We went in at 8:36 about 20 minutes before close and were met with a hostile greeting. They said they weren't serving food, which was fine cause we were only doing smoothies. Through out them making our 2 smoothies, they were complaining about us coming in, and wondering why they didn't shut doors. They then proceeded with to lock the doors, saying to coworkers that she was gonna have to let us out. Got our two smoothies finally, one was not full, and did not taste like it usually does. I've only been through the drive thru and countless of times my smoothie was bland and had no taste. First time I went into the store it took so long for them to get to the cash register because a manager by the name of Tonya was cussing out a teenage worker in the back. I cannot believe what she was saying and I won't be going back until this is dealt with. I am disturbed and disappointed that any supervisor would allow this behavior. I like this place better than the one in Fairborn. It seems like the produce/goods are fresher and the store is a lot cleaner. The employees who were working here were friendly, and like the other Tropical Smoothie Cafe, the smoothies always come out super fast. My favorite smoothie so far is the Peanut Paradise. But there are a ton to choose from. BTW, the smoothies only come in one size (24oz). Also, they love sending out flyers in the mail for discounts on smoothies and wraps. I had 8 orders and was missing one, asked about it and was called rude and told they should just cancel it altogether instead of remaking it. As if it were my fault someone else took my order. The same front counter guy hollered at patrons entering the store that were minors and under the store count rule posted on the door. He really should find antoher job if he is that miserable. I was not able to get a name as he was not wearing a name tag. the manager Tanya (sp?), has been there for years and did nothing to handle either situation. All 7 orders were COLD. Oh how I wish there was a Tropical Café close to where I live. This has become our pit stop when traveling between Columbus and Dayton. For around $5 you're guaranteed a large, thick and refreshing smoothie. The smoothies come in one size - 24 oz. there are three categories- classic, superfoods, and indulgent. There's a large variety of add ons available too. I usually stick with just the smoothies but recently tried a salad. Although the ingredients were fresh and tasty, I thought the portion was a little on the small side. If you're not from around here you can easily drive by. This is not a stand alone restaurant. A drive thru is available, it's a little tricky with a sharp turn at the end of the building. I've enjoyed the superfood acai blend for when I'm attempting to be healthy, but I truly love the Bahama mama. I'll definitely be returning. read more

They are open til 9pm. The 7pm close time is for online orders. The GM is a great manager. He took care of our order and went the extra mile when he didn't have to do. Everytime I come here there's a issue.. today I went and I never knew they added sugar in the drinks but I mean huge chunks of sugar and it tastes so sweet to the point it's nasty. I waited 30 minutes for 1 smoothie. The other times I came here they're would be huge chunks of banana or huge chunks of ice in my smoothie. A piece of banana flew to the back of my throat and I choked on it because the smoothie wasn't blended right. One of the staff is really weird and he always says weird comments to me when I come through. Don't come here go to the one in Troy it's a longer drive but so worth it! It's safe to say that this tropical smoothie is still pretty good, but has gone down lately. The wait times are pretty long, but consistent with those of others in Dayton. The smoothie itself was tasty although I couldn't really taste all of the flavor within. Asking for extra sugar going forward has seemed the best course of action but still worth the trip if you're out and about. The best I could say is. Disgusting. This is my first and last time visiting tropical smoothie. My boys ordered a breakfast wrap, a chicken pesto sandwich and both ordered a smoothie. I also ordered the berry oat smoothie and asked not to have splenda in it. There was a dog or long haired cat hair in my son's chicken pesto sandwich, and hair on the side of the smoothie as well. Yuck. The health nut had zero flavor. And my berry smoothie tasted awful and still had the splenda that I asked not to be in there. I put in an order through the app. When I went in to pick it up, the young guy told me that for "some reason" the order came through the front but not to the back kitchen so I had to wait. There was another couple there as I walked in and another at the drive thru. The couple there said that the lady in the drive thru was waiting there for 10 minutes for her food that was sitting on the counter for a while. 10 min later my smoothies come out. Another 10 minutes I waited for my food. The guy forgets the kale slaw so he goes to make a cup for me. I get home, start to dive in my food and find a piece of tape stuffed in the middle of my bowl. Have frequently visited this cafe since it's opening. Have noticed in the last three months that their shakes are less thick and taste different. My husband stopped there on 5/19/2018 to purchase two shakes and obacon ranch sandwich. The sandwich had mold on the bread and the shakes were even more runnier. At first I was ecstatic when this franchise came to my local area. I used to travel a little over 20 minutes (one way) whenever I craved their flatbread sandwiches and smoothies. Unfortunately, the employees and quality of food at the Huber location has turned me off of this restaurant. Every time I've been there (about a 10 times now) the workers look very unkempt with stains on their baggie T-shirts. The food typically takes a little longer and usually isn't that hot. Twice now I've been and witnessed employees snacking in the kitchen which, for me, is a total turn off. At least go someplace where customers can't see you. Tonight's experience will probably deter my future return. We watched as the person making the food carried a take-out order to the drive-through window, touching the window handle and dirty countertops with her gloved hands. Then, she went back into the kitchen area and proceeded to finish making OUR sandwiches, touching our food with the same gloves. The fruit smoothie tasted like ice with a hint of blueberry- it wasn't very flavorful as normal. When I got home to eat my sandwich, there was VERY LITTLE meat on it - like a sprinkle! I ate mostly bread and lettuce! What a let down. I very rarely jump on Yelp as soon as I leave a place.This experience was enough to say something. I hope the manager/owner takes notice and addresses some of their issues. I would truly like to return as The Heights area is lacking in healthier choices for fast food. read more

They are constantly packed with high school kids (it's really close to the school) and service is just poor. Today we waited for over 20 min in the drive thru. There was one car in front of us. Well I thought they were probably having an off day but today solidifies the fact that they don't understand how to run a business or a thing about customer service. All I ask of a business is to keep it clean, professional, and kind. Today I wasn't allowed to scan my app to make my points for my purchase. He didn't ask and he did not care. He totaled out my order without asking and then walked away never to be seen again. My smoothie was SUPPOSED to be free today. I also realize that this location has a serious fetish with pineapple. The last time I came in I left the mango out of my smoothie as well as the sugar. The young woman making my smoothie last time took it upon herself to add extra "pineapple juice". It tasted different and sweeter of course so I asked did they add sugar by mistake and that's when she informed me how she chose to take it upon herself to add more pineapple juice because that's what she always does....... So today a young man makes my smoothie, same smoothie but I leave the mango in and still take out the sugar, and it's still pineapple palace in my mouth right now. This place is awkward and has disappointed me twice. I don't foresee a visit back to this joke of a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Corporate should give the managers a call. This is unacceptable. read more

They make great smoothies but are extremely slow. I've been in numerous times where I was the only one there and still took forever. Also have had to tell them about the specials they were running because they didn't even know. That is ridiculous in my opinion. I tried this place for the first time since moving to the Ohio area and I picked an unusual choice of the kids chocolate banana smoothie. For the price, I didn't think that it was that great.
