The smoothies were tasty, food was so good, everything was clean and tidy inside, but the reason I'm doing this review is because I saw the reviews complaining about the younger people, but when we went inside there was an older lady sitting at the table on the phone giggling and laughing, there was no one at the register and we assumed she would hang up and attend us, well she didn't. She instead yelled for another girl to come. The younger girl was so nice she looked a bit annoyed seeing the lady on the phone and easily took our order. I used to love this chain- but today will be my last. The employees at this place are young people who lack motivation to hustle, aka work.. Service is slow and not all 3 Employees work at the same time. It's irritating to wait to have your order taken while watching the young lady get herself water, sip her water while checking her phone, chat with other non working employee. She took my order, and took her time making it, being sure to get her chat time in. She forgot the drinks and the side chips, I had to go to the counter 2x to ask for that. The most irritating part with Tropical Smoothie is the automatic added 15% tip. I hit every button on that screen to delete the tip as I did not want to tip these employees. Reddit says it's a default tip, I say it's not right to force customers to do that. Especially on top of the added fee for using a card. (This default forced tipping also happened at another location a month ago). These employees definitely need some training to do their jobs and default tipping needs to stop. read more

An absolutely awful experience. I placed an order online and when I arrived, the front door was locked. A female employee threw her arms in frustration and attempted to mouth something to me from inside. She eventually approached and unlocked the door. She yelled about being understaffed and how she would not be able to prepare the food I already ordered and paid for. I asked about a refund to which I was told to deal with it online. This was the most uncomfortable, inappropriate, and unprofessional experience I have ever been witness to. The female employee and the incoming manager (I believe) were on the verge of a verbal altercation in front of myself and the other single patron who also left without food or a refund. It was bad timing. I walked in and saw about 6 people waiting inside and one employee ( a girl name Makayla.) As I walked in, I wasn't greeted like tropical smoothie employees normally greet customers and I waited at the register for about 15 minutes. This wait was a complete waste of my time. The lady making the smoothies never mentioned to me that their machine for making food was "down". It was by chance, that I over heard her informing another customer by apologizing that their food machine was "down" at the moment. That frustrated me bc I really came for the food. If she'd acknowledged me from the beginning and informed me of that, I wouldn't have wasted my time. It's obvious to me that this poor girl had to lie bc she was the only one working. I recently stumbled on this place and fell in love with their Avocolada smoothie. Best green smoothie I've tasted. But for employees it must be an awful place to work. They never smile, greet you, say thank you or apologize when a simple sandwich takes 20 minutes to make. And they got the order wrong! They all look miserable and are understaffed. First time in, we wanted to try something new in our neighborhood. Ordered. Waited 30 minutes for half our order. Ended up asking for a refund. Now, I would blame the (painful to watch) slow service on the inexperienced staff... but this is flat out bad management. This is a franchise and whoever owns it must think it will run itself. It doesn't. The line of 13 people waiting on food and drinks with soured expressions was pretty awful to witness. I suggest an overhaul of staff and more managerial presence. Truly Filthy blenders and lids being used to make your smoothie. I watched the only female employee "rinse" out the 2 blenders used for over 12 orders waiting for my online order that was not ready. The residue remaining inside was horrifying. I mentioned this watching her and she proceeded to try to rinse it again. the Lids to the blenders never got rinsed in over 10 smoothies I watched her make. Really GROSS. I ordered online and arrived with time given and waited over 40 minutes to see the filthy blenders and lids. I got so repulsed by the conditions and wait- I left without my order. So poorly run- 2 employees - the male on food was not helping out at all and socializing with people while the girl struggled to get orders put together and served. Trust me- this needs to be reported to the Health and Sanitation department. If I could leave zero stars I would. I came in to get the same thing I get at tropical smoothie my whole life. I get the sunny day smoothie. It's not on the menu anymore. I ordered the Caesar wrap which I don't get and ask for no spinach no tomato. MIND YOU this is a $10 wrap. Come to my surprise it was the size of my palm without my fingers. (I have small hands) I get my smoothie and they gave me the "sunrise" not what I ordered. When I told them they said they don't have it on the menu. I'm aware of this it hasn't been for 10 years but I've never had a problem ordering it but that's fine don't have me pay for it and then give me something else. They said they were gonna get the manager so I sat to eat. My wrap had nothing but spinach on it. HI good afternoon, My name is Melissa Messinger. I thought I would try a smoothy today in hopes to get in a lil extra protein, just recovering from throat cancer and its hard to eat. Upon entering the building I was welcomed, I was then ask by the woman at the register if I had placed a to go order? I replied no, I have never been here before. I studied the menu myself and then proceeded to place my order, I ask a couple questions of which I was abruptly answered. She then ask my name, she then took care of a couple more customers to then make the product. Next she yelled something across the dining room, totally avoiding any eye contact at all, so after patiently waiting, I ask, is this mine? And again, I was given a very abrupted answer that she yelled out "whey"??? I was actually having a decent day until that happen. If you have time and money to waist, then go for it. Otherwise, service is almost nonexistent over the past few months. To the point, order a quesadilla you may get no cheese, or they use frozen shrimp and when they heat it up it does not melt the cheese and your food is still cold and frozen. No consistency with drinks. Your bad experience may vary. Supposedly new management is in and fingers crossed, they shape this place up. I would not go here again. I went here tonight around 8:40pm, the customer service here sucks greatly. I had to repeat my order at least 4 times and my order was still wrong, they obviously don't understand what customer service should look like or act like, i had a certain employee named Ava ring me up not paying attention to me at all and getting my order wrong while basically kicking me out of the store. I would give it zero if it were possible. The smoothies were not brought out and the manager was extremely rude and would not give us the smoothie. He said that we were an embarrassment to society. We had payed with a card and he gave us cash instead of giving us the money back. We showed the receipt and he would still not give us the smoothies.
