This has been a favorite of mine for years now. Finding this chain here in IL was a happy accident. You can never go wrong with a smoothie. So many different options of flavors and add-ins. My personal go-to is the Island Green smoothie made with kale, spinach, pineapple, mango, and banana. Yes it does taste "green". But trust me and give it a try. I highly enjoy their food as well. I visited the tropical smoothie in FortDodge Iowa today for the first time. I walked in mind you I'm older. I walked up to the counter stood there for 30 seconds at least five people were working in there, not one acknowledged me. Then a young man walked in the door and one of the workers said hi how are you? The young man worked there evidently he went in the back and started working as well, the kid who said hi to him I thought he was talking to me, I said I'm fine. I was about to order a watermelon Mojito but he said no I'm talking to him the gentleman behind me so I waited 30 seconds more still no one acknowledge me I said I guess they don't want my business. I left the store, sad part is I love tropical smoothie I moved here from Urbandale Iowa and they had one right down the street every time I went in there everyone acknowledge me. I love the food here and usually service is great but not this time. They decided to close tonight 15min early after I had called at 5pm and confirmed their hours were until 8. The reason I was given Is that they weren't very busy so decided to close early. This is not a bar this is a restaurant with other possible families/customers wanting to get food within their set hours of operation. While I realize this is not the end of the world for me i do see it as a reflection of poor service and ethics of the establishment. I will not be going to this location in the future. read more

The smoothies are definitely too sweet, like one of the other reviewers mentioned. For less than $5 after tax, you get a huge tall smoothie, but I only sipped half after reading on their website that I would be consuming 100 grams of sugar if i finished the whole thing! ONE HUNDRED GRAMS OF SUGAR! I had the low fat strawberry/kiwi smoothie, and it was around 450 calories which isn't bad, lower fat than the others, but it was all sugar. They serve wraps, salads, and baked goods too. I had the Southwest salad from here, and it was pretty unappetizing. The 2 employees looked like disgruntled high school or college girls. read more

I often go to Tropical Smoothie, as there are healthy options on the menu. However, I am often dissatisfied with my order because it is very inconsistent. Sometimes my wrap is great, whereas other times it looks like it's been thrown together. The super-green Caesar wrap does not have kale or spinach on it as it claims in the menu. Rather, it is just full of iceberg lettuce. Additionally, Tropical Smoothie often doesn't answer the phone when I try to place an order for pick-up. Overall, I would say I enjoy this place but would prefer more consistency. read more

Excellent food and smoothies. Highly recommend the flatbreads. Can't beat the price. Fast, friendly, healthy and delicious. And if you're counting calories or sugar intake you can order smoothies with no sugar added or with a sugar substitute. SO NICE :) keep up the good work guys!!! read more

PROBLEMS== Youu have to sign up nationally to get coupons.... but it is a bummer to find out they don't accept the national coupons here. I don't like disclosing information and then not being able to use coupons........Even worse 3 straight time this month I ordered the 3.99 special smoothie posted on their cash register and 3 straight times I was charged the 4.99 price.......once I complained and got my dollar back....but the other 2 times I did not want to complain to tthe young ladies working but was not happy. 3.5 -- I rounded up since it beats everything else in the area This is the only place in my hometown that does not gastronomically embarrass me. The veggie veggie wrap is pretty good, and one of the few food items I've tried here since I was vegetarian growing up in FD. The veggie flatbread is nice as well, and the desserts I've had there are pretty typical. I would caution a bit on the smoothies -- they tend to be a bit sweet. I usually ask for half sweetness and that works out well. One annoying thing is that all sandwiches/wraps are sold with chips or fruit -- so you still have to pay more even if you don't want chips or fruit. :( read more
