The negative reviews of this place are misguided at best, and sadly ignorant or malicious at worst. This place is exactly what it claims to be, a place to get some color. The staff at every location I have been to are all incredible, and friendly. I can be a bit of a talker, but I find the staff enjoys the conversations, does their best to be helpful, and enjoys the banter. This place is gem, where most salons simply lack the overall presence to be useful. (Aka - there just aren't enough of them.) The management of these places have always treated me with respect, kindness, consideration, and sincerity. In summary, if you want a clean, comfortable, friendly environment to get a good tan in, this is your best bet. Well done Midnite Sun. read more

From my experience, the Versa spray tan does not give you a bronze color. Even if you exfoliate it did not give me any color and I upgraded to dark too. I did the spray twice there. I've spray tanned for years and never had this issue. Minute Sun is expensive for its customer service. The nice places give you towels and cleaning wipes for your face. I asked for a towel to wipe off barrier cream and I was told "go to the bathroom and get a paper towel." I plan to cancel my membership as soon as they get their two months out of me. If this happens to you, try another place. Spray tans are suppose to work. I mentioned it was not working and blamed it was my lotion. I have the Norvel lotion and exfoliate and don't use lotion prior to spray tanning. I wonder if this place gets audited for what they use in their machines. read more

This is in regards to Midnite Sun's business as a whole. I down graded my membership (that I've had for years!) on 10/31/21 and stated I had a Buddy Pass if it was needed (for the lower price) I was told it wasn't needed but hold on to it. I didn't tan in November because my household was sick and we had a lot going on however, my debit card was charged the normal rate rather than the Buddy Pass rate. I went to tan in December and was advised I owed for December. I explained about the down grade, the Buddy Pass and the full charge in November and that I shouldn't have had to pay for a employees mistake. The employee said she'd contact her boss. I went in a week later, NOTHING was resolved and the same girl acted like she never heard of the issue. I went in 1/8/22... A different employee, she called her boss and after some back & forth said her boss was emailing the owner and asked me to as well, so I did before even leaving the parking lot. Today 1/17/22 I never heard from the owner or anyone else so I called the store on Byron Center and was told it was resolved, I didn't owe and could tan so I thought *great!*. I went to the store on Kalamazoo and was told I owed $74. which was a step backwards in this being resolved! I said I wanted to cancel my membership and the employee said "no I want to fix this" reluctantly I said FINE as she called her boss who was doing what was done in the beginning of this mess before the email and I was still ending up paying for a employees mistake! I said nope I want to cancel, she said we can fix this we can fix this, rather than letting me cancel my membership!! I don't recommend Midnite Sun anymore, this has been such a unprofessional mess!!! I emailed the owner again stating I want my membership canceled, hopefully something sinks in! read more

The manager Nicki is so helpful knowledgeable and honest. She is always so friendly and easy to talk to. First time tanning she walked me through the process and advised 20 minutes would not be advised which I appreciated and thank her for. I go almost daily now and I look and feel amazing. I have come here multiple times and never had an issue. Until today. I did a spray tan... followed their instructions showered, exfoliated prior to my appointment, got the dark color... waited 14 hours to shower- mostly because it was through the night... and still NO COLOR... I even used their products to help make the color last longer... come back in to see what they recommend.. they did NOTHING... told me I have to purchase another one.. The supervisor told me it was my fault for the products i used while I shower so they don't guarantee anything... it's a bunch of bull. Making sure everyone knows heir customer service is the WORST. I will be going else where from on. I was given a free spray tan for the issues listed above... I decided to get it done around August 23- took my time updating because once again I was disappointed with this place. Since I have been to other places in the area- not only was their customer service better their product is guaranteed so if you are unhappy or there was a problem they will refund you... Some of the worst customer service I've ever received. In the several months I went here, there was a rotating door of new staff members, who often times were nowhere to be found. A couple months after first signing the contract, I believed enough time had passed to cancel it without a penalty (which was in accordance with what the worker told me before I signed on the dotted line). When I reviewed the contract to see what I needed to do to initiate cancellation, I realized there was a huge discrepancy between what the worker told me and the contract. When I was next in the salon, I asked a different worker for clarification, and was given a different set of information from everything previous. I asked to speak with the manager, who then gave me yet another set of information. Four different sets of information on how to cancel the contract. When I explained my concern over all the different information to the manager, she became rude and defensive; clearly she was not interested in helping. It was costly and stressful, but eventually I was able to get free of this place. I think trying to cancel a deal with the devil would be easier than trying to cancel a contract with this salon. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could. Stopped in today to see about getting a few tanning sessions in before my wedding that is in a week. The manager first gave me an annoyingly long tour and description of each bed along with reasons why the bigger, better more expensive beds were the only thing that will work for me. At this point I felt irritated with her "I'm a saleswomen" shenanigans, however the place is close to my house so I told her that I just wanted to go with the mid-level "faster" bed and a 1 month membership since that was the best pricing option and I'm not interested in looking like Magda (...movie reference). Here's where it gets better. Instead of just taking my information and letting me get on with my day she decides to turn it on thick with the $40 lotions. I told her I'm not interested because I already have lotion at home, she keeps going...I say no thanks, she keeps going...I say no....then she moves on to the $9.99 single use packets just for this one visit because "they strongly discourage dry tanning". Apparently she has her PhD in fake tanning. It's one time lady!!!! I just want to lay quietly in that frickin bed for 5 min. What happened? I said nevermind and walked out, never again to see the 30 minutes of my life tanning boss lady so rudely took from me. Suggestions: Know your audience. People are coming in trying to get a shade or 2 darker, not buy a car. Save the soapbox speech for...actually no one wants to hear it. Also, have some respect for people's time. Nobody wants to waste an afternoon at the tanning salon. It's a get in get out kinda place. Lastly, if your margins are so low that the only way to stay in business is to upsell the crap out of lotions, then just shut down. read more

So excited to get up this morning and start a tanning membership here. I just moved in across the street. Came in ready to purchase their biggest package and two bottles of lotion instead I was told I had a past balance from 2016 (in which I tried to cancel with them, but received no response). She took it down to one month of fees ($71), which was nice of her. But the reviews were right, going somewhere else. Save your money... they just put you in a bad mood. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Wasted 30 minutes of my time getting products shoved in my face. I told the girl I didn't want to use the product she was trying to sell me because I don't use products tested on animals and she lied to me telling me that none of their products are tested on animals. Then after several times of telling her I wanted a spray tan with medium bronzer, she "forgot" to add the bronzer. Would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

This place is a waste of money and is incredibly expensive for the service that is provided. My favorite tanning booth got shut down so I switched to this one and was blown away by how expensive it is. Today I went in to use my 30 day pass that I paid too much for and was denied using the beds because I didn't have eyewear that isn't provided by them and is an extra 7.00$ on top of your already expensive tanning bill so I am forced to turn to alternative "stickers" for 0.74$ and make another trip to my car to grab change just to hear the angry manager tell me after walking in and out a second time that they don't accept cash at all. Walked into an empty sun tan city. Was "greeted" by Elyse as potential new clients . Was husband and I used up our last tans at South beach tan where we have been tanning for years . We received a promo for sun tan city so figured we would check it out . As soon as Elyse found out we were using a code she was extremely rude. She pushed lotions, packages, and lotions on us several times. She also gave me "permission" to walk to my car to get my lotion as we were treated like children. I spent 20 minutes signing and filing out clip boards (clearing stating I am a weekly tanner and do not burn) only to be told I can only tan for 2-3 minutes in the same bed that she continued to tell me wouldn't give me a tan so I should upgrade . After hearing that it would take me longer to undress then the time I was aloud in the bed while having someone disrespect us over and over I looked at my husband and he didn't hesitate to give me the nod for us to walk out . After owning several businesses I know first hand how important costumer service is and Elyse is light years away from management material . Strongly recommend staying away from this location. read more

I had a membership at Suntan City. You could freeze your membership for a small monthly fee until you wished to use it again. I went in as required to have my account froze beginning in July. Mid June I asked to have that extended and to take effect in August. In June when it was froze I completed the required forms for July and obtained a copy. When I asked for the extension until August I did not get a new form. She said everything was all set and it would take effect August 1st. Well when August 1st came, I was automatically charged. I placed a call and was informed that the girl who waited on me was new and no longer there. Therefore she wasn't there to ask but since she did not process correctly therefore I was charged and could not be reimbursed or credited. My account would however be froze and a month of tanning paid for when I came back. I called and spoke with Rachel the manager. I explained the situation informing her that the girl who waited on me was responsible as she clearly didn't process correctly. I was offered the same offer. I explained that I did not feel that it was appropriate since clearly the girl who waited on me was in error and wished to be credited the cash not tanning in the future. Rachel informed me that she would contact the district manager to see about cutting me a check. A few days later no word. I called Rachel again and informed she had sent an email to the district manager but she would send another. Rachel did tell me to come in and enjoy a tan while I waited for the district manager. Rachel would get back with me as soon as she did hear something form the district manager. Days have passed no word from Rachel. No reimbursement due to the error of an employee who is no longer there. I will no longer be using their services. read more

After reading several good reviews, I decided to try Midnite Sun at Knapp's Corner. Unfortunately, my disappointment was too great for me not to post this review. The place appeared empty (maybe the beds had some people in them?), and one woman walked in before me. I waited while she asked questions and when she had to go back to her vehicle to get something, I expected the salesperson to answer a question or two for me (since there was no one else there), but instead she told me to sit down and she would "get back with me" once the customer comes back in the store and is done. Wow.. really? I can't even ask a question? So I patiently sat down and waited what seemed like another 5-10 minutes. When I finally got up to speak to the salesperson, she only tried to sell me on products and explaining why I needed them. While being polite and indicating I just didn't need or want them and that I was ready to tan (spray tan), she would not let me pay and go in!! She was forcing me to buy products! I have spray tanned before so I knew what I was doing (unfortunately the place I had gone to was no longer in business and that is what brought me to Midnite Sun). She was requiring me to buy product that I'd never use just in order to use the spray tan booth. Needless to say, I walked out of the place and will never go back. Customer service was nonexistent and disappointing (even condescending), but the salesperson showed up that day (don't tell me they don't get a commission for upselling). Midnite Sun basically said goodbye to someone that had the money and just wanted to use the spray tan booth. read more
