I got the best spray tan at Cabo Tan in Libertyville!…read more This was the fourth place I tried after trying to find my new go to place. I wanted somewhere that was reasonably priced, easy to get into, provided a good color and sprayed by hand vs a machine. I used to go to another place in Mundelein that was also a hair salon but getting an apt was always so difficult but they did offer a spray by hand. However, the last few times I tried to go I couldn't get it. So I tried another place where the woman would come to your house but I didn't like the tan (could barley see anything) and it was so pricey. Then I tried LA Tan and I came out looking like I just went to the Jersey Shore. So I've finally found my place- Cabo Tan!!!!The owner is very sweet & helpful. The tan itself was literally the best I've ever had. I looked perfectly tan and it lasted the entire trip even after spending four days in the ocean. Apparently they have some secret tanning solution that no other shop uses and is better quality than the versa spa solution. Go give this place a try!

I was so excited to get my first airbrush spray tan instead of doing the machine spray tan. Missy…read morewas very nice when I showed up and did the tanning services. She probably spent about 1-2 minutes doing the tan and then it was done. I stayed in the room to air dry before dressing and driving home. I liked the immediate effect of the bronzer and was initially happy with the service but it did feel quite rushed but I decided to trust the process since it was my first airbrush spray tan. Was told to shower around 8 hours after the tan and I said I would set an alarm to wake up (it would've been 11pm) to do so and she said it was okay to just let it set overnight and shower it off in the morning. Later that evening as the tan was setting in I could see that the tan was "pooling" in certain areas like my foot and hand creases which I was hoping would be improved compared to the machine tan considering a person was personally spraying me and controlling the product application. Based on how dark I was already looking I decided to shower at 10pm instead of ruining my sheets and waiting over the recommended time to shower it off and I'm glad I did. I had a very dark but nice tan overall but the hand and foot creases were very bad so I was disappointed. Less than 24 hours my foot tan was extremely splotchy and wearing off in certain areas (photos attached). While changing into my bathing suit (got tan for trip to Florida) I realized that the tan about the back of my thighs had essentially never set in due to presumably sitting and sweating in that area while driving home (also felt rushed to exit the tanning salon before I felt "dry" and feel that contributed). The foot and leg issues were both prior to getting in the swimming pool as I know that obviously expedites the tan "wearing off". After about 48 hours from the tan most of the tan had completely washed off from sweating in the Florida heat and a couple dips into the pool. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED as I paid more at $35 (normally $45) to get this "custom airbrush" tan and I probably got a better tan overall with my $15 LA tan machine spray tan. Will not be returning.

Unfortunately, these salons have a habit of closing up almost overnight, leaving customers (and more importantly package-holders) high and dry. Good luck getting a response from any complaints left ... you'd have better odds at winning Mega Millions lottery than hearing back from the owner. I was one of the customers left hanging when the location near Target closed its doors without notice in January 2016. I was actually looking forward to trying their new salon, which was SUPPOSED to have been open within a week or two. I thought it quite odd that most wouldn't close one salon down until the new one was open but, then again, I've never owned a business. I think it was more than five or six months that Soleil was off the grid and before they FINALLY opened the 75th Street location. No way was I going to hedge my bets with this company ... no matter how state-of-the-art the tanning units were. Doing a little investigating, I found that the owner was EVICTED from the PP location for non-payment of rent. Oddly enough, the same story applies for two past locations (Racine and the original Kenosha location on 18th Street). Strangely enough, the owner drives luxury automobiles everywhere while stiffing his customers wallets, quite infuriating! Not sure if the 75th Street store will disappear like the others ... but beware of Soleil ... the shadiest tan in town.

It's great they always have an option to purchase a smaller portion of tanning lotion for a few bucks but also offer full size bottles for purchase if you wish. The level III beds are the same beds they used when I started tanning in 2007, and most of them do not even work properly: buttons missing, facial lights not shutting off properly when you manually turn the switch to avoid burning, the tops come down further than they should, cracks in the beds, and bed 16 doesn't even have a fan on the bed - I honestly felt like I was in a death trap! I also can't even tell you how many times I've walked into tan at this location only to be told that their "system was down". Ugh. Don't even get me started on how dirty the fans and beds are at times. I will give this place 3 stars due to their customer service being so great, however, I would highly suggest updating their beds sometime in the near future.

I'd like to start this off by saying that when I first moved to the area a handful of years ago,…read morethe reviews and ratings of this place were... not great. In fact, they were SO not great that neither my partner nor best friend would accompany me on my first visit. And the reviews weren't wrong. ANYWAY- that was then and this is NOW. In a Covid-19 ravaged world, public spaces (let alone salons!) endanger Americans' wellbeing simply by stepping outside. This public health crisis has become a mental health crisis as well, as feelings of depression and isolation grip our family and neighbors' minds. However on a whim, I decided to visit the LA Tan on Milwaukee one afternoon- that same LA Tan that left me needing (and wanting) more... needing better, so many years ago. Remember when you were little? When the knight in shining armor swooped in on a powerful and galumphing stallion, JUST in time to save the day- remember that? Well in a glorious manifestation of Life Imitating Art, our knight arrived vis-a-vis new ownership, and the stallion he brought? Oh that stallion was none other than the nothing-short-of-brilliant Christine. "But WHO is this Christine??" the readers implored, scratching their heads. Glad you asked. Christine is the vivacious and bubbly manager of both the Palatine AND the Libertyville locations, and she was brought in to kick ass and take names. And by ass I mean 'bad habits to the curb', and by take names I mean 'curate an exemplary experience within your local bronzed-skin factory'. Christine immediately went to work hiring the right people for the job- I don't know if they arrived in the box perfect or if she worked with them to help cultivate an ideal skill set for this role, but she done did it. Which brings me to my final point. Sam. Sam, Sammie, or Samantha, this rose could *literally* go by any other name while her customer service, stellar representation of a professional brand, AND overall knowledge would be just as great as this sentence is long. And trust me- I have worked in tanning salons before on the East coast. Sam not only spoke with me knowledgeably about products and best practices to help maximize a healthy result from my time at LA*T, she left me glowing from this whole sitch. A friendly, well-informed, helpful, and smiling face is always what employers hope for in their outward-facing roles, and gosh darnit if Christine didn't strike gold with Sam! In conclusion- tanning IS cheaper than therapy, but don't go to just ANY old tanning salon... come to LA Tan on Milwaukee in Libertyville. You won't be disappointed!
