I went to the Cortland location on Monday Dec 29th for the car inspection for the insurance company. The "SNARKY" guy behind the counter told me he could not do it as he had no one to help him behind the counter and to come back another day. So I went back on Wed Dec 31st. Same snarky guy behind the counter, told me he didn't know why the insurance companies do this as I could do it myself! A nice young man came out to take care of this and did a great job, I give him 5 stars. The so- called big guy behind the desk needs customer service skills badly. If you need a vehicle inspection sticker without the inconvenience of an actual inspection, ask for Roni to do it. But be careful, he may or may not throw a jug of antifreeze at you. And if he does, Herb Shannon, JW Wadsworth, and Larry Olevnik will bully you into thinking it was your fault. My daughter just brought her vehicle to the Cortland location for an inspection. I just wanted to thank the staff there for being decent and trustworthy! She took her vehicle recently to Goodyear in Ithaca and they didn't pass her vehicle and told her that her parking brake was "sticking". My husband called and asked them how much it would cost to fix it and inspect her vehicle. They said it would be $64. So when she went back to have it done, they told her it would be $700!!! These guys are the best. I came in after I unfortunately purchased tires from Walmart. Driving home when my car reached @50/ mph the steering wheel starts shaking like crazy. I didn't feel like going back as I waited @ 2 hrs and I was tired. The next morning I get to my car and the drivers front tire is completely flat, so I slowly drive to Rite Aid get fix-a-flat and try to make it to a station for air because it still was flat. I go back to Walmart and tell them what happened and complain that I should not have to put fix-a-flat in a brand new tire the very next morning. They took the car in and checked the tire and rebalanced it. They found no nails or anything that had punctured the tire. It simply had not been sealed properly. My fix-a-flat did the trick. Thank goodness for my $14 fix-a-flat purchase. I drive away and yet the same thing happens, Steering wheel shaking like crazy, I'm done. Bring it back and they say it is probably the calipers. I go to Trombley Tire & Auto who are my regular mechanics, but they had been so busy and I had to wait 2 weeks for tires. They are able to see me and the tires were simply not balanced. They took out the fix-a-flat sealant and properly balanced my tires. Simple balancing and sealant. These guys are the best, they know what they are doing at a very fair price. I go to Trombley in Ithaca where I work and Trombley in Cortland when home. Both shops are fantastic. read more

Couldn't be more grateful for Larry and his team of mechanics. Stuck 200+ miles from home with a blinking check engine light and loss of acceleration power on the eve of Christmas Eve we rode our car smoking under the hood a stretch of 15 miles just for Larry to squeeze us in so we could make it home for the rest of our ride in time for Christmas. Rush ordered a part for us, put 2 hours of work into the car and tested out the car to highway speeds for us before we took off... even went to the extent to tell us to call them once when reached the end of journey home as this was in the face of an oncoming blizzard. I truly believe the people at Trombley were our Christmas gift this year, they understood the severity of the situation and went the extra mile for us, with fair prices, keeping things blunt (no price gouging or selling services that weren't necessary) and were so kind. We really are lucky to have stumbled upon Trombley in our time of need. If we lived closer they'd be our new mechanics, thank you again guys!! read more

My wife had her summer tires installed(well, maybe not) yesterday. She left Trombley and drove less than one mile when her driver's side rear tire FELL OFF as she was driving. The tire itself could have seriously hurt someone, let alone the truck losing control on a busy road. She immediately called them, and two stunods show up and haven't a clue what to do. The brake and the hub were shot from dragging on the road for 100 yards and they said it would be towed and left. The police showed up (nice officer) and we waited, and waited and waited. Finally the officer went to their shop(about 1/2 mile away) and he ended up calling for a tow. After another hour(the truck is in traffic ) the tow truck shows up. The "Ass't Mgr" said Trombley would pay for the tow and all repairs....guess what....we had to pay for the tow because no one at the store had a credit card. So now we wait to be reimbursed. The truck had her winter tires on rims in the box($2000) and these clowns were going to leave them there until Monday for a thief to have a nice parley ...brilliant! A side note...while we waited for the tow, a car pulled up and told us the same thing happened to her, and a friend who saw us called me and he too said this happened to one of his associates. Complete incompetence! So now we have to get a rental(getting reimbursed will be fun, I'm sure) as well as the major inconvenience. HOW HARD IS IT TO TIGHTEN 6 LUG NUTS! Do yourself a favor, find another location for tire service if you care about your family member's safety. We are fortunate this didn't happen while driving at 55-65mph...could have been tragic. read more
