Nick and Juliet's home is in a charming Portland neighborhood lined with beautiful chestnut trees. Now, the zombies crouch and the small businesses are gone. We moved on to the Alphabet district and found the charming pubs, restaurants, shops and businesses I had come to see. The best store is Paxton Gate--treasures and oddities. A wonderful restaurant is Fireside. So relieved that there's a sign of life after all the troubles. It's worth defending, Portlandia.

From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by interesting items that catches your attention. The first floor is more like a workshop with few things you can purchase, like really cool looking postcards. The second floor is where you will gasp over and over again. Staff was chill and friendly, and the whole place feels like it doesn't take itself too seriously. Peacock Lane reminded me why the holidays used to feel magical…read more The last few years have been weary since COVID, and it's easy to forget what community actually feels like. Walking Peacock Lane this season brought that feeling rushing back. Neighbors, families, couples, kids, all moving slowly side by side, bundled up, sharing space, sharing smiles, sharing the moment. House after house was lit beautifully, each one with its own personality. My favorite this year was the Home Alone house, playful, nostalgic, and impossible not to smile at. But what made the night truly special was hearing live music from neighbors, joining in caroling with complete strangers, watching families take photos in front of glowing homes, and realizing how rare and meaningful that kind of togetherness feels now. Peacock Lane is a reminder of what the season is supposed to be about. I left feeling happier and genuinely grateful. If you need a reason to believe in the holiday spirit again, this is it.

In 1923, a couple drove to Indiana with their shepherd and Scotch collie mix and became separated. They returned home to Silverton several weeks later heartbroken. Six months later, the dog appeared much worse for wear on their doorstep and the legend was born. In honor of Bobbie's journey, the City of Silverton proudly displays a mural in the center of town describing the journey. There is also a statue of Bobbie in front of his dog house. The city even has an annual pet parade on February 15th, the day that Bobbie returned home. When you think about the love, loyalty and perseverance that powered Bobbie's journey, you can't help but smile. --------------- Bobbie is probably Silverton's favorite son. At several local stores you can pick up a book about his journey. The pet store in town, Petcetera, even has a board game.

Monroe's place has been repainted since filming, so it looks a bit different now, but it was still so fun to see it in person and snap a photo of our little one in front of it. My husband even recognized the wooded park area where Nick ran through to get to Monroe's house. Such a cool experience for Grimm fans.

The temperature in the back area was cold, compared to the main entrance which appeared to be warmer. If you know the significance of cold rooms regarding paranormal activity, you know what I'm talking about. There were a lot of interesting displays and fun things to read. The place was not very big, but I still had a good time. The staff was great, the selection was as on pint and the value of place was legit. Check it out if you are into paranormal activity.

The traveling exhibit of a giant horned troll in the closet, gave me pause (especially nice touch to have the child drawings on the wall). Fun workers, crazy stuff in the gift shoppe.
