Horrible!!! I have been ordering from the Lakeland 98N location for many years and I must say I have never had any issues until these last couple months. There must have been a change in ownership because the last couple orders that I have placed online were bad experiences. First off I ordered my food online on two different occasions recently and had to wait for them to make my shake, they acted as if they had no clue that I had an online order. Then they proceeded to give me my shake without the flat bread sandwich that I ordered with it so then I had to wait for them to make that. If zero stars was an option I would definitely have chosen that (coming from someone who works in food service) The staff is careless and unbothered. I have not eaten meat in 10 years and ordered plant based meat, but bit into my wrap to find I was chewing on chicken. Staff laughed about it with no concern. Tropical smoothie is usually a good place to go. This location was very dirty. The floors were visibly stained and our shoes kept sticky to them with every step. The kitchen area looked like a total mess with dirty walls and dirty blender tops laying around. It looked like it hasn't been cleaned or just had any general upkeep done in a long time. I took my daughter to use the restroom and walked out immediately as the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks and there was a cigarette butt on the floor. read more

We use to love Tropical Smoothie but today will be our last time going. First all of the girl at the register was very rude. She acted like she didn't even want to be at work. She wore a mask and talked in such a low tone. I don't mind her being safe and wearing a mask but we literally couldn't hear her. When the smoothie machines start running she didn't try to talk louder. She was very frustrated that we had her repeat our order 3 times but we couldn't hear her. And we were glad we finally did because she had us down for additional items we didn't order. One of the meals we ordered was a kids grilled cheese. The sandwich was not grilled at all. The bread was like it just came out of the bag. Super soft and not crispy. I'm guessing it was microwaved to melt the cheese ... I was horrified. Masks are mandated because we are the Covid Capital of the world, but 4 out of 5 of the employees had their masks pulled down below their noses. I commented in a gentle way that the mask did no good beneath your nose and the girl at counter told me in a snotty voice that they needed to be able to breathe to make food. Excuse me?! Precisely BECAUSE they are preparing food they need to observe hygienic practices during a pandemic Only one employee was wearing her mask correctly with her nose covered. With coronavirus at record levels, you would think they might have some concern for the health of their customers since they tout themselves as a " healthy alternative". I felt like my smoothie was not blended very well during my recent trip. There were small chunks of ice, which I don't recall from previous visits. It was noticeable as I felt I was constantly chewing on ice. As we entered the building I was not a fan of the smell. This location still reminds me of a hospital cafeteria. The food menu for some reason just never comes off as super appetizing to me, yet I have never spent the money for it. I ordered the chicken pesto flatbread and my wife ordered the Baja chicken. We waited for 21 minutes (I checked the time on our receipt after my wife complained) and was astonished that no one checked on us just sitting there staring. I finally asked politely how much longer it would be. The gentleman spoke with the kitchen who stated they never got the order. The gentleman apologized and asked if we wanted it to go. I said we would just sit down and eat. Food was provided 5 minutes later in a to go bag that was not labeled. I actually was given a chicken chipotle club and have no idea what my wife was given. Terrible service. Walked in to see a young blonde girl behind the counter with a sourpuss on that nearly turned me away, had I not been so hungry. She was busy with an order but not so much as a "Be right with you." She looks like she hates her job and her life in general. There were two customers at the time we were there, but you would have thought it was the lunch rush because it was painfully slow and awkward standing in front of the register patiently waiting to be taken care of. When it was finally our turn, she mustered a "What can I get for you" that almost made me feel bad for ordering - because that would mean she had to actually perform work-related functions. Thankfully this is smoothie-making and not brain surgery. She mixed up our orders, which normally wouldn't be bad, but one had a soy ingredient - that my friend is terribly allergic to. Thankfully she didn't have any reaction but to not know your products well enough to deliver the proper one to the right customer is atrocious. They've been consistent in getting my order right, but they've also been consistent in their lack of customer service. I haven't had a necessarily bad experience but I don't think I've really ever seen someone smile or greet the customers with a warm welcome. I have never in my life been in a DIRTIER Tropical Smoothie, much less a dirtier fast food restaurant in general. I love tropical smoothie, and love that I can rely on - clean, fresh experience and quality smoothie, but I actually almost walked out of this one feeling so gross even standing in there. Every surface was dusty, the floors probably hadn't been cleaned in a month. And unfortunately I had to use the bathroom which I had to hold my breath in because it was so nasty. For my first time at Tropical Smoothie, I wasn't too disappointed. I hadn't heard too much about it but was always interested in stopping by. I came in to this location prior to a concert and ordered a Sunrise Sunset, no turbinado sugar, and a Thai chicken salad to share. The salad was good but it wasn't the best. For a quick and on the go little place, the meal was suffice. Only part that I was not so sure of was the lack of green smoothies. I hope they add some in the future. So I honestly love Tropical Smoothie but I don't love this one. Let me start by saying this place isn't clean at all, I swear it looks like the ceiling is covered in mold and it was just disgusting. They have messed up our orders and had to redo them which took forever. I use to love this tropical smoothie location unfortunately it has gone downhill. Customer service is horrible they have young unprofessional girls working there. Im not sure if they are unprofessional because they are so young and still need experience with customer service or they simply do not have manners. I'm all for hiring any type of age but make sure they have manners. Location is truly nasty. I was watching the girl grab the mango with her long nails which is truly gross, please wear gloves. Bathroom was also gross. I remember a few years ago recommending this place to all my coworkers now I rather drive to smoothie king for better customer service and better quality of food. I just have had nothing but a poor experience at this location of Tropical Smoothie. This recent trip was so frustrating, I finally am leaving a review. The restaurant opens at 11am, and this time we arrived a few minutes early so we waited outside. An employee came up right at 11am and a co-worker unlocked the door for her. They both saw us and neither acknowledged our presence or held the door for us. I opened the door that had just closed in our face and walked to the cash register to order. We just got blank stares as we ordered and very little help. Then I look over and see their bananas for the day are all totally brown (the stack peeled, cut and ready to go in smoothies). So I didn't order a smoothie with banana. My son got a Buffalo Wrap and it was also disgusting, with way too much sauce and wilted, nasty lettuce. He could barely eat it. I have been to another location before that was great! This was mine and my daughter's first time here. The service was horrible and the place wasn't clean at all. There was garbage on the floor while the place was not busy and there were about 5-6 workers behind the counter just talking. The cashier got both of our orders wrong for food even after she repeated correctly what we had ordered. I ended up not wanting anything because they seemed like they couldn't accommodate my request but added it to our order anyway. My daughter ordered the three cheese quesadilla and they added chicken anyway. We took the order to our car and ate there because the place was so dirty. We didn't want to go back in so we just ate what we got. I will never go to this location again and sadly if it's going to be the same way at other locations we will not be back and choose other restaurants that have good customer service and cleanliness.
