 70 dollars since I was already being examined and the contacts are colored not reading contacts. The "care provider" started using profanity and said " I don't care I'm not going to risk my license for some stupid shit" and said "THE LAST OPTOMETRIST DIDN'T CARE BECAUSE HE WAS OLD AND HIS DAYS WERE COUNTED FOR". To add, they later said they can't put new lenses in a frame if it's not being purchased from them even if my current frame was purchased from them last year. (800 dollar frames). Just finished up my appointment. Love Dr. Cheung and his staff! They're very friendly. They all took the time to answer all of my (trivial) questions and created a welcoming environment. It totally helped that they were playing Christmas music, too. Also, I didn't catch the employee's name but she was so helpful in explaining all of the confusing insurance stuff to me. Notes: 1. They keep the doors locked, and you have to knock for them to let you in. They also keep all of the equipment sanitized; I was informed of this, and I could smell the disinfectant (not a bad thing!). 2. I parked in the Gateway parking structure, accessible from the small alleyway behind the building. Make sure to get your parking ticket validated! I went here two years ago to visit doctor Kravitz and got my first pair of contact lenses. I used to wear glasses and have an issue of getting dizziness and fatigue very often, went to many doctors they couldn't figure out why. Dr Kravitz was the one that offered me to wear contacts. I tried calling but nobody picked up so I just made an appointment on their website which was convenient. I made it a week in advance but got a text message 2 days before my appointment for the wrong time. So I called and the receptionist said that they didn't have any openings at first but luckily was able to schedule me at 9:15 am. Parked in the CVS parking structure (free validation) and knocked on their door. Initial greeting from staff was not too welcoming and it was really hot in there. Filled out paperwork in 5 minutes and wait time in total was about 40 minutes. Their glasses selection is very limited. Regardless, I opted to get both the glasses exam and contact fitting since I was due. Contact exam was $95. Dr. Cheung was very nice and informative. After the exams, he provided a pair of lenses with my new prescription and let me know that the left contact lens was slightly different than my actual prescription. I began experiencing slight discomfort and blurry vision but I brushed it off and assumed I just needed to adjust to my new prescription. It didn't get better, so on Monday I tried calling but nobody picked up again. I emailed them instead and asked about the difference in prescription. I got a response back the next day saying they will ask & get back to me. They never got back to me. I was planning to come back in a few weeks as they are getting in new frames but I don't think I'll be back :/ read more

I was a Patient for years .. had a few eye exams .. and used my VSP INSURANCE THERE.. one time told by Eric that I had even earned a free pair of glasses.. I went back a few months ago to make a appointment and was told by Eric basically that my business was not wanted because I didn't appreciate the free glasses that my insurance PAID FOR..his behavior was quite scary . I WENT there a few weeks ago .. It had been 6 mos since that weird experience with Eric. He was not there.. I had a pleasant exchange with a young lady told her I wanted a eye exam,, didn't see any glasses I liked .. but told her I wanted the exam.. I made A appt a week away .. I received a call saying they felt it would be better if I went elsewhere since I didn't want to BUY ANY GLASSES.. I told her heck I'm a woman .. I might see some something new that I'm liked.. she saID THEY FELT IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR ME TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.. I saved the Voice mail.. of there call to me asking me to call BACK . I've been a patient of Dr. Kravtiz for more than 8-years. There are now other medical staff seeing patients so he is rarely in the office.
