I had an Island Green Smoothie and a Chicken Cali Flatbread, my smoothie tasted the best compared to other locations I've been to, and my flat bread was just as great. So , I came into tropical smoothie to get some lunch. First off, every single employee was either sitting down or on there phone or doing nothing. The only person who even greeted me was the girl who just came to work. Then she had to tell the boy on his phone literally talking to someone thag he had a customer. The employee finally came behind the counter so I could order. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with no lettuce and extra ranch on the side. It did not take long to get my wrap , however since the young man could not figure out how to add extra ranch and nor could the other employee so he said he would just tell her. Well no extra ranch for me. He also while I was paying cash acted like he was going to keep my change then asked if I ordered a smoothie which I did not. Thankfully I got my receipt and my change . I finally got my wrap . Im not sure who is hiring these slackers but this was the worst service display I have ever seen and this is coming from someone who has run 2 restaurants in her past. This was a lunch order, suggested by my coworker. I ordered a Thai salad and sun chips. Sadly I never received the chips and the salad I got tired of picking out bad mushy lettuce and mushy black cilantro. The mote I tossed to cover with dressing the more displeased I became. The establishment smelled really awful not really quite sure what it was. I addressed it to the young lady I kindly asked her if maybe something had burned, but then really wasn't quite the smell. I was hinting at was that it smelled absolutely awful in there ....she seemed not to have a care in the world and right before we walked in these Young boys were walking out and screamed that it smelled like Excrement in there. That's not the word they used but I just wanted to let somebody know that it did smell really bad in there and they need to do something about the odor cause it's very odorous and they could get some type of air freshener up in there. I feel really bad for the employees because they don't know That it's even there cause they're working in it constantly like maybe it could be like a really dirty mop head that's making the business smell bad. On Saturday 2/22/25 at about 6:50pm I went to this store to get a smoothie. When I entered there was one employee behind the counter who did not greet me or even look at me. To another employee, She said something about have other things to do. That employee went in the back to talk to yet another employee, manager I think. The manager finally came out and took my order. The attitude of the employees was "I couldn't care less about my work." So the atmosphere was not welcoming at all, and I suspect the "couldn't care less" attitude I experienced affects the quality of the food and drinks provided by this store. read more

This is possible the worst tropical smoothie I've ever been to. All the employees wearing headphones and have regard of what customer service is. I walked in and wasn't greeted. Three people were standing in the cafe waiting to be acknowledged as well. The employees were all in the back of house laughing and joking. When I went to order I was told the item I wanted they "we don't have anymore". I get it, it's 7:45PM and you're trying to close but you don't have to be so flippant about it. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had and I work in the industry as well, so I give grace. This Tropical Smoothie is a well oiled machine! Very clean and organized. Indoor and outdoor seating. Employees were nice. One girl was taking orders while the other girl was making the smoothies. It was the fastest I've ever gotten a smoothie at a TroSmo and it wasn't slow in there. Maybe it was because the other customers only ordered smoothies and not hot food which kinda slows things down. Anyways, I look forward to visiting this location again! Definitely going to have to come back for the morning happy hour 7am-9am any 24oz smoothie for $2.99! Staff couldn't seem to care less about being friendly or welcoming. The girl at the register gave me extreme RBF while I perused the menu. I had to repeat my order twice and they still got it wrong - Wrap instead of bowl. Those 2 words don't even sound alike. Omg why is the customer service so bad for an Island experience. I know it's hard to find good people nowadays but this has taken a blemish to the name of Tropical delight. On July 10 our orders were off and the big dude didn't even apologize for his mistake. Really he did not comment at all like he didn't want to be there. No acknowledgment for a mistake he had done. A simple I'm sorry let me fix that for you or any comment of gratitude that I'm happy to work here. I hope the owner reviews this and hires accordingly. You have some good people there but a little leaven ruins the whole. Motivation and inspirational people need to be placed and hopefully increase the bottom line and that is to serve the customers. This location is one of the worst and I have been to several in both Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. I walked in on 11/15/23 just before the conclusion of their Happy Hour. Immediately I see two of the workers lounging in the customer's chairs. One female is on her phone and the other male is lying across the table in a hooded. Nice look for customers to see. The young woman behind the register has on a stained shirt which gives me pause. Nonetheless, because I didn't feel like driving the short distance to the other location near Harris Teeter (I soo regretted being lazy!), I placed my order. The next thing I know, the young female that had been sitting at a table in the customer area, walked behind the counter, grabbed a pitcher and was getting ready to make my order! I quickly asked the young woman that had taken my order if the other female was making MY order. She replied "yes". I told her that she (the one making the smoothies) needed to first wash her hands because she had been sitting outside of the kitchen area at customer tables, on her phone. Honey, when I tell you that the energy in the room went left... you could feel the change in the atmosphere! Whew, Chile! The cashier told the other female (who had already overheard me) that she needed to wash her hands. I'm not sure how it was said because words were mumbled. By the way, there were no other customers in the cafe at the time. I would not have sought to embarrass anyone. I would have still spoken up because I don't play about my food or drink, but I would have been more discreet in my request. This girl had such a nasty attitude when walking away, supposedly to wash her hands. She took longer than a couple of minutes in the back. Now, I do believe there is a sink in closer proximity. Why she walked all the way in the back is a mystery to me but you can best believe on your life that I prayed over my drinks before consuming! I prayed for all negativity to be returned to the sender with no harm to me or my stomach! I understand that it's hard finding people who will work for such small wages but whomever is representing the company should do so with professionalism, courtesy and always observe sanitary practices. Washing your hands when returning to work is Serv Safe 101! I won't be coming to this location again. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. The smoothie wasn't up to the same standard as other cafes... it tasted watered down... like there was way too much ice used. I didn't want the hassle of having such a negative person remake my drink. I'll just go to the one off of Progressive. My son and I stopped here to grab a smoothie and a kids grilled cheese for my son after haircuts together on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was empty except for one person waiting for their order. We got the peanut butter cup smoothie within a few minutes, but we waited 30 whole minutes for the grilled cheese, and that's after I had to remind them twice, then had to stand at the register until they made it in front of me. The food at TSC is acceptable, but the real reason I choose to come here is because I don't want to spend the same amount of time waiting for food as a full service restaurant. Horrible and slow as hell EVERY TIME. Literally like a bad relationship where you keep giving them chances but they are continually trash. Today I ordered online and got a email receipt per usual, Said ready in12 minutes but their orders are never ready when they say anyways. I went in after 12 minutes waited patiently on my order workers were in the back just chilling out and after waiting they never even had my order. They basically made my order after me telling them what it was and didn't even do that quickly as I watched other people's food being made and given to them after my issue had already been brought to their attention smh they don't even have any idea of what service recovery is. I ordered 130 boxed lunches for an employee event. We gave our employees four options. This tropical smoothie location had our order flawless! They wrote each employee's name on the box and every order was correct! Amazing! The price was very reasonable as well and each employee received a sandwich or wrap, cookie and chips. Their cookies are phenomenal by the way :-) This location's staff was very customer service oriented and the store was super easy to work with. Got here around lunch time and this place was PACKED, so I decided to order my food on the app which I've never done before and it was fairly easy. Just make an account then choose your order and it allows you to customize as well. Any who, I ordered and went in only waited about seven minutes for my food even though the line was long but they have a separate one for pick ups. The order was accurate, food tasted fresh.
