It works for smoothies. I like the strawberry and banana, or blueberry laden ones especially. They've raised their prices considerably. A lot of this could be related to the economy. Yet I can't go as often as I used to. A shame as their smoothies are delicious and healthy. As for their meals, I give them credit for fitness enthusiast selections, but not a really exciting menu. 10/28/19 Some places automatically add sugar into the smoothies. This and one other place asked me if I wanted sugar in it. I think because I added kale to my drink, the natural sugar in the fruit was cut way down. The lady in the ponytail was the friendliest of the group there. I will call her Katalina. This place is big as far as work space goes. The chairs are near the front of the entrance. However, you can sit around the bar area and see your drinks get made. The bathrooms are not unisexed, but the very well could be. I hope in the future they are. As I keep drinking, I can fell my body craving sugar and this is dangerous. By using the app I put in my order and its ready for pickup in 10minutes. The workers are always friendly and I've never had an issue with my order. My go to order is the chipotle chicken flatbread and either mango magic or sunrise sunset smoothie with splenda. The size of the smoothie can be shared between two people but I like to drink half and save the rest for the next day and its still good. I've only tried a few smoothies but they've all been delicious. Another plus is that you can customize your drink. The also have kid sizes in care you bring your kid or don't want a large cup. They obviously had a sign for online order pick up at a separate section, however all the staff were to ignorant to realized and didn't even bother to ask, but just to look my way and moved on. The food and smoothies here are Consistently good. Hardly ever is there a wait time. I gave it three stars for two reasons: the place is always just a little dirty. The trash is always overflowing so bad that I don't have anywhere to put my trash before I leave. I ordered smoothies and food to pick up on my way home I called ahead by about 20 minutes early. when I got there the smoothies were sitting out on the counter. The staff person told me they've been sitting out for almost 20 minutes. When I asked her why she didn't keep them in the refrigerator like other smoothie places she said "we expect people to get here earlier". Of course, I'd like to point out that she did remake the smoothies after I asked. She also is pretty young and probably just doesn't know any better. Mango magic - Great! Chicken Caesar wrap - (-_-) I ordered the original way they used to make the chicken wrap before it became a supergreen (with my own preferences). I asked for nothing that made it super, just the basic wrap and extra dressing on the side. She asked me again to understand what I was asking for...so I said no kale, no spinach, no crisps, no tomatoes, just dressing, romaine, shredded parmesan, and chicken. After me, a guy ordered a vegetarian Thai wrap. So as more employees came out to help make the multiple orders, somehow...someway...in some sort of midst of confusion with the orders...MY order became a wrap WITHOUT chicken...yep, they made mine like his!!! My initial review: I love Tropical Smoothie, but this one is hit or miss. Sometimes the smoothies turn out great and sometimes they have chunks of ice. That was the case today in addition to getting a chunk of one of the additives. It was hard to get that taste out of my mouth after. I will make the drive to another TS next time although they have a very friendly staff! 1 week later: Bomb smoothie! Just perfect. I have been here several times and food/service has been great. However, recently our pickup orders on two separate occasions were missing the chips. It was different staff working each time, so it appears to be an honest mistake by both employees. Still giving it five stars here and will submit my concern to corporate. Yes! I'm happy to know that there a smoothie cafe in the area. I can't wait until summer rolls out so I can come by more often to pick up a smoothie and walk around the area. Not loving this location and unfortunately it is the location closest to my house should I desire a late night, or weekend smoothie. Some employees have been friendly, others less so. My biggest complaint is that it is the polar opposite of the Dunn Loring location which is right by my work and is absolutely outstanding (always a perk when employees know your order before you even say a word.) But at this specific location my daughter and I have visited at least 20+ times and the employees quite simply do not care. From the time I got a second smoothie free of charge due to them making double, however the employee very loudly remarking "well that's what I get for talking crap about a customer." To last Wednesday, when the only customization I made to my chicken quesadilla was no salsa so it didn't spill in my car, and when he was ringing me up he said "so you said no chicken on the quesadilla?" And I corrected "no salsa please" only to get out to my car take a bite and realize I had nothing but a plain cheese quesadilla and both kinds of salsa. The final straw that led to this review, was that I hail from the west coast, we do not have a sonic in NoVa where I can go buy my beloved bags of nugget ice. So the next best thing I've found is tropical smoothie uses the same type of ice, and if I have them put it in one of their plastic bags it survives the trip home where I can then move it to a proper ice bag. Well I've always topped the employees when they have grabbed my two bags of ice as I know it is an unusual and time consuming request. However the manager of the location informed me the other day that it was coming from "corporate" that they would need to charge me for the ice, as it's using supplies. I did not realize that a plastic bag and frozen water were such a drain when I'm at one or both of the tropical smoothie locations just about every day, spending at least $20... Where this became an even bigger issue was that it was the employees at the Dunn Loring location that let me know the bags cost 5c approx a piece and they had no such order from corporate saying they needed to charge for extra bags. So the manager of the Fairfax location felt the need to specifically chide a customer spending at least $20 on a daily basis, over a 5c bag and maybe a penny used in water to freeze into the ice, and I'm tipping the employees to grab it to begin with. After writing this long review the only thing I can say for this location is their smoothies are generally consistent and at the end of the day that's generally what my daughter and I are there for, just would be nice if there were employees who even slightly cared. read more
