This salon will do anything to take your money and run. The management of the salon is extremely unprofessional. FYI - your tanning package expires in 30 days without them telling you. This happened to me the first time I bought a package, it expired and I walked away noting next time I will use my tans before 30 days. I have bought a few packages since then. The last time I bought a package was in March 2020, I used 3/6 tanning sessions- then COVID hit and they had to close. When they reopened, I called and left a voicemail asking when my membership would expire. Nobody called me back for a couple weeks. I went into the salon and asked when my package expired - the girl said August 28th. I immediately put it in my calendar to use my tans before then. I went into the salon on August 14th and the girl working told me I had NOTHING on my account. I explained her the situation and she said someone would get back to me. 1.5 weeks later - nothing. So I call again and leave a voicemail. Nothing. I find their email on FB and email them. Finally I get someone to call me - after chasing around for 2 weeks - and her solution was that they could give me back one out of two sessions I did not get to use. I kindly asked if they could give back both sessions that I paid for and I heard nothing back. I emailed them a few more times, went into the salon to follow up, and still nothing back. The management continuously ignored me. This salon is NOT cheap. The price you pay is for a professional experience and Tropi Tan does not give professional quality. The employee made a mistake, like humans do, and Tropi Tan refused to give me (a long time client) back what I paid for. I do not recommend tanning here because Tropi Tan is not a customer driven establishment. read more

I have gone to both Jenison and Cascade locations and have been a faithful customer for 11 years, never skipped a month and tan usually 3 times a week. Im located right between the two, so I tend to get to both every week. I am so over going out of my way for them to be closed during normal hours. Again today, 6pm and no ones there, same thing early Sunday. In the last month I bet I've gone to tan 6 to 8 times and they arent open. I have been unable to tan more than I have been able to. Seriously looking for what else is out there. read more

Located close to my home , so I decided to give it a try...staff was very helpful...knowledgeable...and all with a smile.. place is large and had many beds and stand up booths..many different packages and options... very clean...the only issue I have is not this location.. is corporate... because the salons are franchises they don't honor the coupon on yelp... I asked to extend my paid for sessions because I was going out of town and was told that I could extend them for one week. When I went back they told me that they wouldn't honor what I was originally told because it was a promotional deal, they did not apologize, offer me any refund or do anything to make up for their mistake. I've been going to tropitan on and off for at least 12 years because I was always so pleased with the results(specifically of the level-5 tanning bed, although I have tried every bed at the location). I brought at least 10-15 new customers throughout this time but never received any rewards or perks, as advertised. Unfortunately, a little while back I went in and purchased multiple level-5 tanning sessions, which btw are pretty pricey but I didn't mind because I don't mind paying for good, quality services/results. Sadly, my last few times at tropitan were anything but the good experience & results I came to expect from them. The level 5 bed was my favorite because it had cool mist you could spray while tanning to make it more enjoyable, along with aromatherapy & 4-minute facial after bronzer, which always gave me the best & fastest tanning results. However, the last few times I went after purchasing multiple level-5 sessions none of those features worked at all. I informed multiple employees, until finally one of them wrote a manager and said they would get back to me, but I got no response. The last time I went in there to use my last session to avoid it expiring, I asked if there was an update and all I was told was "the management said that those features on the bed just don't work anymore," which I found extremely unprofessional and upsetting, especially since the only reason I didn't mind paying $20-$25 per tanning session in that bed was for the features and results I was no longer getting. I felt like my money was wasted, I was treated very unfairly and haven't been back since. read more

I really wanted to like this salon as they have good prices, good beds, and it's close to work and home for me. However, the young blonde employee that works Sunday and Monday evening NEVER wears her masks. It's just not even on her face. There's a sign on the door saying customers need to wear the masks but the employees never do? Like I said, I wanted to like the salon and support it. This salon has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. This evening, I walked in to use a session that I purchased in February of this year. I was informed that the package expired on April 7 so I would need to purchase another session. I had unused sessions that I had paid for on my account. The young lady said it was corporate policy. I was also informed I could not get the name of the manager or the manager's contact information. Instead, they gave me a generic email address. So, basically they took my money without return of service. I would like the sessions to be added to my account or be reimbursed for the unused sessions. Very close to my home and where l shop. Staff are always nice, informative and professional. Tanning beds are always clean and well kept, as is the women's bathroom. Decent pricing, comparable to other salons. Variety of options, traditional beds, stand ups, spray tanning. They have a lot of lotions and eye wear for purchase. Lots of tanning rooms, at least 19-20 beds/booths. I never have to wait. Highly recommend. I don't use facebook, but when l googled the place it mentioned a special and referred the reader to their FB page so l was able to get a nice deal. read more

I went in this weekend to get a spray tan for the first time. I did some research to make sure that I got the best experience possible (clean skin, no lotions, wear loose fitting clothing, etc). The young lady at the front desk went over everything for me. She was extremely nice, professional, and thorough. She made me feel welcomed and at ease. Time for the tan. It was exactly what I expected and rather quick. I got out of the booth, looked in the mirror, and the tanning solution was running down my stomach, creating some very noticeable patches. I asked the young lady (sorry that I forgot your name) if that was normal and showed her my stomach. She immediately got the spray tan technician (which you can pay extra for) to re-do my spray tan at no cost to me. Like the first, this young lady was super nice and professional. When you can make someone standing in the underwear with a botched spray tan feel good, then you are doing something right! My spray tan looks fabulous, and I can't wait to go back next month. As a business owner, I can say I would be proud to have these young women working for me. They did everything right and will have a repeat customer. I can't say anything about the prices, because I am unfamiliar with tanning salon prices. The place is super clean and inviting. read more

I like the salon but their Versa Spa is subpar. I went in for a spray tan and half my body is darker than the other half, some parts are splotchy, the booth itself wasn't wiped down on the floor (so the soles of my feet are tan - not a HUGE deal) but I slipped around the entire time I was in there and the blowers in the booth barely dried me so I was still damp when I left. I'm happy I tried it so I know not to go back to that Versa Spa. read more

I found some decent deals and was excited to get started tanning again. The deals were advertised as running from 12/26-1/14/16 so I figured I'd just start my package after the new year. Today, 1/4/16, I went in to purchase a package and on the front desk there was a different, higher, set of prices for the packages I was I interested in. I asked the girl at the front desk about the difference in pricing and she looked confused. When I showed her my print out with the online prices, she seemed confused said the online prices were wrong and she doesn't know why they are posted that way. I asked if she would honor the online prices since after all, that's what the company was offering. She flatly said no. She said there is no way for her to override her system and that the only prices in her system were the higher ones. There was no one else in the office to help with the issue either. In the end I paid the higher price for the 1- month membership since I need to tan for an upcoming warm-weather trip. This wasn't the package I was interested in but the new higher cost for the other package I liked, was just too high. Yes, I'll go and tan for the duration of the package I purchased, but seriously, the practice of posting lower prices to get people in, and then refusing to honor what you offered is shady. And if you only offer said online prices at one of your locations, clearly state that. Note- as of today 1/4/16- the lower advertised prices are still on their website, same as they were on 12/30/15 when I printed them out. read more

I went here for a spray tan 2 days before my trip to Mexico. I have never had one, so I didn't know what to expect. I went through the process and left. Later I get a call that the formula wasn't hooked up to the hose. They just blew air on me. I had no idea how it was supposed to feel. I laughed it off. I've called 3 times because the first 2 times they said a manager would call me back, never happened. On the 3rd call I finally got a manager. She explained that they were mailing out my $30 check the next day for the mishap. This was almost 3 weeks ago and still no refund check. Don't go here. They don't care. This salon surpasses all expectations and industry standards. The equipment is always CLEAN & up-to-date (which I can't say for some other salons!) The prices are very reasonable - in fact, even more favorable compared to competitor prices. And the staff is always courteous, friendly and helpful, but never pushy! (I come there to relax, and not to be pressured or stress out under a barrage of aggressive sales tactics). I have paid the same price for a lousy, run-down "level 4" bed from a competitor, as for an excellent-condition "level 6" (the highest) bed at Tropi Tan. But even if I had to pay more at Tropi Tan, I would - because there is absolutely NO other salon like it. read more

Not just the best tanning salon I have been too, it sets the bar higher for other businesses in general. Girls are polite and informative, never snotty like at some places. Beds are clean, everything always works perfectly, and they have great hours. Wish it was closer to my house, but that's it. Great place to go! Also my roommate went and got a spray tan for an event and her first spray tan was half off. She visited two more times after that and got a coupon in the mail for another one! read more

Great salon.... Until you want to actually use what you paid for. I was signed up for unlimited spray tanning, the only problem was.... It won't take to my skin, oh and unlimited means 5 times a month. The girl working when I was signed up failed to mention any of these aspects. Needless to say, I will not be keeping this service after one month. Plus considering the fact that their staff isn't knowledgeable about the offers they provide, I'm shocked they are still in business. read more

Horrible new owners. Rude and disrespectful. They only care about money. Tried to make me pay a fee to use higher level beds when I am a super sun club member so I have access to ALL levels. They have raised their prices and said that was why I was being asked because I wasn't paying enough, when I spoke with corporate and they said I was paying the correct amount. They have rude staff now that their previous manager is gone. The owner told me that she doesn't deal with complaints... that's why she has a manager, when I was told by the manager she would contact me. That that's not her job. Wtf! Who isn't involved in their own business!!! When I told her that I was so frustrated I went to corporate she said that was fine that I could do what I wanted, they would have her back. They care about MONEY only not about us as clients. I've never been treated so poorly by an owner. I am continuing to talk to corporate. STAY AWAY! You're better off somewhere where they care. My friend and I just got a spray tan there for a wedding and it was completely STREAKED!!! Go somewhere else!! Planet fitness has better beds close by and is only $20 month unlimited and you get a gym membership (bonus) and every time you go in you don't have to be forced overly priced lotion and drilled about your eye wear! what a rip off with RUDE people! read more
