I went to the Trolley Stop Inn yesterday Thursday, November 6, 2025, for an event supporting the South Hills Women's Club. The establishment was gracious to accommodate us since my wife was working in Monroeville and got to the event at 7pm. We were able to still order under the event. THANK YOU! The food was EXCELLENT and Fresh. The ingredients were spot on. Did order Appetizers, Soup, Sandwich and Calzone. If you like Cheeseburgers recommend the Cheeseburger Soup. Also, recommend the STEAK Calzone it will feed 2 - 3 people and every bite has steak thru out. Finally, the ambiance of the restaurant was Excellent from Hostess to Waitress. The food was delivered quickly, and when they forgot the waters, they actually drove back with them not long after, which I did appreciate. Unfortunately though, the wings were what disappointed me. They were extremely small, hard, dry, and chewy in a way that just was not what you expect when you hear the word "wings." The person I was eating with kept insisting the wings are not usually like that and said they were big and juicy the last time, although apparently less crispy, so there definitely appears to be inconsistency with them. We still liked the crispy skin and finished them, but overall they honestly felt more like crunchy chicken chips than actual wings. I have just never had wings that small and hard before, or with such little meat. Maybe it was a fluke, but based on what we got, I personally would not have been comfortable serving wings like that if I owned a restaurant. The pizza was not bad however. The crust was easily my favorite part as I loved how it was fluffy and chewy at the same time. While I also enjoyed the subtle garlic Alfredo type and Italian type flavorings adding a little acid or bitter to balance out the fat or the subtle sweetness to the cheese would have helped. I also found myself wanting a thicker, less oily, more intense cheese flavor, more fresh herbs, and a stronger garlic flavor. Overall, while I enjoyed the texture of the crust for the pizzas, which made even better leftovers, and also enjoyed the hoagie, the very hard and very small amount of meat in the wings lead to a lower rating in this review. read more

I ordered a steak Quasedia to go. I ordered halupaio ranch sauce and was given sour cream instead. I should have checked the order better. The worst part about it is there was 2 plastic pieces in my food. It looked like it was from a plastic peice for bread. It used to be good years ago, but has gone down hill. Trolley Stop Inn has become a family dinner favorite. Between their lovely rear patio and spacious interior we've never had to wait to be seated, and staff has consistently been friendly and accommodating no matter our party's size. The menu is expansive and the kid's menu has lots of good choices - the spaghetti with meatballs being my daughter's favorite. Though the Sunday brunch was delicious, it's a little pricy for us, so we'll stick to lunch and dinner visits. read more

I was looking for a breakfast joint on a Sunday and came across the buffet here so lets give it a try. I started with scrambled eggs, bacon, full sausage patties and a nice piece of ham. Now lets add a waffle which had a sugary candy crunch and a very thick (too thick) potatoe pancake with sausage gravy. There also was a fella making omelets. The food was very good and the coffee was amazing. The service was terrific & so friendly in the bar area. The baseball team there was very noisy and quute frankly obnoxious with very little supervision. The pricing for the offering was obnoxious as the final bill was $49.50 which probably explains why nobody else was at the buffet. read more

Very disappointed in our recent visit. The appetizers we ordered came with our dinner. We of course wanted them before dinner. They also forgot my daughter's meal and so she had to wait another 15min to get her food. Overall the service was slow and the prices are high for what you are getting. read more

First time trying this long-standing place and was surprised and disappointed. The interior is dark, brown, and outdated. As South Hills dining has become more modern and competitive, Trolley Stop has been left in the 1950s. The basic mediocre food was ridiculously overpriced. A plain unadorned hotdog on a bun at $10?! Burgers were basic and flavorless. Very few diners were there. Our bill for 4 people was the same it would have been eating at a much better restaurant. The prices and food match so well! Everything came out hot and ready to eat, good meals on days you don't wanna cook. Although we did go on a busy Friday evening, we got seated and asked what drinks. It did take around 20-30 mins for food to come out so I would say if you're going on the weekends be ready to wait. The place is loud with the sports playing and people conversations around you. The parking lot is tight in front and back. I would recommend the Buffalo chicken wrap! read more

I have been here twice so far, and both times were pleasingly delicious. I love the wedding soup, it's soooo good! The Pasta Diablo is absolutely yummy, has a good kick and will satisfy the hungry appetite! The second visit, I had the fish sandwich and oh man, was it a delight. If you are looking for a great spot for sandwiches, pizza and subs, Trolley Stop Inn is the place to go. It's a local favorite pub and pizzeria with a trolley car feel and my dad's favorite sandwich stop. There are lots of selections to choose from and great service. The one downside is that there are no real options for the gluten sensitive like me, or worse, those who are celiac. Yes, you can get a salad, yes you can go bunless, but why is that the only option? I just don't get why such a popular restaurant doesn't have a bag of gluten-free buns or bread handy. So I cringe when going to Trolley Stop, looking at the delicious sandwiches and wish I could have one. read more

Over the years the prices have gone up and the portions seemed to have shrunk, i.e. about $8 for a hotdog. The pizza is good and despite smaller portions, the meals are still filling. The food is just not keeping up with the prices. If you plan to go, bring cash. Otherwise you'll pay a 3% fee to use a credit card. read more

We've eaten here twice in person and ordered takeout several times. The food has always been great (Reuben, Rachel, pizza, steak calzone, chicken tenders, chicken salad wrap, my son loved the burger). Service was great and food was ready quickly/on time. I have been here multiple times and the food is always decent and the service is good! Prices are also pretty reasonable. The most recent time I went, I got the bacon chicken ranch wrap. The flavor was delicious and it was served hot, but it was soggy from the ranch and grease so it kind of fell apart when I tried to eat it. Even still, I will definitely be back! read more

I read so many good reviews. I really, really wanted to enjoy this spaghetti dinner. But the meatballs had a taste and texture suggesting they were 90% bread and 10% meat. The red sauce was acceptable. The spaghetti itself was overcooked. The tossed salad was fresh and tasty And the salad dressing was excellent. The whole experience was not worth $20. read more

We frequent this restaurant and absolutely love it! They have both inside and outside (heated in winter) seating. Stopped by for the first time for lunch on a Steelers football Sunday. The place was packed with enthusiastic fans. We didn't sit at the bar but could hear the excitement from the dinning area. Gotta love it! Anyways to the food. I got the meatball casserole with Italian bread and really enjoyed it. It was cooked just right and was very flavorful. My boyfriend got the sausage pepperoni pizza with peppers and ate the whole thing. I'd say he liked it lol we both got the wings to share they were okay just not the best. It was late and the Trolley stop inn was the only thing open for take out so I gave in. I ordered a pizza and a steak hoagie for takeout. Went to go pick it up 25 min later and they never even made it. The old lady with long straight hair that works the takeout was the one that took the order over the phone and waited on me when I went to pick it up. You might as while get Tyson nuggets instead of the boneless wings, the bone in are pink in the middle. The cooks obviously do not care, nothing was compensated, I feel as if the service acts as if the check is bigger than the tip will be too. I would never not work with customers (as a server) to make sure they're satisfied, and I also wouldn't go above and beyond to charging them for something they would put under dog food. read more
