Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a franchise company with over 1100 locations. They serve smoothies, flatbreads, sandwiches, wraps, salads, quesadillas, and kid's meals. I made 2 visits and bought a Thai Chicken Wrap, an Island Green smoothie, and a Detox Island Green smoothie. The Thai Chicken Wrap had grilled chicken, carrots, sesame seeds, fried wonton noodles, cilantro, scallions, romaine lettuce, and Thai peanut sauce. The chicken was white meat. It was moist and tender. There wasn't much meat. There was a very small filet cut into 6 small pieces. The fried wonton noodle strips were soggy from the Thai peanut sauce. The sauce had mild flavors of peanut, soy sauce, sweetness, and spiciness. Overall, it was flavorful and nicely balanced.    Island Green smoothie had spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, and banana (naturally sweetened). It was blended well with no chunks. It had a moderate banana flavor mixed with a moderate spinach/kale flavor. It was mildly sweet with a light citrus flavor. I didn't think I'd like a smoothie with spinach or kale, but this smoothie was pretty good.    The Detox Island Green smoothie had spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, banana, and fresh ginger (naturally sweetened). The overwhelming flavor was ginger. There was so much ginger that it was spicy hot. The natural sweetness became unnoticeable. Someone was either heavy-handed with the ginger, or the recipe needs to be changed. The spinach and kale flavors were mild. I had to add 3 tbsp of sucralose to counterbalance the ginger so that it was drinkable. After the addition of sucralose, it tasted alright.    The service was quick and cordial. The cafe was very clean. There are 5 tables with chairs and a counter with seats. There is one restroom in the back of the cafe and it was clean. I recommend giving them a visit.

Well I'm glad they've opened a tropical smoothie on this end!! Since I've moved to MD it's been hard to find smoothies but, here's a familiar face/place. I gave it this rating because.... the team there was great with service but, I still left with a not so good smoothie. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday or maybe the folks were pretty new. IDK I'll have to try this location again and maybe the food so I could update my post with more positive feedback. As for now, this is it.

The storefront and a smoothie!

I come here almost everyday to get the same smoothie!! The Chia Banana Boost! This location has the best customer service, the staff is always friendly and attentive and they make the smoothie to perfection!! The Playlist in the store is always on point too. Great vibes all around!! Kudos!

But otherwise the food is a healthy option and it's great to see young black kids working well despite not having proper support.

First, let me say I like this place. However, I've only done carryout. It's always clean and homesome. One night I stumbled upon a book club meeting in the restaurant. Local poets/writers were sharing their work which was quite impressive. The food is consistently decent and seemingly fresh. I particularly like the catfish and greens. And now it's the greens that I want to address. You get a very small portion as a side dish. I think it's $8. At least twice I've witnessed the person preparing the greens to-go realize they needed to put more greens and less juice. Well today topped any other day as far as the portion of greens I received with my dinner. In the attached pics, it's a large piece of skin that came out of the small container of greens and a picture of what was left once it was removed. That's it. That's the review. Smh

Visited this location on Wednesday (between meetings) for a pickup order -- chicken & waffles and…read morethe crab hash -- totaling $56. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed with the food quality. The chicken wingettes were burnt, and the crab hash was overwhelmingly covered in Old Bay seasoning. I frequent M&H often, but this was by far the worst experience I've had, especially considering the price point. Had I not been rushing, already home and between meetings, I would have returned the entire order.

First Fridays are clearly a big deal there because the place was packed, the Gogo band was good, and the atmosphere was fun. I ended up sitting at the bar instead of getting a table and ordered a drink for myself, a drink for my cousin, and some shrimp. The food and drinks were actually good, so I can definitely see why people like coming here. What frustrated me was the pricing and gratuity situation. After looking at the menu, I saw it mentioned a 20% gratuity for parties of four or more, so I didn't think that applied to me since I was sitting at the bar with no table. I even asked the waitress if I could order food at the bar and she said yes, but nobody explained there would still be an automatic gratuity added. The drinks were $12 each and the bang bang shrimp were $13, so I was confused when my total came out to almost $50 and not realizing I added additional to the tip. I had to ask for the receipt multiple times before I finally saw the gratuity charge unbeknownst to me. I think the restaurant/menu needs to be a lot more upfront and clear about when gratuity is automatically added... and that's whether it's for First Fridays, live bands, bar service, or anything else. Being surprised by service fees, automatic gratuity or any hidden fee not clearly mentioned, for me, can leave a bad impression even when the food and atmosphere are good. As a small business, there are already stereotypes and complaints people make about hidden fees and pricing, and situations like this unfortunately don't help that narrative. With that said, I still plan to come back because I genuinely enjoyed the music, food, and overall vibe. I just wish the pricing and gratuity policies were communicated more clearly from the beginning... especially in this economy!

We were quickly seated and approached by our waitress who also-served as the bartender that afternoon. Because she was genuinely pleasant it made our dining experience inviting. The menu ranged from breakfast biscuits, fried green tomatoes, avocado, toast, etc. so it was hard to determine what to eat, because it was a tossup between cheesecake pancakes and the Biscoff chicken and waffles. Guess who won! With the other combination of soup sandwiches desserts inside you can never go wrong here at milk and honey. This is definitely a land of Milk and Honey! We entered, admired the artwork around the room and were seated immediately to talk further what we liked about it. We were first greeted by our server Tess, who introduced herself & gave us menus. We searched a little, of course hawk-eyed other tables to see what others ordered... and Tess came back a few minutes later to take our drink orders. We got some waters, iced tea, lavender lemonades, and a mimosa flight for the table... but for a Sunday (what I would expect to be a busy day; a day of POST-prep) we received not 1 but 2 dirty glasses that we had to send back. Additionally, it took us over 20 minutes to get not one the flight but the simple nonalcoholic lavender lemonade to the table and was never told what the delay was about. The owner Tiess (I hope I spelled that right) did walk around with a smile, and to greet the table. All tables, and that is always appreciated and noticed by me. We did express to her our concerns and she did ensure us that we'd be taken care of. Tess grabs our orders and later our food comes out. I have been to Milk & Honey before in Bowie, and I say that because I don't remember their menu being so "busy". The grits and fried green tomatoes as an example of said "busy" items. Overall, the food was okay. Their potatoes were overcooked said 1-party, while as previously stated, another party said their grits and the fried green tomatoes were too busy. Not that it was good or bad, just... busy. Too much going on. I personally had the whiting and it was the star of the meal. My side of (plain ol) grits came out and I appreciated them being plain....they were just cold. So... 3 it is. Last few things : 1. Please note that there is a 1.5hour wait time. 2. There is a dj. 3. There is outside covered seating available, overlooking part of the upcoming surrounding shopping center and parking lot. 4. An 18% gratuity is entered for orders over $150.

This location looked to be fairly new. It was clean, we visited very early in the morning and we were kind of disappointed in the service part of it. The employees were not as friendly and it felt like they were just there to socialize instead of run the business. We ordered 2 jalapeno and cheese kolaches and 2 glazed donuts. Every Shipley's I've visited always gave you hot kolaches and warm glazed donuts that literally melt in your mouth. At this location, this was not the case. The kolache was barely warm which made it nearly impossible to eat since the cheese was not melty and the sausage was cold inside. The glazed donut was not fresh at all. It seemed like it was sitting there for a while, but Shipley's is known for their warm glazed donuts. Food is prepared as it's ordered. They have a hot bar with some offerings and other things are listed on the menu. Rotating specials on various days and overall, my portion vs price paid was generous. The guy working was doing it all solo since his co-worker left and didn't tell him. I was in no hurry and he was quite efficient in handling walk in customers and their drive thru window. Of note, if you don't ask for cutlery or condiments, it's understood that you didn't want them. He was pleasant and didn't do much talking because he was working. They have canned soft drinks, from a dispenser lemonade, sweet tea and are happy to make it a half and half. I got sweet tea and it had a weird taste. This made me think that it's from a mix and not brewed. I didn't event drink it all because the taste was off-putting. I went with the turkey wings, collard greens and sweet potatoes. Thank goodness the sweet potatoes weren't overly sweetened. The turkey wings weren't as tender as mine and needed some attention to detail to remove the small remnants of feathers. The greens had to much stalk and were not from a can. Seasoning on the food was to my liking, but not overdone. My friend had a taste for fish and went with the 2 piece catfish combo. The fish was fried to order and was piping hot when she sat down to eat. Their sides were macaroni and cheese and collard greens. They enjoyed their food but the mac and cheese had a "made with liquid cheese" vibe to it and thats what made me not select it. Parking is on the side of the building or you can park in the rear and walk to the front. The door faces the street and the back of the building is towards the shopping area.
